Beyond righteous!!!! Jamie Stewart..... so cool, always smiling, his rhythm was the locomotive of the early Cult years... and he is the most animated smooth moving bassist ever.... he makes ya smile, and move... love it... Jamie Stewart... coolest rhythm bassist ever... imho....
Just freaking cool to see Jamie Stewart jamming again with his band mates!! Hell yeah! Is about time!! He’s still jamming! 👌😎👍👉♥️🫶🙏Made my freaking day!!
I remember thinking at the gigs that with players of John and Charlie's calibre as the rhythm section we were probably hearing it better than the first time round.. kept that though to myself mind!
I love the energy Jamie brought to the stage - I guess subsequent replacements weren’t allowed to compete with Ian and Bully for “stage presence” but back in the day it was part of the overall band. RIP Nigel, that would have made what was brilliant this time round as sublime. Loved every minute of it!!
I have redone it actually and improved it considerably…..but to make it worth reuploading I need more people to contribute to the edit and send me their footage. Unfortunately there are some very insular people out there!
Fucking pure magic. We will never see their like again. The most original band of their time. Thanks for doing this guys. I’ve yearned for it for almost 40 years 🙏🏻x
Fantastic work, thank you!! I love The Cult have seen them on pretty much every tour since '87. Not sure, I can hear She Sells Sanctuary or Love Removal Machine live ever again!! So this is a nice change, they sound great too!
Yup, great night. Watching it on telly as i type. Great footage (credit would be cool, even if you didn't use that much) I tried to keep as still as poss, but c'mon man, it was a bitchin' gig!
Credits appear at the end screen. You may have to pause to read the whole thing, but that’s the beauty of a pause button! Thanks for your help with it.
Thank you very much indeed, Andy. Without exaggeration, I can say that this is the first (and, to date, only) fan-made concert video that I've seen on TH-cam which truly manages to capture some of the brilliance and atmosphere of a live performance. I've watched it twice already. It's amazing, and it allows me to revisit that beautiful, special evening. Both audio and video are also excellent, despite the obvious and necessary automated compression kicking in. May I please ask what you used to record this? Anyway, I am elated that you've done this. As I mentioned on another of your videos, I was considering bringing a Tascam pocket recorder to the gig, but I then got worried that it might be confiscated. After that momentous, joyous event, I expressed my regret to my girlfriend. She told me not to worry, since someone else in the front row to our right had been filming all night. I suspect that was you! If so, we were much further to your left, pretty much opposite the security guard / Jamie and Charlie, beyond the chap who "stole" Ian's dropped tambourine - much to his irritation, obviously. My gratitude to you once again for all your time and effort in mayking this happen. It's a stunning achievement. Oh, without wishing to be pedantic, Jamie spells his surname "Stewart" (and an "A" seems to be missing from the title of "A Flower in the Desert" - but that's really pernickety of me!).
Thank you mate, I appreciate the sentiment. Filmed on an iPhone 15 Pro MAX. I shot it in Apple ProRes meaning MASSIVE file sizes (fortunately my phone has 1TB of storage so not a problem!) It looked awesome when I uploaded to Premiere for editing but as soon as the codec compression kicks in for posting to FB/YT the lighting unfortunately then looks crap. Really don't know if there's anything that can be done to help with that? The problem is def worse from where I am shooting with the lights glaring straight down my sensor. One of the alternate angles I used from a contributor set slightly further back in the crowd doesn't seem to suffer anything like as bad issues. My bad on Jamie's name (I did know that!) Corrected! I missed the A off the song name on purpose as it was getting too long to fit in the graphic I was using for the song titles (which features animated butterflies, don't know if you noticed?). It could have been sooo much better if people like Sonic Document had responded and got involved. But some people just want to live on an island. Cant do much about that. If I do this next year I'll organise better before the event and collaborate with some people who know what they're doing and want to be involved!
@@Cruser1068 Thanks for the detailed and friendly response, Andy. I shall recommend the iPhone 15 Pro Max to my girlfriend. She is looking for a 'phone that can deal with concert recordings. Hers clearly has no built-in audio compressor or limiter. As such, the sound always distorts horrendously when the drums kick in. Moreover, much gratitude for your explanation regarding the title of "A Flower in the Desert". I had noticed the animated titles, but I had to look again after reading your message in order to see that they are butterflies. That's highly appropriate, and just goes to show what an excellent job you've done!
@@barkinstarfish For your information, I don't have a smart 'phone, so I can't even take it out, let alone put it away. I filmed precisely nothing of this gig. I was there enjoying it, being carried away by the music and the atmosphere. However, it is great to relive that fantastic evening at least to a certain extent thanks to Andy's excellent filming. That's the only thing I was attempting to convey with my comments, and I frankly have no idea how you could have come to any other conclusion.
@@Cruser1068 Nice one , last time i looked it wasn`t on and there`s tracks missing maybe because of the country idk? Can`t beat watching the full show sequentially, buit i will be watching it today at work and being paid to watch it if you look at it like that. Which i do. Thanks again, hope you have a nice day. Ps, dont suppose you ever came across a live bootleg called Dancing with the snake, think it was a picture disc, i used to have a tape recording of it, from the Love tour but early, maybe before it was released.
@@eugenemclemmont4045 no sorry, never seen that. My own VHS copy of the Lyceum gig is knocking about somewhere but I just cant find it! If I do find it I'm planning to encode it and I guess I could upload it. That would definitely be breaking copyright issues though so not sure if it will be allowed on YT....although the link I posted above seems to be OK? I'm a bit disappointed frankly, with the 40 year anniversary coming up and the Cult just announcing a new vinyl release of Dreamtime that they haven't re-mastered the live video and posted a digital release.
@@Cruser1068 10mins after posting to you yesterday i found a full upload that had only been up for 16 hours and watched that, not one advert either, the complete concert, i saved it to my gigs playlist to see if it gets taken down.
Hi Andy. I have some iPhone 14 Pro footage ( not Pro Res) from Islington that week, the view of the stage as I was right at the front would match Brixton I reckon. let me know if it's of interest.
Thank you! But no! Trying to sync songs at the same venue on different nights is pretty much impossible never mind different venues! But thanks for your offer.
Do not watch if you are epileptic! Those lights. Why the hell they decided to call themselves the death cult is beyond me. I am a long-time fan of their music, but this latest crush on satanic stuff is beyond me.
??? Not sure the Devil enters into it. DeathCult isn't a new name they've come up with, it's what they were called back in the early 80's when they formed which was then soon shortened to The Cult, this tour is a revival of those old songs. In turn Death Cult was shortened from the name of Ian's original band that he left, Southern Death Cult, and that name was derived from Ian's fascination with native American culture that many of the early songs were themed around. Wikipedia link tells you a bit more about that name. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southeastern_Ceremonial_Complex

Jamie appeared twice on this tour….and they happened to be the 2 gigs I went to 😂 I was made up!
Jamie Stewart 27:44
Wow! What a rythmic couple John and Charlie are! They sound together as ten thousand players at the same time! Totslly insane, AWESOME!!

I was the proud recipient of that tambourine after Rain!! I’ve never been happier :)
Right there beside you kiddo ✨
A totally worthy contender. No-one else in that room looked the part more than you! Superb effort.
They were brilliant on this tour ❤❤❤
What a great live band the Cult are .
This must have taken a lot of time and effort I hope you get the extra collaborators you've asked for and thank you for uploading and sharing.
Damn , hell yea
Most of these songs haven't been played in 40 years and so awesome to see Jamie Stewart with Ian and Billy. Thanks for posting ❤

Great seeing Jamie again, they seem to have more energy with him. I always felt the cult never realised how much of a good song resurrection Joe is.
Without jamie no real cult !
Absolutely fantastic footage thank you so much for this ! We were at the Monday show, had a blast shame we didn't get Jamie though ...

Guitar and singer maybe!!
Brilliant music for me anyway! ARRRCANE
Well done for getting this done so quickly Andy, great to watch it all through like this 🎼🔥
Thanks. I could have uploaded it a week ago....been waiting in the hope more footage would be incoming...but alas no.
