The tunnel brings back memories. As a small child living in Maryland it was always a great thrill to go through the tunnel. I was always fascinated by the overhead lights and the air holes on the wall. We would go through it on the ride to NY to visit relatives. The last time I was in that tunnel was late august 1968 when we left Maryland for good to move to NJ when I was 5. In 2003 I went to Virginia to take the auto train to Florida. When I went through the Baltimore Tunnel it was like going back in time but it was not until later that I realized it was the one built in the 80s but it looked so much like the original tunnel I did not notice.

Still the same, only thing changed is the overhead bridge before entering and different overhead lights.
I never knew there was an overpass with a “DO NOT CROSS WHITE LINE” sign. Why did they remove that overpass!?
I'm not sure why it was removed. But it lasted into the 2000s.
