Would it be possible to do a video, something like ‘Trackman For Dummies’? I’m a beginner golfer and lucky enough to have a Trackman range by me, however I’m not sure how to get the best out of it to help me understand the key things to look out for, and how it can help me as I progress and improve. I’m sure other golfers will be in the same boat as me. Love the channel. Cheers.
@@jaredsauber6430 Yeah I saw the video after this one. Even if he did a TopTracer vid, quite a bit of the info would apply to Trackman or other launch monitors.
I'm 68. In my 40's I played the tips and shot in the 70's with my 2 best rounds being +2. Pretty good play. Moved up to the men's tees for awhile and OK. Now when I play the men's tees, my second shots on par 4's and tee shots on a lot of par 3 are out of range for any irons. I now play with some guys the same age or close that had moved up to the senior tees. It's making golf fun again because of more shots at greens and chances to score. I recently played a stretch of 11 holes +1. So, hell yes, move up.
Please show Guy's live score in Break 75! He's an amazing addition to the podcast, and try to improve your body language Rick when he's speaking. Still looks like you're annoyed whenever he talks...
Why don't we have any grass ranges in Manchester anymore & when they do it's irons only. Always find the driver seems different off a tee than the rubber ones
I just played a round and thought of this episode! At our club they are not called men's or women's tees but rather just colours and at the 1st and 9th there is a diagram showing which tee you should use based on the distance you can drive. What I realised is this is also defined to keep things running smoothly. I had two elderly gentlemen in front of me obviously seasoned golfers but they just could not drive it as far as they probably could back in the day. This means it sometimes took them two shots for them to get out of my range which started hold things up at a certain point.
My golf friends, last year started playing from the red tees (Ladies tees) We are all over 70 with now 2 over 80. The change last year made a huge difference in our enjoyment of the game. Now we had a chance to hit some greens in regulation and get a few pars, the occasional birdie and at the very least play bogie level golf. Playing the wrong tees, not well, destroys your enjoyment and takes away the fun and camaraderie of the game which is in fact why we are playing it. Love the videos, love the show. Thanks, Terry. Bloomfield Canada. God Save the King.
My dad after having a carpel tunnel operation 2 weeks before won our local Stapleford competition off the white tees on Sunday. He is 73. We always Play white tee off and when its yellow tees golf will feel much easier
I am a solid golfer (2hdc) I believe people need to be self aware and play from whatever tee box is right for them. I normally play Blue/black which are the 2 furthest tee's, however on occasion I will play from white and I've also played twice from red after a shoulder injury. Novice golfers no matter the age IMO should play forward tee's until the can shoot 5 rounds in a row under 95. Then move back one tee box and shoot under 90 5 times. This will push you too learn the skills that count no matter the length.
Played a Pro-Am in Keystone, CO yesterday and although I didn't play their tips which I usually do, we played off the blue tees and I still played terribly....Sometimes the tees aren't the reason for playing bad golf lol but it definitely helps to play from a distance you have a chance at doing well. however, your handicap will be applied accordingly. You aren't going to go from an 18 handicap to a 12 just because you shot an 79 from the whites when you usually play the blues.
I must start to say congratulations for 10 wonderful years with TH-cam, the work that you have done is amazing and its so fun to see in which position that have taken you, so well deserved!!!! And I look forward to many more great years!!! To watch your discussions makes my day, its so interesting, keep it up!!! // Cheers from Sweden
I agree about the tee boxes. The only major venue I have ever played was Torrey Pines. I looked at the scorecard, and there were two options for me (green or white). Playing the green tees would mean a lot of long irons and fairway woods for approach shots. Playing the whites, while a little on the short side on some holes, would give me a chance to have more fun. So, even though the 3 men I was paired with played the green tees, I played the whites and had a great time, even getting a birdie on 18. A fun bit of trivia from that round involved the 13th. My playing partners, who were locals, directed me to a tee box 100 yards behind us. It was the US Open tee box. From that tee, there is a large canyon between the tee and the rest of the hole, with a 220 yard carry just to reach the rough on the other side. For me, a “bogey” golfer, reaching the fairway would be “possible”, but would take a very long drive, and just getting to the rough would be a relief. For me, the smart shot would be a layup to the other tee boxes to play around the canyon and not over. So, while I played tees that were sometimes close to 100 yards shorter than the pros, I am not a pro, and there is no sense in pretending I am. It makes more sense to have some fun out there.
My hpc is 15.4, and I started playing from the middle tee at my home course a few months ago, and I absolute LOVE it. From the back tee, I would normally have about 150-180 meters to the green after my drive. That would be my 6 iron to 5 hybrid to reach the green, but at that distance I'm not precise enough, so I always ends in bunker, long, short, left, right... Now from the middle tee I have 120-150 meters, then we talk 9-6 iron. And that distance is doable. And making that GiR from 140 meters, is just so more satisfying, then chipping close to the pin from 15 meters.
our local course here in US has; blue; white; gold; and red! Red tees are women's tee; gold tees are designated for 60+ age and higher handicaps; white is regular and blue is championship and single handicappers!
I'm almost 62, play to an 8 hdcp from the regular men's tees. The course I play most often isn't super long from the tips (6700 yds) and about 6500 yds from the regular men's tees. Recently I played with a few guys older than me who played the senior tees (6000 yds) so I played from those tees. Different game, had to use irons off the tee on some of the par 4's to stay short of the water or bunkers. Scored 5 strokes lower than usual. While it was fun, I still feel I can play the men's tees and still enjoy the round. I do see how playing up can make the game more enjoyable; I pick the tee's based on yardage instead of name.
Hi Guys, CONSISTENCY = Golf psychology. If you have a strong mind and zone in on every shot, then it's just a mental thing... love the podcasts, break 75 vlogs etc..... Keep it up.
10:54 - that one double-page spread encapsulated my entire junior golf career. Started with the Fazer Contender Series II set, then moved to the King Cobra II irons which tragically got nicked out of the back of my car some years later. What a trip down memory lane...
I loved the discussion around consistency. You both continuously touch on this subject and you both nail it everytime. When you guys talk like this it's therapeutic, reassuring and real! Keep knocking it out of the park ⛳️😃⛳️😃
My course has black, blue, white, red and green (green for seniors and juniors). Played yesterday and watched the group - 4 men - in front of me tee of #1. One of the men played from the red tees. His tee shot was 40 yards forward and 30 yards right. Afterwards I learned this was the first time 2 of the men have ever played. I am very glad those 2 were "man enough" to play from the "red" tees.
I wanted a set of those Lynx Black Cat irons so bad back in the day. I still look on eBay occasionally for a set. Slazenger had some Black Label balls that would spin on the street, but the covers were paper thin, cut immediately
I use ladies tees when I play comp against my longer hitting friend. I’m a tidy player but only hit my driver 190y and my 7 iron 120y, so used to struggle competing as my approach shot was usually a 5 wood in to the green when playing off yellows (a tough shot for a low handicapper). Off reds it’s a mid iron which is much more in keeping with his approach off yellows. My gross scores have come down from high 90s to high 80s and our comps are much more competitive. I am really enjoying my golf now.
I got to say the sooner people start calling them forward tees rather than ladies tees the better. one of the you tube channels i follow has an 80yr old golfer OMP, very very good golfer but struggles now off the yellows. so they let him play of the red tees(forward tees) and he is so much happier not having to hit driver ,driver on par 4's or driver on a longer par 3, which means he often ends up in bunkers or is very long through green. now off the red tees he can hit an iron which means he can play like the rest of us. much more confidence, much happier as well. thats whats golfs about. enjoyment, not snobbery. congrats on your 10 years. i am not surpised though, great content every time rick. i remember using balata balls about 25 years ago. would tear the cover to shreds after 2 holes. great spin on greens though
I have been told many times since I turned 60 to play the tees that you can score well from. It quickens play and allows you to play with more confidence.
100% agree with playing tees that match your distance. My home course has a sign with driving distance ranges associated with each tee. Tips are recommended for 270+ yards. They also have combination options at most courses now to help get total yardage of a course in line with what works for you. It’s nice because my 25 year old son hits it much further than I do now so playing different tees may seem odd, but it plays out to where we’re hitting similar irons into greens because he’s two clubs longer with iron as well. It really equalizes to similar skills rather than distance giving him such a big advantage. Plus I can shoot better scores on a 6000 -6400 yards vs 7000 yards with forced carries I can’t make anymore or hitting driver into par 3s.
I've said this often...the pros hit into par 4s with short irons or wedges, are up in 2 on par 5s most of the time. Why should I have to hit hybrids or fairway woods for pars 4, driver 3 wood, long iron on par 5s? Why should my game be SO much harder than the pros??? I'm almost 70 so I figure I've earned the right to play from the tees that make my game as easy as the pro's game.
I got back into the game after a 20 year hiatus and initially had started with a combination of the front and second level tees. I think based on the yardage of the course, handicap and carry off of your driver is a good set of information of which tee to play off of.
I completely agree on the different tee point. I went up to my local course recently where I am a member, with the intention of playing of the back tees. I teed my ball up on the first and before I could hit my ball an older member shouted over to me to move my ball to the yellow tee as the back (white) tee is for medals only. I explained that I was just looking to get some practice off the white tee before the weekend medal. He was very insistent that I move my ball and not looking to create an issue I did as I was told. Daft rule and the explication of protecting the tee makes no sense as the ladies play of the red/forward tee regardless of comp or general play. Another archaic rule of golf that needs to change..
I could maybe see the point on a par 3 where people are often using no tee and peeling divots left right and centre. Not on or 4 and 5 tees though. But he just sounds like a pr1ck. Golf seems to attract a lot of them if we’re to be honest.
I was at Wentworth on Saturday & Sunday. Was a great experience. I'm not sure about the type of crowd as I wasn't around the 14th Green at all. However, the crowd was huge around Rory Mcilroy but was incredibly quiet whenever any other player was around. With regards to the "man bags" I'm almost certain, small man bags were being sold in the shops as you came through the front entrance.
In the last week I have started playing the yellow tees. I'm 61, and have lost about 30 yards on the driver in the last few years. Have scored mid 80's on the rounds that I have played, and know I've left strokes on the course with bad approaches, duffed chips, and a couple 3 putts every round. Can see an 80 in my future. Made the game more fun.
I played in Portugal last week and the tees at both courses were numbered related to distance e.g. 55 for 5500 yards, 61 for 6100 yards. I saw people play off every different tee and I'm sure it was a much more enjoyable experience for everyone with the pace of play being pretty good too.
I played at Panmure last year, a group that had been told to play from the yellows we’re playing from the white (longest tees). They were holding up the entire golf course.
I recently played of the forward tees at my home course for the first time when me and my dad made a friendly competition (match play). I quite a bit longer off the tee compared to my dad, but when playing of the forward tees I couldn't always take advantage of that extra distance so there were actually a lot of holes that were more difficult when playing against my dad. I was down by 3 with 3 holes to play but I managed to sharpen up and win the last three holes for a tie.
Goodness me I used to get those brochures, flashback on the LCG burners (in my loft somewhere but were fitted through a club) and the Ralph Lauren kit !!!
Me, my Dad & 2 uncles played a course last month and we went off the ladies tees accidently (the course' ladies tees were yellow....). We had an absolute blast. Handicaps are 4, 10, 12 & 26 and we all had good fun. It was easier for the higher handicapper and the lower guys played much better and enjoyed it so much. I'd definitely recommend playing from the forward tees in casual play going forward
watch every week while doing my work order and emails! Yall make my off days off golf better and my anticipation for golf day sky high! stay gold and put GUY in more videos
Ill play the forward tees on par 5 holes, and par 3 and 4s from the middle tees. Every now and then we'll play from the back tees. It all depends with the group I'm with.
Definitely I got stuck behind a senior comp last year who were playing from the white tees and the seniors we saw could hardly reach the Fairway on some holes. I know all seniors aren't the same but why not play from the yellow or red tees .on the flip side I saw a group of seniors play from the red tees this year I'm sure they enjoyed their round more.
I'm in my mid-50s, been playing for about ten years. I don't play regularly...I was playing once a week, earlier this year, but it was a brutally hot summer and between that and work, I didn't make it out much. But I don't have golf buddies. Some of my friends play and we'll sync schedules enough to play once or twice a year, but I usually end up playing with whoever happened to schedule the same tee time, and I usually play form whichever tees they're using. I haven't noticed a significant difference in my game, no matter which tees I play from. My weakness is in my short game...no matter which tees I'm using, I'm usually scoring bogey or double-bogey, even on relatively short par 3 holes where my first shot lands on the green.
Really it's up to the golfer what tee they want to play. For years I have played the white tees because that is where most of my friends have played from. I currently drive the ball on average 192, carry is very dependent on time of day (morning dew) and season (I live in south Texas). Recently I was playing with a group of players off the gold tees. I find the same holes very different from the gold tees, and the defenses the course offers are different, but I find it more enjoyable, not sure if that is the group or the slight shortening of the course. Since I can hit my 2 and 3 hybrids almost as far as my driver, sometime farther I feel at home with both, however the choice is always mine. The question is one of ego. It's worth remembering that shortening the course a little doesn't necessarily mean you will score better. Most pros are over par on par threes, marginally under par-on-par fours, and make their bank on par fives. At least for me the difference between a 400 yard par 4 for me is going to be a short iron vs a long iron/hybrid, it's still going to take two good shots to make the green.
Forward tees? I had never played them before... which is probably a misstep on my part as I am a casual golfer who can only shoot high 90s on a good day. But I took my 10 year old to play his first round of golf a couple of weeks ago and we played the forward tees at a course I've played a dozen times or more. It was awesome! Firstly, I think my son appreciated it as we were doing something truely together. Second, not only did the forward tees shorten the course, it took a lot of trouble out of play. Third, it put the right club in my hand off the tee much more often. Rather than trying to hit long irons on long par 3s I had 8 irons. Rather than trying to wish a 7 iron into the short par 3, I was able to stick a wedge / 9 iron. Tight driving holes with a driver from the whites were all of a sudden wide open AND I could hit an iron or 5 wood and still have a second shot into the green. Super fun! We played alone, and hit two balls each around 9 holes as there was noone ahead or behind us. Lovely lovely day. Would do it again in a heart beat, and would recommend it to anyone at any level for a bit of fun.
Bringing up the consistency thing I was think just what you guys are saying golf would be SOOO boring just hitting my drive straight every time. I enjoy digging around after I sliced one into the woods. Because if my next drive goes straight the feeling is better than anything in the world. Great podcast
Went to BMW Championship in the US last year in Maryland. Had an all you can drink ticket for somewhere around $275 if I remember right. I absolutely drank to get my money's worth, as did everyone else. Place got rowdy, next to 18th. Was a blast.
I’m fairly new to the sport and mainly get out for 9 holes after work in the week. Have played off the forward tees a number of times as my biggest weakness is off the tee. This has given me different shots into greens that I wasn’t previously having. Has really helped my game and kept it fun when having those bad days off the tee.
Great podcast again fellas keep up the great work, me and my mate sometimes play off the ladies tees, with just using irons to help with improving iron play.
If you’ve had fitted irons and your loft isn’t standard, is it worth getting the loft checked every year to see if the loft has changed due to range use?
On that point Rick most golfs I know and myself if the noise is consistent. We as golfs can block it out but if the noise goes silent or goes up dramatically will bother most golfers . I did a test on a friend of mine “ it was impromptu “ he plays music when he plays so I picked up his phone an turned it up before he hit the ball but in his back swing I turned off the music . He topped his ball it was funny and he wasn’t playing for money . So if people just honor this noise control most golfers will me find.
I have a question and I would love both of your inputs. I have finally beaten my dad at golf, I strive to break 90, but my dad can break 80 on a regular basis. but he is starting to get older and his swing speed is starting to decrease and on those days, he will duff the ball more. It's hard to suggest that he gets graphite shafts and increase shaft length because the standard iron specs my dad has used for about 50 yrs. it's hard to suggest graphite shafts and increase shaft length cause it may sound insulting. what would be both of your advice towards this problem.I shot an 86 and my dad shot an 89 just fyi
Great show. I played golf for more than 20 years and had never been explained about what Tees to play from. Probably would have been much more enjoyable playing from forward tees. Now I play FlingGolf and play from forward tees since the Driving distance is shorter than clubs. And now the game is far more enjoyable. Thanks for your show.
I am not a Long hitter at all and play tees between 5800-6200 yds. My local club and a few others in Denmark changed the tees from colors to numbers, where 52 means about 5200m, 57 about 5700m and so on.
My first full set of Clubs were Howson Derby 2s (left-handed) in 1992. I think the whole set with bag and woods was less than £200. There was not a wide selection of left handed clubs for beginners back then!
Talking about consistency, I play with a buddy that will shoot around 86 literally every time out. His best rounds, 84. Worst rounds, 88. Doesn't matter if he played yesterday or hasn't played for 3 months, he's always in the 84 - 88 range. Mental.
I very much enjoyed watching the featured groups on TH-cam at the PGA Championship. Much better viewing experience than the normal sky broadcasts. If we get the choice of groups/holes to watch (live they do at the masters - red button) the experience is much more engaging.
Sorry, but I take exception to Billy Horschel being so outspoken about LIV. His main sponsor on his hat is Velocity Global, a company that does business with Saudi Arabia. So is it "good Saudi money" if it has been through one level of cleaning? Would love to hear your thoughts.
I'm a new golfer, I've gone from 120 to 88 this year. I play the tips. Why? Because of all the extra golf you get to play from the extra distance. I looked at every hole as a DBL Bogey = Par until I broke 108. Then I looked at all Par 4s and 5s as par 6 until I broke 100. Then I looked at every whole as a Bogey=Par until I broke 90. Now I am looking to break 85 and 80 and play the course to standard par. I think shortening the course to give yourself an artificially low score is not good for your overall practice and learning Now I l
Hi guys first of all GREAT PODCAST as usual. As you were flicking through Guys golf brochure, I noticed the taylormade burner irons on one of the pages. Well a few weeks ago I found 3 taylormade burner irons 4,7,9 Bubble shaft. For £6 in my local charity shop. Couldn't believe it had to pick them up. Keep up the good work R and G. 👍👍👍👍👍
i thought hitting off mats in general would stress graphite shafts, i guess it depends on if theres decent padding under the mat or not. What i dont like is that you really cant fat it at all so you get a false response, it sure is fun hitting off a mat, its been literally 10yrs since i have, does the fake grass still melt onto the bottom of your irons?
county golf are still going, and i have bought shirts off their website at discounted prices! Defo worth a look on their website. Believe they are based in Yorkshire... I think they just do clothing now and accessories no equipment!
I went to a lot of the Volvo PGA Champs at Wentworth in the 1990s, when I was starting out in golf. And the Toyota World Matchplays each October. I have all the programmes and draw sheets, I think I went in 1999. Always been a great event and I go to the BMW most years.
In Vancouver the term 'ladies tees' has gone and the tees are marked either by driving distance or average score. It is the way it should be done everywhere. Its not the PGA tour and I know and have played with plenty of women that would crush me on the course
Would like to see Rick and Guy team up in some matches. Every time he plays and it’s posted to the channel, I find it very enjoyable and entertaining to watch. You guys are awesome. Thank you for all the entertainment over the years. Job well done.
Play from the tees that suits your abilities and maximises the fun for you. It really annoys me we still refer to the front tees as “ladies”. Not only is it a historic and sexist way of referring to them, it is also attaching a stigma which plays to the stereotypical macho bravado that exists in the game.
I’ve seen more people online are trying to push to calling them the “forward tees” and that’s what I refer to them as now, problem is most people are gonna call it ladies tees anyways. Too engrained into the culture
I’m a 15 handicapper that can hit a driver 300 and have started playing off of the back tees because it’s boring playing a round with a driver then a wedge on every par 4 on shorter courses
At my Club in Denmark we have numbered tees after yardage of the course (tee 58 = 5800 meters, tee 64 = 6400 meters) You would still call it mens and Ladies tees, but it is actually fun to play from different tees, because you play it in another way then you Normally would
In Florida most courses have either 4 or 5 tees to choose from and you pick one with the total yardage that you're comfortable with. They don't call them senior tees or ladies tees
Yes absolutely. Okay I am a senior, 62 but I can still manage to hit 7-iron 160 yards. For me it is no fun hitting five-iron to three-wood on a par four. Playing on tees that you can manage makes the game play faster and more fun.
I was research handicaps and slope rating and how they adjust handicaps . When two people play their tees where their handicap was established there are in my opinion is not fair. Explain one competitor plays forward tees and has a 8 handicap the other competitor plays the back tees and has a 8 handicap . But because the slope from the back is higher the player has to give up strokes to the competitor on the back tees. This makes no since to me . Rick could you explain this to me?
Once in awhile I will play from a variety of tees during a round. Any par four over 420 yards, I might move up a tee, same goes for par threes over 200 yards. I am 70 years old and play to a 4 handicap from the men’s tees at my club. The course from the men’s tees is only 6,000 yards, so When I am not playing alone, I always play from the appropriate tees.
This may be a controversial opinion, but I would also recommend moving to further back tees as well. I am a fairly long hitter that struggle with consistency and course management. I found course management to be significantly easier from the back tees, taking out driver and most of the time.
Using senior tees- I'm a senior but should play off of blue pro tees as I out drive my group by 75-80yrds easily. It's great plan to work on short game.
RIck, for the folks that complain about you not getting a video out, how long does it take you to play a round for content? So the average 18 holes takes 3.5-4 hours. When you are recording your round, how long does it take? Not even including the editing I imagine the recording adds a ton of time to the round.
The inconsistency of golf is what makes golf so fun for me. Yes it can be a bit frustrating at times. shooting a 10 on a hole or missing that putt by lip out. But then the next hole you have the most beautiful drive and all that frustration from the previous hole goes away. Always remember a bad round of golf is always better than a good day of work!!
As someone new to golf and sucks. Yes you can get more consistent as your skill improves. I'm getting more consistent in finding fairways. I'm getting more consistent on having decent chips. I'm consistently striking the ball better.
Played in a medal at my club last week. Playing on till I got to hole 12 and shot a ten! Bad tee shot, got stuck in a bush, penalty drop them in the water so another penalty drop etc. Joked I needed to par my way in to score half decent. Actually shot 1 over for the last 6 holes!! Well chuffed and hcp went down 0.2!!
I play at 7 and played 2 of my friends in skins, they both shoot over 110. I had them move up to the "front" tees and gave them each 2 strokes on each hole. One of the funnest rounds we ever played, they lost fewer balls, had more fun and shot better scores. They went up 5 skins early on, but in the end I had to shoot a 76 to win by 1 skin.
Dear Rick, can you please clarify your ongoing position with performance54 since they have been bought out by LIV golf backers the Saudi investment fund. Thank you.
Mygolfspy just posted a fascinating article about Rick Shiels and Performance54 and the relationships of Saudi money and the LIV with many connections. This post is by no means meant to cause any issues Rick, but I would be extremely interested to see you address this. I like the LIV tour and I think there's a lot of projection and hypocrisy going around. Glad you've benefitted Rick and I hope you address this in a podcast! Looking forward to it!
I wish more American golf courses would use handicaper markers insead of colors. The course I play at, have so mnay players that play the wrong tee markers over pride vs. ability which in turn slows play down so much. I realize Muni courses it's tough, but I still think it could be implimented. I is great to see the old timers move up to the forward tees, because of ability for distance, they are having fun and enjoying the course and keeping pace of play, which is my biggest peev.
My buddy played with some baseball legends from our hometown, he literally got on Twitter and asked if they wanted to play golf during the pandemic and they said yes. I asked him what was it like and what they talked about. He said it was 100% golf and he never got to talk to them about baseball because they were playing their best rounds of the year that day
We followed Patrick Reed around for quite a few holes on Saturday. He personally was a gentleman, especially with a little girl who was asking the her dad a lot of questions while the group was getting ready to tee it up after a lengthy wait. The fans that we were around watching Reed were respectful as they always are in the UK. IMO he was a top man.

They use TopTracer
@@jaredsauber6430 Yeah I saw the video after this one. Even if he did a TopTracer vid, quite a bit of the info would apply to Trackman or other launch monitors.
Do a Green, Blue, Black, Double Black & Yellow like snow skiing :) ?

I have some old howson DJ 100 golf clubs if you'd like them for a review or a Laugh. 🙂
Why don't we have any grass ranges in Manchester anymore & when they do it's irons only. Always find the driver seems different off a tee than the rubber ones
Gentlemen, Love the podcasts. I am a PGA Professional in the USA and made 18 pars one time and is still one of the greatest accomplishments.
i made 18 pars aswell over 20 rounds
@@mysticalbeing8943 Me too, but actually made 18 pars in one round. Not good putting though.

I too have found that much of my enjoyment comes from where I’m hitting my second shot. Six to nine iron is probably the most enjoyable range.
our local course here in US has; blue; white; gold; and red!
So funny, I just upgraded my Lynx irons back in January and I still use my Olimar Trimetal 3 wood. Still hit it great.
"That's golf" is my mantra. You guys are the best! Always look forward to any new episode, whether podcast, Break 75 or whatever. Keep it up!
I had that before. I told him 2 f**k off, keep walking and mind his own business.
I could maybe see the point on a par 3 where people are often using no tee and peeling divots left right and centre. Not on or 4 and 5 tees though. But he just sounds like a pr1ck. Golf seems to attract a lot of them if we’re to be honest.
Maybe go to the course on days or in a time frame where there are less golfers playing. You can ask the people at the desk about it.
Forget top tracer you should be an ambassador for golf period… got back into golf after 10years due to your content keep smashing it and thankyou
I played in Portugal last week and the tees at both courses were numbered related to distance e.g. 55 for 5500 yards, 61 for 6100 yards. I saw people play off every different tee and I'm sure it was a much more enjoyable experience for everyone with the pace of play being pretty good too.
They have the numbers here in Denmark now as well. It’s a great idea and everyone can play to their own experience.
Definitely
I got stuck behind a senior comp last year who were playing from the white tees and the seniors we saw could hardly reach the Fairway on some holes.
We have a course on first tee with a sign. The sign shows driver distance and which color you should tee off.
I'm playing a longer course today. Even from the whites its long. Thinking of moving to the forward tees. We will see how it goes.
I LOVED those TM LCG irons. In fact, bought them new, and only took them out of the bag Last Year. They were amazing, I will die on that hill. haha
Where is the golf lesson you gave Richard Hamond??
Playing off the reds is like ordering a half pint, makes a lot of sense but your mates will still take the piss
I think shortening the course to give yourself an artificially low score is not good for your overall practice and learning

Wow! That’s cool haha! Cheers
i thought hitting off mats in general would stress graphite shafts, i guess it depends on if theres decent padding under the mat or not.
That goosebumps folder brought back some fantastic memories. Cheers Guy
I went to a lot of the Volvo PGA Champs at Wentworth in the 1990s, when I was starting out in golf. And the Toyota World Matchplays each October. I have all the programmes and draw sheets, I think I went in 1999. Always been a great event and I go to the BMW most years.
Very cool!
Turned 60 in may, league play I’m allowed to play the senior tees. Golf is fun again
In Vancouver the term 'ladies tees' has gone and the tees are marked either by driving distance or average score.
It is the way it should be done everywhere. Its not the PGA tour and I know and have played with plenty of women that would crush me on the course
Would you rather get only Par on every hole for the rest of your golfing carrier?
Or
Shoot 59 One time at your home course?
Would like to see Rick and Guy team up in some matches. Every time he plays and it’s posted to the channel, I find it very enjoyable and entertaining to watch. You guys are awesome. Thank you for all the entertainment over the years. Job well done.
I still have the burner lcg irons in graphite shafts 😂 in the garage
If Rick played of the red tees at JCB he might break 75
Play from the tees that suits your abilities and maximises the fun for you. It really annoys me we still refer to the front tees as “ladies”. Not only is it a historic and sexist way of referring to them, it is also attaching a stigma which plays to the stereotypical macho bravado that exists in the game.
I’ve seen more people online are trying to push to calling them the “forward tees” and that’s what I refer to them as now, problem is most people are gonna call it ladies tees anyways. Too engrained into the culture
@@brodydroppleman7559 Yeah it will take time to eradicate the prior language used. Great to hear you are doing your part.
@@LemonJelly360 you know what I get it. Around here all the “ Ladies tees” are red. Simple fix. Change the color call them forward.
I’m a 15 handicapper that can hit a driver 300 and have started playing off of the back tees because it’s boring playing a round with a driver then a wedge on every par 4 on shorter courses
Nice one guys, always an awesome show!
Thank you!
I liked the discussion on consistency. Really made me think, and I think it was a good take.
This may be a controversial opinion, but I would also recommend moving to further back tees as well. I am a fairly long hitter that struggle with consistency and course management. I found course management to be significantly easier from the back tees, taking out driver and most of the time.
Someone said to me whatever you hit your 5 iron x36 should be about the course distance you should play from
One of my local golf clubs labels tees by handicap. They write it on the tee marker.
Condolences to the family from your friends in the States. Elizabeth II was absolute class for so many years.
People love to hate others that’s all. He’s a masters champion and was ranked as the best putter in the PGA almost right up until he left for LIV
