Oh my goodness, I have an almost identical drum carder. I just bought it, along with a spinning wheel and accessories a few weeks ago! So cool
A battery drill holding that socket is going to make it so easy. Buy one for your husband for his birthday and then borrow it.
You fell into some very good luck. Batt turned out great.
Serendipity!!!! Love it
Very interesting. 💕 Stay Creative
You can use a knitting needle for the doffer as well
Another indiana girl here! I’m a weaver thinking about starting to spin. Great videos!
Also i would love to hear more about the fiber festival
You have an original Brother drum carder, everything from the handle to carding cloth is replaceable, belt, drums etc. I noticed on their website they also repair drum carders .
I have that same carder and love it because of the chain drive. You might look into oiling it, if there are holes for that.
That’s a great idea! I will tomorrow. It was in my moms garage. Why didn’t I think of that!?
From the looks of your carder it looks like a Strauch it has a metal feed tray and is gear run not belt run. What a find your Momma blessed you with.
a dollar store ice pick or an aul from the hardware store will work well
C ould you use a long needle to lift the “yarn”?
Would a chopstick work ?
Hello. Do you sell any of your spun wool?
