For anyone (like me) wondering what "Ginga" translates into in English, it's "Galaxy." Which means it shouldn't come as a surprise if a subsequent ship in this class is named Enterprise. (BTW, what's "Enterprise" in Japanese?)

Starting with the 2009 Anime Movie: Yamato Resurrection. As shown in the Alternative Ending, along with the Sister Ship of the Blue Noah, Blue Earth, there was a Yamato-Like Battleship appearing in space, it was called, Wave Motion Experimental Battleship Musashi. The idea of the Musashi was then saved for a future idea, that of being, Space Battleship Yamato 2202. But the name "Musashi" felt too old fashioned. Plus in reality, the Musashi was built BEFORE the Yamato. So the whole idea of keeping the Battleship's original name was scrapped, and the name was changed to Ginga. Amd the original colors were changed too, since it looked way more like its appearance in Yamato 2220 so a couple of alterations were added to the design, mainly being the ship's colors and window colors. (Air Force Blue and Maroon for the Battleship's colors) (Sky Blue for the Battleship's windows) And the design of it was fully done. Creating the Ginga just like that.

I wonder if Ginga can't fire her gun why even bother keep the guns at all? Why not remove those guns to make space for something else like extra hangars for fighters.

Once the CRS was activated, they likely then learned that none of Ginga's weapons systems would function. That's why the ship was able to actually use her guns in the last episode of 2202, since the CRS had been destroyed to boost the Andromeda's WMG shot.

2205 had Ginga in there and it stayed near Earth. They even transferred a crewman back to Yamato, he "defected" to Gamillas before.

However it says on the wiki the bullets had to be self propelled and the rockets are self propelled so thats the reason ginga fired her guns
