    Down here in Ga, even with the slowest hardener, it will kick off way too fast. You make it look easy.

    critical step to help create stress relief in the construction.
    Also nice to see some of the bulkheads in place during the opening sequences

    Great lesson in boat building! Love the makeshift fillet gun, a Ziploc bag, definitely cuts costs.

    Great video nice to see the lines of the boat as you lay down the fillets also thanks for breaking down the hours, it sure is a marathon and not a sprint in some aspects of the build. Also, can't get much more Canadian then reusing Timmy's cups eh!

      Not as big a Marathon as most boat builds though. Thanks Allan and looking forward to seeing your progress.

    Wooden tongue depressors make great fillet applicators, they have a similar radius (about 20mm - 3/4”). If I want a square end I just hit them with a chisel at an angle - slightly off square is usually the best I find. I buy them by the 400 box which locally costs me about $15.00NZ. I also have a couple of modified plastic plaster spatulas for when I need a real wide angled fillet. Keep up the good work! Glassing here we come. Cheers

    • @RoversAdventure
      @RoversAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great point and I will give it a try as I too have a box of tongue depressors.

      On the Ocean Capable Small Sailboat channel, he's using silicone spatulas to great effect for creating fillets. They work so well that I've gone out and bought a couple for the upcoming filleting work on my dinghy.

    Exactly the same as when I filletted my Mirror dinghy but on a much larger scale.

    • @RoversAdventure
      @RoversAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nothing about this build is overly hard, it's just a matter of pecking away at it bit by bit.

      @@RoversAdventure I would say the hardest part is finding somewhere to do the work, especially here in the UK where land and buildings are so expensive.

      @@tonysutton6559 I hear you my friend. This boat shed is a 40 min drive from my home and on top of that I am paying market rent. I hope to get it to my property when it is at a stage where I can move it.

    Thank you again Alan for this week's update. Do you have a source for the plastic chisels you were using? Take care and best wishes to you, Mrs. Wave Rover and Mr. Speckles.

      Small strips of 3-4mm ply (or any timber for that matter), sharpened like a chisel, and or skewed left n right make excelent cleanup tools for filleting.

    • @RoversAdventure
      @RoversAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of the online Chandelier seem to carry them. I like them because they are easy to clean and reusable. However, as some folks have said, a sharpened tongue depressor would work well.

      @@DVolvoguy777-x7o I just looked it up. A lot of similarities in the building jargon for both. This week I am working on longitudinal frames (longerons) however it won't be seen for a few weeks due to the magic of the Wave Rover Timeline, lol.

    So iow’s a fillet rounds off the angle so the glass has more surface area to bond with which increases strength and eliminates air pockets? Spring is on the way and not a moment too soon.

    • @RoversAdventure

      It's not too difficult to get these right, and one should should always strive to do just that, but the design has a fair amount of redundancy built in.
