Fontaine Ferry Park sat on 64-acres of land in west Louisville on the Ohio River. It's complicated history was rooted in segregation and eventually closed in 1969.
I think they should reopen this part due to the lack amusement parks in the area it would be fun to have a call nice old vintage amusement park in America
It is NOT "FOUNTAIN Ferry" it's FON-TAINE Ferry!! Just look at the lettering over the main entrance! Sad to see eminent historian Tom Owens getting this wrong! I got taken there a couple of times as a kindergartener/preschooler before integration. I had zero awareness of the social issues. Have some good (but fuzzy) memories!
Short - the park was desegregated and then it was immediately destroyed and burned down. The end.
Yup.
They left a lot out about what destroyed it.
Are you surprised?
A good place to go, at one time 😊

Lots of other things are built on the site now. You can't go home again!
I couldn't go because it was segregated.

Thank you for the video. I really miss this place. Love going there. 👏🏼🤗
Best roller coaster I've ever been on. Saw my first concert there-- the Kingsmen of Louie, Louie fame..
Happy times
