anova in general has connectivity issues. I have their sous vide precision pro and the first one was defective. The display locked up and refused to do anything. Apparently it has to be 4 feet away or less from the router. But I don't think people are going to be lugging a 45 lb oven around to connect to a router. Thank God both this oven and the pro have manual controls. Remote fiddling is not necessary for me to use it. And I can live with that. Same with the replacement Anova. I left it as is. mechanical usage only.
Just got my oven yesterday. Thanks for the setup tutorial. Anova says the water resevoire is 5 liters. I haven’t figured out the wifi setup yet either, but will probbaky stick to manual usage anyway. I just wish the touch screen wans’t so bright, it almost strains my eyes looking at it when their’s not sun coming in the room. Hopefully a firmware update could allow for adjustment of screen brightness.
My first Anova oven has thermostat problem. Things get over cook and was clueless. Then, at 250C, the oven tripped. Then, complain to Anova and they ship over a 2nd oven FOC.
I know it is a perfect fit but I have been told on a facebook page that I am on that the pan does NOT sit on the bottom. There is a heating element on the bottom.
Hi, I just got my oven today, but unfortunately I had to request for replacement part of the water tank since it arrived broken. But when I run the oven with top and bottom element without water tank, it shuts off after 30 seconds. I have to plug in again after couple minutes to make it work again. Is this a problem with my house amperage or the nature of oven that prevents overheat without water tank?
Not much to it? :-) I was trying to open the door as if it were a microwave, sideways! The instruction booklet says nothing about how except identify it as the door.
Hey, since you have one, can you help me out here? Does it do steam only AND convection bake only? I can't find specs anywhere. All Anova is showing me is that it's a combi oven. You sir are brave for paying this much money for an oven that provide absolutely no information :D
Eric, toast was the very first thing I tried... it's not the right tool for the job. The top and bottom elements are not the same power, and it takes too long to heat up the entire oven. A toaster is a fine device
Absolutely fantastic video! Have you been able to connect with support to solve the WiFi issue you mentioned? If not, please reach out to us at support@anovaculinary.com. Once you're able to pair the oven with your phone, you'll also be prompted to upgrade to the latest firmware to take advantage of the performance improvements that the team has made since the oven left the factory. Firmware upgrade usually takes 1-2 minutes. Thanks again for this and your unboxing video! We love them! -Scott from Anova
Scott, the app update came out the next day, and although I was never able to connect and configure the oven with an iPhone 11 Pro, I was able to do it on my wife's iPhone X. So we're up and running with the app. Tonight we did the Shrimp Boil... fantastic!
Awesome addition to your kitchen... enjoy.
Excellent tutorial
Was hoping to see how the steam works.... hopefully in your next video :)
I just posted a video of a Shrimp Boil... it used steam throughout... worked very well

Looking forward to a demonstration of the sous vide mode!
Looking forward to your cooking test video.
looking forward to seeing it in action!
I just posted a video from the first evening's dinner... a steak. Check it out.

Would love to see a video on the chicken and the shrimp.
Tonia, I published the shrimp video today
Very useful video..thanks. Just got mine and did the 15 min 156degree test and the oven was almost cold when I finished. Is this normal?
is there any way to turn off the light while baking?
Thanks for the video! Does it require distilled water or can you use tap water?
Using distilled water will greatly reduce the need for de-scaling.
Thank you for this. Can I ask if we can change the temperature display to Celsius?
Yes, it’s a simple switch in the app settings

is the rear exterior very hot?

it wont start counting down when it hits the temp you selected..
It depends... in the app you can control when the timer starts
Have you made any meals in the unit yet?
Yes, our first meal was a prime steak, cooked sous vide, and seared with a torch. Our second was a roast chicken. So far, so good.
Why not just take the cover off to fill it no need for a funnel?
But can it make toast?

@@Zentient1 Too bad, since for us, counter space is at a premium.

If you use the WIFI it does all those steps that you have shown...
