Hi, love the channel so much I watched you original mealworm video a day after it released and I have been itching to start raising mealworms and they arrived today so excited!!! Also I noticed you buy the wild bird feed fat balls, those are quite pricey and thought I’d recommend you making them youself ago, dead easy just buy beef lard/a tub of fat, melt it add seed and a thickener, corn meal/flour etc. and you can make a how to video could do well? Just a thought, keep this content going please❤️

Do I need to add ventilation holes if I'm not using a lid? And does the container have to be see-through? Just bought my first batch!

I think you did a good job.

So, you don't have to add any water? Thanks and good video.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. No they don’t need water added to their environment, mealworms can live in totally arid conditions. They get all their water from their food.

@@cityself-sufficiency Thanks so much for the reply. It's disappointing how many people put up videos and never check the feedback and questions. I appreciate it.

They do need some sort of moisture, usually from potato or carrot slices. If you leave it to just what is in the air, they can certainly die. I lost a few hundred before I learned that. Same for the beetles which some sites will erroneously tell you can pull water from the air.
