    I've had the Sisu mouthguard for around 2 years now and I still use the exact same one. You can change the mouthguard to the shape of you mouth how ever many times as you want. I don't even notice it when I'm playing and I would recommend it.

    Took me 3 chipped teeth and 13 concussions but I finally started wearing one. They always made me gag. But the Sisu ones aren't so bad. Better than memory loss, which I have. Trust me. Get a damn mouth guard.

      You would of been done with the sport after a Max of 3 concussions with 13 concussions you would probably be dead or have severe problems

    • @Twin-cr7mo
      @Twin-cr7mo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Is that your professional opinion as a Neurologist? The Glasgow Coma Scale classifies TBIs into three categories, Mild, Moderate, and Severe. Most of mine were mild. Two of them were moderate and none were severe. But the the little ones add up. And it's the BHL not the NHL. If you think i'm gonna give up a game I've been playing since 1973 because of a few injuries, then you're as much of an idiot as you are a lifeless internet troll.

    • @kbl1978
      @kbl1978 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Iusechopsticks is from SISU site...Please go to their site. Below is what from the questions and answer
      Yes, you can absolutely fit your SISU Mouthguard with braces. But before you run for the bowl of hot water, we want to take you through the steps of fitting the guard with braces. There is a bit of a learning curve, so please make sure to read through the rules below to help you with your fitting:
      1. USE THE RIGHT SIZE
      All athletes ages 7 and up must use the adult size SISU, the SISU Aero Guard or the SISU Max Guard.
      2. CONSIDER A MOUTHGUARD FOR YOUR BOTTOM TEETH
      SISU Mouthguards can be fitted to the top or bottom teeth. If you have braces, we recommend that you buy an additional guard to fit on your bottom teeth to prevent your lips from getting cut on the brackets. *NFHS wrestling rules require a top and bottom mouthguard for braces
      3. YOU MUST USE A BARRIER BETWEEN THE BRACKETS AND THE GUARD
      When submerged in hot water, the hard polymer SISU is made of will become soft and pliable. In this state, the mouth guard can bond with the dental brackets or any other polymer in your mouth. To prevent it, you should use a wax or foil barrier between the guard and the brackets. The good news is that you should only use the barrier during the fitting process. Once fitted, you can wear the guard right over the braces during games or practices.
      4. YOU SHOULD WORK WITH YOUR DENTAL PROFESSIONAL
      Braces are an investment in time and money, so you want to do it right. During critical times when your teeth are undergoing rigorous adjustments, your orthodontist may recommend an alternative solution, so not to hinder the progress of your treatment. Work with your dental professional to help you fit, and re-fit, your SISU when you come in for your adjustments.
      5. AS YOUR TEETH SHIFT, YOU SHOULD REFIT THE GUARD
      As your teeth shift during the orthodontic treatment, the mouthguard should be adjusted to fit your new shape. The guard is remoldable for up to 20 times, so you can continue using it, as your teeth shift and move. Simply bring it with you for each adjustment and it can be re-fitted right in the office with a bit of hot water (and the barrier). No impressions required!

    One thing not mentioned in the video, that should be known is that SISU is so confident in their product, that they have a one year dental warranty.
    It states that they will either (1) pay the actual medical expense or (2) give you just over $1000 per "injured or replaced tooth" up to $35000.
    Looking at the fine print, you just need to write a letter with accounts from the officials (or coach if it's a practice session) and a dentist within 30 days. You also have to send them the mouthguard, so they can see if it is unaltered.
    Disclaimer: If you plan on using SISU's dental warranty, please read the warranty for yourself, as I take no responsibility for improperly following their procedures.

    • @DrMarvinLara
      @DrMarvinLara 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every mouth guard brand has that warranty and always has. Been using all kinds since the 90's and you have to replace them every year

    Absolutely love my Sisu mouthguard. I play field hockey as a keeper and the Sisu is such a game changer. I first started playing field hockey 3 years ago and had braces at the time which meant I had to use the huge silicone ones which made it extremely difficult to breathe and yell to my defense. I started using my Sisu halfway through my second season and I loved it, molded absolutely amazingly to my braces and the best part was that I could remold it every time I had my braces adjusted and then again when I had my braces finally taken off. Absolutely love the Sisu, easy to talk and yell in, easy to breathe and stays is amazingly well which means no worries during high movement and yelling! Spend the extra cash and get a Sisu! You definitely won’t regret it.

    I dont use a mouth guard at all. I tried the multi-layer moldable one, and it was horrible and painful even after multiple fittings. I use a cage so I wasn't too worried about it. Still won't use one, but if I ever go visor, I will go with Sisu

    I’ve played hockey for 12 years and lacrosse for 3, have always used the chunky molded ones and eventually stopped wearing one because of how uncomfortable it was. Starting my first year of lacrosse I thought there was no way I was going to wear a hockey mouthguard on the field. Got a sisu and it’s amazing. Don’t even notice it’s in my mouth, I can talk perfectly fine and breathe fine too.

    Hi Hockey Tutorial,
    Thank you for your reviews on specific equipment and accessories such as skate protectors, mouth guards, skate tools and of course, skate sharpeners.
    A new product I discovered recently is the Aegis Interceptor neck guard and I think you may be interested in. It’s a shock protective (D3O) and cut resistant (Kevlar) neck guard. This is the future of neck guard, an essential piece of equipment that is often overlooked.
    Your videos are awesome, thank you so much!

    They are amazing. The one thing I will say, is that you have to ensure that once you've moulded it, that there are no jagged edges on the inside. I took a shoulder to the face and It cut the inside of my lip. Better than losing your teeth, but something to bear in mind!

    I am pretty sure the specifications say;

    It cannot be reshaped an infinite amount of times! It would for sure loose it’s protective benefits.

    Definitely looking at these mouthguards. I used to wear the shock doctor boil and bites and I would gag and be gassed out when I would roll in bjj. So i stopped wearing one. I also have invisalign so i know the feeling of retainers in my mouth. Even the cheapest mouth guards you can put in boiling water and mold it as well as shrink it. I done this for years when i played rugby because the only teeth that were going to get damaged were the front ones so I basically only shrunk the mouth guard to the front 6/8 teeth.

    I still wear a cage with my helmet because it’s required at my level so I’m not really worried about the protection aspect of mouth guard. My league requires mouth guards either way though. I have no problem with my mouth guard because I just put off to the side of my cage. But I did used to actually have it in my mouth at one point and It does interfere with my breathing, when I drink water, and when I’m trying to communicate with my teammates on the ice. So that mouth guard is definitely something I’ll have to look into.

    I'm a lacrosse goalie and I'm gonna get a sisu mouth-guard. I find it hard to communicate with my team with a normal one, and its annoying taking it out and putting it back in when I talk to a ref or get water. I don't really care if it doesn't provide a lot of protection, just looking for the bare minimum. It doesn't make sense to me why goalies are forced to wear mouth-guards.

    Used the boil mouthguards when I played softball in primary school and had no issues. Yes they were bulky but you were just like meh?
    I’ve had 7 teeth removed, an expanded and braces and I want top level protection cause so much time and energy has been put into making my teeth perfect XD
    But it does sound good for those that don’t like the bulkiness.

    I don’t know if this guy is Canadian or American but I get my mouth guards from Canadian tire. They do everything the Sisu mouth guard does. They only cost 5 bucks and offer the same features as the sisu; I can breath fine I can drink water and talk just fine as well. The only problem is I have to get a new one each season because the old one gets gross and out of shape. I do want to try one of these mouth guards but they just don’t seem very special to me

    Try instamorph thermoplastic. It is a bunch of thermoplastic beads you can heat up and fit to your mouth. It can also be used for a variety of other things, and is not specifically meant to be a mouthgaurd, but it works well and is cheaper.

    Confused why people don’t shop around for custom dental guards, not every dentist will charge $500. Mine was under $200 and insurance paid for almost all of it thanks to my dentist filing the claim.
    Tried SISU and hated it... hard as a rock and not nearly as comfortable (or protective) as my custom one.
    Agree it’s better than some other boil-and-bite options... but dentist made fits EXACTLY as it should, can drink and breathe without any issues.

    Sadly we don't have a hockey program at my school. I play football and it is required that we wear mouth guards and the only problem with the the rubber ones that I used was the restrictions of talking drinking and breathing. I bought a sisu and all those problems went away but what you have to realize is once the sisu hardens it's plastic. It hurts like hell to put in and out when youre scraping that hard plastic on your soft gums. Also I had braces a few years ago, they have been taking off, but my teeth still shift a little during the day. If anyone has wore a retainer before it feels like the first time you put the retainer in. I personally would not recommend the sisu mouth guard but it might just be due to my teeth movement. Otherwise it's a pretty nice mouthguard
    EDIT: Also the remolding aspect is somewhat false. I'm pretty sure that it can only be remolded 4-5 times to keep the warranty or that's how many times you can remold it before the plastic becomes weak

    This is my thought on mouth guards. First off, I’m not going to waste hundreds of dollars on a custom fit, specialized one from the dentist or orthodontist. I don’t have braces so I don’t have to wear a braces mouth guard. And the traditional boring ones don’t do much for protection and are very uncomfortable because they don’t mold to your mouth. I would either use a boil and bite one or a Sisu one. I feel like the boil and bite one is the most safe, however, it’s also super bulky and uncomfortable, and I happen to have the worst gag reflexes in the history of ever. Even if I cut it, I still gag or I’ll just let it hang on the side of my mouth. I really could not go even 5 minutes with that thing in my mouth, as to where Sisu is not as protective, but at least it’s comfortable as to where I’d be able to wear it all the time when I’m on the ice and it won’t fall out. What I’m trying to say is if I wear a boil and bite one then I probably won’t wear it all game because it’s so bulky and uncomfortable, so it does nothing for me as far as protection goes. But when I use the Sisu one, even though it is not as protective, at least I wear it all game or practice and get some form of protection as opposed to none.
