Just found your video on finishing the c2c early. I have Just dropped out in Shap, after 4 days of rain, fog and wet gear, exactly the same thoughts as you, no point in investing time, money and effort if you are not enjoying it, I am calling my hike a successful traverse of the lake District, 64 miles and 17, 000 feet of ascent in 4 days. Well done for having the courage to make the call.
Excuse the late response! This is how I felt. I definitely do not mind pain!! However the pain wasn't worth the 'reward' on this hike. It was throughout the lakes, like you said, but man oh man walking through all of the cow 🐄💩 fields. I also felt like some of the farmers had dragged the 💩 to the entrance of the fields because I suspect they don't enjoy people having a right of way over their land. It's just a suspicion of course, but it did seem that way to me!!
I done the West Highland Way in 2 trips. As much as i would have loved to have done it in 1 go it's all about enjoying the journey. I'm hoping to do the C2C next year but as excited as I am. I will stop, if I stop enjoying it. The trail isn't going anywhere and it will be there for you if you decide to finish it at a later date. Thanks for the video, love all the honesty if your vids.
Heyyyyy! Hope you're keeping well! Maybe I'll come out to Canada one day to hike. There is such a huge world and not enough time (and probably money) to hike it haha
Still...a very good effort. It's happened to me on long distance hikes when my mind's not right for it. If you have someone with you, you can egg each other on, but by yourself it's easy to call it a day and go for a pint. In fact, I'm going for a few now...hic
The perfect finish.....Doom Bar. A good honest account of the C2C. It’s been great following your adventures, let us know when you are planning you next one.
Sorry to hear you decided to finish the walk, if you weren't enjoying it is maybe for the best because at the end of the day we go walking to enjoy it, maybe in the future when you have had time to think and you are needing a short break you may decide to go back and finish it off, it should only take 4 to 5 days to complete it. there are many who walk the C2C in two halfs, If you are thinking of doing the PCT look at Mary Mansfields channel, she walked it last year and when she got home she put a vlog on about how much it cost her and she broke all the costs down, it might interest you. Take Care.
Hope u ok! Get back out again soon, just started watching u stuff on here, love it. Don’t keep me waiting to long for some new content, lol. Take care of u self.
Haha I'm glad you enjoy watching me perpetually talk to myself! I won't be continuing this walk. It just became too dull. But I have some American hikes in mind for next year such as the John Muir Trail and the Colorado Trail
How do I feel about my decision? I'm glad I stopped as I just wasn't enjoying it, it wasn't fulfilling me or my expectations. I prefer wild, mountainous scenery and English fields with sheep in just weren't cutting it unfortunately. I'm planning a couple of hikes for summer, but whether I'll get to do them this year is another story!
@@appalachiangirluk9960 thanks for the reply. I'm glad you stopped. Others would have slogged on for pride. You where brave to share your thoughts. It made the video honest and personal. I enjoy your chit chat. And you sharing your experiences. God bless.
Hope you have got over your C2C experience, I have just been watching the Whimsical Woman on TH-cam walking the Tahoe Rim Trail which looks a nice walk and is about 170 miles long and takes in part of the PCT so if you were looking to do a shorter walk in America and would not cost as much as the PCT it looks interesting and may be worth considering.
In the news today I read about an MP who was watching porn then laughed when I heard your comment about the problems being solved and the MPs won't need that much salary for nothing. Perfect timing!!
The tractor carcas is sad, especially if you think of how hard the farmer originally had to skrimp to buy it. It's even sadder to think that there is someone that desperately needs those parts to repair their tractor. My hobby is old tractors because they were so much better built than anything in the last 40 years (and I can not afford Corvettes). Waking the sheep up was karma for them keeping you awake. Do your videoing for the future you. We get to enjoy a glimpse into the adventures of a very interesting young person. Do not think any more about your viewers than to realize you have fans and do not owe us. Your solution is nice but the problem is that most people do not like how hard farm work can be. Most of the "needy" that I've come across over the past 60 years had no inclination to work. Of course there were some that were unfortunately disabled and needed(and deserved) help. I helped our local food pantry for 5 years. The customers got younger and had an attitude that we owed them. They were young and able bodied but refused to work and help us. Then the church told us we should do more but, they wouldn't help. The bunch of us old geezers that had done most of the work for years, just quit. I don't think anyone else has taken it over. The people that get assistance are a very complicated problem. I'm sorry that you didn't finish but you were right to call it, because you weren't enjoying the trail. Money is going to be very tight in the future and there is the risk of inflation soon. I think that the US stock market is going to drop after the election. I've seen some bad ones before. The one in 1987 caused me to later be out of work for 5 years(a ripple effect that took 8 years to get to me). Get back to your regular life and try day hikes(sanity pauses) to help make life more enjoyable. Time in the sun and in the woods actually makes you more resistant to the virus. Shorter hikes should make fun videos. Don't worry about the camera. It's the content that counts. I always enjoy your vids and hope that you get a lot back from them. Thanks. Good Luck, Rick

Good Girl... I got off after 125 miles. The reward outweighed by the effort and pain. Loved the lakes!

You commentary is the most underrated maybe on all of TH-cam!! 🤣🤣🤣
When I'm hiking and recording, the words just fall out of my mouth, when I'm watching back to edit I often think 'wtf am I like?! 😂'
i laughed so hard at the tissues! xD
Right?! What an earth 😂
on, on earth
Well done, can't wait for your next adventure , atb.
Great to see you again!

Now...that's an adventure 👍👍👍x

Sounds like you made the right decision for you. As they say -- hike your own hike. On to the next ...
ah its a shame you've come off the trail Laura ,its certainly worth a pint of doombar ,not a bad pint that ,maybe you could do the rob roy way next ?

Ha ha ha! I'm sure he needed it to relax him from a day of lounging about on the green chairs shouting 'here here!'
interesting point though with the filming, will you be getting a gopro for the pct?
I need something better don't I, and more durable. A phone just isn't cutting it.
@@appalachiangirluk9960 i just thought a gopro is nice, because you can attach it to your clothes or pack and have the hands free.

Understand you had to cut it short, but I'll miss the the country side and your videos. Take care till next time!!
What about as a walk for someone that hasn't been to England? A good way to see the country, or are there better options?
Hi, take a little break at home and get back out to Reeth and complete the walk, just get it out u system for good.
