What a fine tag! Working 10cc and Mike Oldfield in there was amazing. Genesis, Pink Floyd, and ELP get the attention they absolutely deserve. Excellent!
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting. I enjoyed making this one. It was fun. Cheers
Andy! Absolutely outstanding choices here. Love hearing your stories about buying these records and seeing some of these artists live. You picking Flaming Lips is a PERFECT choice.. I really need that album and this might have totally solidified it. Really cool pick with Black MIDI too - I've heard of them a few times but have never dived in and yes - 10cc is the art rock posterchild and that's the best. The Amorphous/Androgynous cover art is absolutely outstanding. Selling England is a great choice and my favorite Genesis record. Absolutely loved hearing you talk about all of this and thank you so much for tagging part. I'm adding this video to the prog tag playlist on my channel. Great job and thanks again - cheers Andy!
Thanks' Alex. That was an inspired set of questions. I had a lot of fun making this one. There's a YT video of Black Midi playing three songs live in Central Park a couple of years or so back, including John L which I think is the standout track on their second album. That's a good place to try them. They aren't for everyone. Maybe a bit like Van de Graaf were hard to get into back in the day. Thanks again for going to the effort of thinking up the questions and for watching my effort and for your lovely comments. Cheers, mate.
Hi Andy, you’ve done it again by doing a very interesting selection of “Prog Albums”. I don’t class myself as being a Prog fan and yet I have many of the albums you have shown, so maybe I am. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Well, like you my New Year’s resolution in not buying so many albums as last year seems to have gone out of the window and it’s still January. Thanks for your channel and glad to see your subs are increasing 👍👏
Thanks, Myles. This one was a bit impromptu, but I had fun making it. Cheers, mate
Tubular Bells is prog in my book 👌🏻
Agree on Atom Heart Mother, deserves more love.
Thanks, Richard. I had a lot of fun doing this one. Thanks for watching. Cheers
Nicely done Andy, I thoroughly enjoyed your entries as it seems we have quite a bit of common ground here. I recently went into Riverside and Foxtrot is my all-time favorite prog album (well, Nursery Cryme and Selling England are part of my top 3 Genesis albums). Procol Harum and The Moody Blues were very proto-prog indeed. Greetings from Canada
Merci, FVA! I'm glad you enjoyed the vdieo. Thanks for watching. Cheers
Hi Andy, Just recently became aware of your channel. Excellent prog tag response. Nothing wrong at all with Tubular Bells as a debut prog album in my book. That and Aqualung were my prog starting points. A Day at the Beach is probably the strongest Airbag album to me. They are working on new stuff. So much great King Crimson live material, and nice to see Music is your Friend on vinyl. Atom Heart Mother is a gem. I have really enjoyed the two last Black Midi albums. Rattles the old can a bit. Never enough Hammill around. Enjoyable entry. Cheers, Richard
Thanks Richard. I subbed you and will take a look at you tag later. Cheers
Another nice tag! 😃 Atom heart mother is one of my favorite Pink Floyd albums, it's so unusual compared to the others.... Steven Wilson had to be somewhere in the list 😉
Merci, Chris. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun making this one. Cheers
Cheers Andy , very good indeed
Thanks for watching, Alan. I had a lot of fun doing this one
@@andysalbums Hi Andy , I am going to have a go at this later today (15 Jan ) cheers
@@dailyvinyl5145 I'll keep an eye open for it 👍✌
Andy, I recommend looking into Marillion's 3rd album called Misplaced Childhood. It is a total classic concept album that I think you would enjoy. Great Prog tag. Think I'll have a go myself. Cheers
Thanks John. I do have Misplaced Childhood but it's on CD. It is a cracker though, I agree. Cheers, mate
Thank you Andy for another great video. I just want to add something about what you said about trying not to buy so much new music this year. But after listening to some new releases today I really want to buy 3 well another two as I have already brought the new Vaccines album but I want the new magnum one and Bill Ryder Jones album which you need to check out
Thanks, Chris. I've got Bill Ryder-Jones' album on pre-order. It should have arrived today but hasn't been dispatched yet. His album Yawn in 2018 was my album of the year then. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
Terrific Andy we are ‘snap’ on Greg Lake and I really must listen to Black Midi as I know the young drummer is a hot one to watch and the guys are influenced by 70s fusion. Like you trying to buy less in in 2024 !!
Thanks, Graham. There's a YT vid of Black Midi playing three tracks live in Central Park a couple of years or so back, including John L from their second album. That's a good place to try them. They aren't for everyone. Maybe a bit like Van de Graaf were back in the day. THnaks for watching. Cheers
