It is quite ruined though by what comes afterwards. We see Jack preparing to step with one of his legs. But, in the following shot Jack hits the dock with the other leg. Otherwise, 10/10 scene.

Depp turned what could have been a struggling costume drama into one of the most hilarious and biggest box office successes. He lifted the script to dizzy heights and brought all the other actors to the heights with him. They (the actors) all shone with great performances, because of Depp's character and his generosity of spirit. They didn't hold back.

That scene showed alot about norringtons character, up to that point you could tell he just thought of captain jack as lucky, and beneath him. After Jack takes the interceptor, and then the lieutenant says "he's got to be the best pirate I've ever seen" Norrington does something you don't see men in movies or real life do often. Concede defeat, and recognize he was wrong. After this norrington also never underestimates jack ever again

Something I wanna mention about the context behind Jack's words of "Worlds still the same...there's just...less in it". Jack is someone who takes a man's freedom very seriously, his grandma sold him into slavery cause she thought "it would make a man out of him". He was branded a pirate after freeing slaves that Beckett had asked him to move, now Jack was already on the way towards casting off society and proper civilization in general, so what Beckett did didn't really bother him in the long run. Now, he was resigned to being a pirate only and with all the freedom Jack could want, the only person he answered to now was himself. He only had to abide by 3 sets of rules that he put down for himself, first being "What a man can do, and what a man can't do", second being what any particular man can do within the confines of the laws of nature, and third, what it is Jack Sparrow can and can't do. The rules are as such, the first being not so much what a man can't do, rather what he won't, either due to a promise or morals or whether he abides by the law, it's not so much he can't do it, something inside him won't let him. The second rule being nough said, and the third rule being more of like a, guideline you might say, seeing as it seems there is very little Jack Sparrow as a man, as a pirate, can't do. Following these rules, Jack could sail around the world as he wished, unstoppable pirate lord that he is, pillaging and plundering, adventuring and exploring, always chasing the horizon, that is, until his past caught up with him, until Beckett started going after him again, until the world started catching up to him. Being a pirate, as fun and freeing as it is however, allows you freedom in only certain places, that being places far far away from society and proper civilization, and men like Beckett and Norrington. The thing is, earlier in the film, Beckett makes it a point to say the corners of the map are being filled in, the British navy, and in turn, the other nations, governments, men who are uptight pricks and disregarding of lives they deem lesser than their own, men like Beckett, things that Jack has been trying to get as far away from as he can, they're all closing in on him simply because the world doesn't go on forever. It's not just that all those things are closing in on Jack from all sides, it's that with the world being more explored more and more of the time, there's fewer and fewer places for incredible wonders, amazing adventures, and for the freedom Jack longs for to still persist. The world is the same as it's ever been, it's just being more filled in, yet at the same time it's being more hollowed out, and the potential adventure, treasure and freedom that Jack hoped was still out there, is if just not drastically reduced, actively being squashed and killed altogether, and now Beckett has Jones helping him to do it. That's part of why Jack wanted to kill Jones and take his place as captain of The Flying Dutchman, it's one of the few places left he knows he can get to where he'll still be free(at least to a certain extent, as certainly as much as he is now) and he'd still be able to chart new waters, either here or in the underworld, find new adventure, and free other souls from the clutches of the sea. It's why he was genuine when he told Jones, "I can set you free mate", Jones was suffering, his love for Calypso had trapped him in this form of hate and in the corruption of his purpose, he was a slave to his hate for her, and slave to his love for her, when he was promised it would be a form of freedom for him, to be able to see her once every 10 years. This is the context behind why Jack was sad in what he meant by those words, and why it really felt like everyone lost when Will got stabbed by Jones, and Jack gave up the chance to kill him himself. Will and Elizabeth lost each other in the life they would've had as a family, Jones lost his chance to try and fix things with himself, and with Calypso, and Jack lost the one chance he thought he had to keep sailing that new horizon. But in the end, in typical Jack fashion, he got the last laugh, and plenty of adventure awaiting him, as he stole the maps Barbossa stole from the Indonesian pirate lord, and what a map it was, even if the globe is catching up with him, even if the map is being filled in, the map Jack has, shows all the places you can't find on any old map, with plenty of adventure and freedom waiting for him.

Johnny Depp had alcohol issues in the past so they wouldn’t have allowed him to drink anyway and if r got away with bringing in alcohol and getting drunk they would have fired him. It’s Disney and Disney is pretty strict so. The thing that made Jack Jack was because Jack was a main character ( which Johnny Depp was used too ) but he wasn’t important. If that makes sense. A lot of films do it because it hooks the audience and makes bigger fandoms meaning more money. Jack was only needed for the first three but when he died they initially wanted to properly kill him off. Johnny has never worked in that background before so they wasn’t as strict on him meaning he basically could do what he wanted too, which makes him a better actor.

Something I wanna mention about the context behind Jack's words of "Worlds still the same...there's just...less in it". Jack is someone who takes a man's freedom very seriously, his grandma sold him into slavery cause she thought "it would make a man out of him". He was branded a pirate after freeing slaves that Beckett had asked him to move, now Jack was already on the way towards casting off society and proper civilization in general, so what Beckett did didn't really bother him in the long run. Now, he was resigned to being a pirate only and with all the freedom Jack could want, the only person he answered to now was himself. He only had to abide by 3 sets of rules that he put down for himself, first being "What a man can do, and what a man can't do", second being what any particular man can do within the confines of the laws of nature, and third, what it is Jack Sparrow can and can't do. The rules are as such, the first being not so much what a man can't do, rather what he won't, either due to a promise or morals or whether he abides by the law, it's not so much he can't do it, something inside him won't let him. The second rule being nough said, and the third rule being more of like a, guideline you might say, seeing as it seems there is very little Jack Sparrow as a man, as a pirate, can't do. Following these rules, Jack could sail around the world as he wished, unstoppable pirate lord that he is, pillaging and plundering, adventuring and exploring, always chasing the horizon, that is, until his past caught up with him, until Beckett started going after him again, until the world started catching up to him. Being a pirate, as fun and freeing as it is however, allows you freedom in only certain places, that being places far far away from society and proper civilization, and men like Beckett and Norrington. The thing is, earlier in the film, Beckett makes it a point to say the corners of the map are being filled in, the British navy, and in turn, the other nations, governments, men who are uptight pricks and disregarding of lives they deem lesser than their own, men like Beckett, things that Jack has been trying to get as far away from as he can, they're all closing in on him simply because the world doesn't go on forever. It's not just that all those things are closing in on Jack from all sides, it's that with the world being more explored more and more of the time, there's fewer and fewer places for incredible wonders, amazing adventures, and for the freedom Jack longs for to still persist. The world is the same as it's ever been, it's just being more filled in, yet at the same time it's being more hollowed out, and the potential adventure, treasure and freedom that Jack hoped was still out there, is if just not drastically reduced, actively being squashed and killed altogether, and now Beckett has Jones helping him to do it. That's part of why Jack wanted to kill Jones and take his place as captain of The Flying Dutchman, it's one of the few places left he knows he can get to where he'll still be free(at least to a certain extent, as certainly as much as he is now) and he'd still be able to chart new waters, either here or in the underworld, find new adventure, and free other souls from the clutches of the sea. It's why he was genuine when he told Jones, "I can set you free mate", Jones was suffering, his love for Calypso had trapped him in this form of hate and in the corruption of his purpose, he was a slave to his hate for her, and slave to his love for her, when he was promised it would be a form of freedom for him, to be able to see her once every 10 years. This is the context behind why Jack was sad in what he meant by those words, and why it really felt like everyone lost when Will got stabbed by Jones, and Jack gave up the chance to kill him himself. Will and Elizabeth lost each other in the life they would've had as a family, Jones lost his chance to try and fix things with himself, and with Calypso, and Jack lost the one chance he thought he had to keep sailing that new horizon. But in the end, in typical Jack fashion, he got the last laugh, and plenty of adventure awaiting him, as he stole the maps Barbossa stole from the Indonesian pirate lord, and what a map it was, even if the globe is catching up with him, even if the map is being filled in, the map Jack has, shows all the places you can't find on any old map, with plenty of adventure and freedom waiting for him.
Jack being Jack makes him the best pirate and he always find a way to get out of any predicament

Johnny Depp had alcohol issues in the past so they wouldn’t have allowed him to drink anyway and if r got away with bringing in alcohol and getting drunk they would have fired him. It’s Disney and Disney is pretty strict so. The thing that made Jack Jack was because Jack was a main character ( which Johnny Depp was used too ) but he wasn’t important. If that makes sense. A lot of films do it because it hooks the audience and makes bigger fandoms meaning more money. Jack was only needed for the first three but when he died they initially wanted to properly kill him off. Johnny has never worked in that background before so they wasn’t as strict on him meaning he basically could do what he wanted too, which makes him a better actor.
