This Fantic Gran Turismo TX220 Super Six had been restored a few years ago. It was mechanically tired having taken part in several long moped runs in England, Ireland and France.
The restoration was OK, but many of the original specification parts and factory settings had been 'lost or forgotten', so it was time for a complete refresh.
The cylinder was treated to a new Nicasil lining by Langcourt, the crankshaft was rebuilt by Grampian, a brand new Asso piston was sourced from Germany, the gearbox was stripped and rebuilt with all new bearings and seals, the carburettor was stripped, cleaned and rebuilt and the correct main jet fitted. The under-seat air intake was missing completely, so a new item was fitted, along with the correct air filter and a new air pipe. The front brake caliper was seized, so a new old stock item was fitted, complete with new brake pads.
This video features part of a 45 mile test ride, running-in the new piston, Dykes ring, cylinder and the freshly rebuilt gearbox, bedding in the new disc brake pads and generally checking that everything worked properly. The rev counter had never worked so this needs to go for a specialist repair.

Awesome rebuild, sound & scenery. That's my stinkwheel fix for the week!
Tailing behind and getting the sound and smell👍😊
The sound is great for sure, with modern synthetic oils there is hardly any smell and also next to no smoke either now....but in many ways that is good?
Stunning bike and scenery Mark. 😊
Cheers Alex, hope all is good with you and the GT?
@@fanticman yes, spot on Mark. Love it 😍
@@alexrankin8263 Glad to hear it.
Oh my God ! You made my day !
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
beautyful bike and top clip
Many thanks!
I always wanted this 50
This one was originally a German market bike. There were only a handful of UK spec bikes with pedals sold in 1976/77. As far as I'm concerned the TX220 Super Six is easily the best 50cc bike to ride, big enough for an adult to ride, its docile around town but packs a real punch at the top end and will sit at 60mph all day. Front disc brake, indicators and a rear brake light make it safe (ish!) to ride as well.
Absolutely love it
Me too!
