  • This is an easy way to boost your old batteries to get more last out of them. All you need us a bulb, 24v bulbs work best.
    Never hook a bulb up direct to a lithium battery. As this will distory a new type lithium battery.

    Good tip for reviving nicd's nimh , it's one of the reasons RC chargers have that function built in, some of my rc batteries aren't used for ages, ive got an old 20 volt Dewalt sds i may not get an adapter for, this keeps it goin, cheers Dean.

    Hello. I enjoy watching many of your videos.
    I have something to add about NIMH cells. Yes, it is older technology, but has improved a lot over the years. I have NIMH battery cells from Panasonic that keep the charge for years, even some Hybrid cars use NIMH as they have li-ion similarities today. What kills NIMH is too low volts per cell, not below 0.9V. No battery cell like to be discharge completly.
    Nimh is better in cold weather, but the energy density is somewhat less than Li-ion. There are advantages and disadvantages to all types of batteries. I'm not a big fan of li-ion as they are fragile and NIMH is more forgiving.

    Just subbed Dean great vid . I have a few nicad that don't work and the tools do . I think the Li converter looks like the solution. Thanks again from Galway.

    I always thought those lights that came in those old combo kits where just thrown in as a cheap extra to wear our your batteries. Turns out they have a use after all

    Can you plug the battery into your drill and just run it until it dies or does the bulb trick need to be done?

    Thank you for the video. Can you please send me links for the bulb, the bulb holder and also the commercially built unit which does the same as the bulb with the charger combined in the routine. Thanks.

    Zlyszalem o wkladaniu do lodówki że to ma zniszczyć nalot na elektrodach katoda o anoda i ożywić baterię ale o tej żarówce nie słyszałem że zrobi to samo!

    Are there any devices to cycle lithium batteries?

      the same imax b6 he showed in the video can do basically any battery chemistry.

      Well, cycling works only for NiCd/Nimh. Li-on don´t have memory effect. Cycling Li-on battery won´t bring more capacity. Li-on lose capacity with use (charging/discharging), also when they are below 2.5V. When they are below 2.5V, their internal resistance rise (they can´t provide designed current), they lose capacity rapidly and will self-discharge faster, when charged.

      @@SnekSnack I usually discard cells when they are 2.5v all that you said makes sense

    • @SnekSnack
      @SnekSnack ปีที่แล้ว

      @@doctorlefthandthread When they are 2.5V - They can be charged back maybe without damage. Damage happen, when they sit low below 2.5V (2V, 1V or discharged to 0V).

    The charger won’t charge ni cad to lithium so you need a new charger don’t you.
