Stacey, would you mind sharing your memories of the media's relationship to the teams back in the '80s? I'm a drop older than you and I remember much more of a friendly vibe. Am I just senile?
hi guys ! been listening for a while now love the show. i haven’t seen anyone talk about it, but should the yankees consider going for profar to fill the void that has been LF for how many years now if it doesn’t cut into soto money ?
1984 was my 1st year of watching and truly understand the game, and there wasn't anything bigger than Mattingly. He is still to this day, my favorite player of all time. Mattingly won the batting title, then wins the MVP in '85. Mattingly should have won in '86 as well, but it went to clemens. Mattingly is a HOF PERIOD. '84 ALWAYS HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART
I left a game early in September 2005 against the Devil Rays. Losing 3-2 going into the bottom of the 9th I left early to get ahead on the 4 train. I heard the crowd roar from the elevated tracks as Giambi hit a walk off.
Stacey..same age as you (couple months older actually). Watched a lot of these games on channel 11! Phil rizzutto announcing . Holy cow!Good times. First year I went to a game.
Great memories from the 80s for me! I remember that batting title race with Mattingky and Winfield and it was awesome! Ghostbusters, Karate Kid, Goonies! Hell yeah!!!! “Don’t cross the streams!” Lol!🎉😂 Actually I remember the Yankees being a lot better that year..surprised they only won 87 games!
As I recall the 1984 Yankees had the best record in baseball in the second half of the season. But back then, before wildcards, a team starting 35-5 had pretty much punched a ticket to the World Series.
Stacey, I take it that you didn’t realize that the program you referenced with the Dodger players talking trash was recorded on the same day as the parade which was 2 days after winning game 5. The program was Mookie Betts’ personal podcast (On Base) and they must have taken time to edit it before releasing it recently. So, they really did meet your “window” of still taking about their WS win within the week following the end of the series.
Just think if the Yankees make 2 plays we win game 5 and the Dodgers have no bullpen left for the rest of the series we have great shot I just wish they would have had that chance
He needs to sound like he doesn’t want spend money at the owners meetings because he wants to get along smaller market owners but he has spend he will with or without Soto he will spend a lot money no doubt

What do y'all think the Yankees Plan B will be if they don't sign Juan Soto?. Love the podcast and keep up the great work Stacey and Brian.

I love that baseball card with Winfield and Mattingly it says two for the title

Phil Niekro got his 3000 th career strikeout on July 4, but Butch Wynegar missed the knuckleball and Lance Parrish reached base.

You might expect to hear this stuff from Dodger fans. You normally don’t hear this crap from players.
The rare bleep on the podcast!

I'm sorry but Brian doesn't have the voice to be doing podcasts
