    Man, Thank you for taking the time to do this and posting! I had my plugs replaced by Volvo once and was shocked at the price. My fault for not researching. This was awesome. I too vacuumed as soon as the top cover was removed. I did use the anti-seize, a small amount, and as I threaded it in by hand, I made it point to come back up a little ad go back down on each one. Like others have said here, you just saved me about $200 bucks!!!

    Extremely reliable engines.... Hard runners if taken care of. My old s60 has 385k+ still purring

    Awesome thank you, followed all the way through.
    Saving around AUD$400+ last time for this job.
    Will look to see the upgrade on the high performance coil you suggested.
    Cheers from 'down under' Australia

    Great video! one little tip on removing the turbo hose. The front clamp is obviously the tough one to access. What I do is disconnect the rear of the hose only . it will give you enough flexibility to remove the dust cover bolts and access #4 coil and plug.

    I bought a 2005 s60 2.5t with a blown engine in awesome shape for $500 . My first volvo, I got it home took the valve cover off, and I didn't seem to have any kind of issues rebuilding. I drove the car at least 10k miles. Then sold for $1,800

    Just wanted to say that your video was extremely helpful. After watching it I felt confident to do the job. I have an 04 XC70 but the engine is the same. One thing that happened to me was a broke my dip stick handle when removing the turbo charger hose. Next time I'll remove it first, thank God for Super Glue as it quickly fixed it.

  • @AXuHEA
    @AXuHEA 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You don't need to remove turbo inner core line at all, just remove one T25 screw at the top to make it little moveable. Plenty of room to undo the cover and nothing will ever break. I change those plugs and cassettes probably 4-5 times already.

    Thanks for posting this video it helped me out alot on how to change my spark plug on a 05 xc90. I changed all 5 spark plugs and found out that number 2 coil was the problem replaced it with one from O Reillys and it runs smooth again. check engine light is still on but hope it turns off after a few drive cycles

    Thank you for the comment and for watching! You are absolutely right, and this is a step I completely missed, and did not film or mention in this video. In my later video (plugs for my Dakota), I mentioned this very step. Great advice and thanks for posting for other to benefit.

    Thanks for posting. I got an estimate yesterday to replace all 5 for $720., or the bad one for 300. Got some ordered with spark plugs, looks like I can do it in an hour. I think I can loosen the hose without removing, like in another video, save a little time.

    Excellent video. The only thing I would add is to vacuum engine top after the cover panels are removed and the plug hole before the plug is removed and after the plug is removed.

    Excellent point on the anti-seize, there have been a couple of times I have seen friends with fouled plugs because they got sloppy with it. Thanks for the comment and for the tips, and for watching!

    Question: will the difference in the gap have the potential to signal a code? I replaced mine but forgot to check the gap along with the coils (not thinking/remembering to do so) and after about 300 miles, error codes came back for all 5 coils. Just a rookie mechanic. Thanks for your time and the video.

  • @thomasjoyceSWAG
    @thomasjoyceSWAG 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just a comment, you are supposed to apply the dielectric grease to the seals, not on point of electrical contact. Also the anti seize on the spark plug should be rubbed lightly around the entire thread of the spark plug. If anti seize gets in the spark plug gap area, it will drastically affect performance and/ or may not fire on that cylinder properly which could damage your timing system. I don't like to use anti seize but rather use a slight coat of fogging oil. Just a tip

    Just watched the entire video, it was awesome and has inspired me to replace the spark plugs in 2005 XC70. The vehicles new to me and I'd like to do some minor maintenance myself. I don't have any of the tools you used and wondered if you could do a simple list on a reply please. I've also hear differing points of view on which spark plugs to get but I think I'll just stick with Volvo OEM, what do you think?

    @USMCslingshot Thanks for watching and for the comment! That is a great tip on the autozone parts, how are your rotors holding up? I am thinking the next time I do the brakes I will shop around at autozone. I am glad you were able to save your clip! Thanks again for watching!

    What if the 3rd cylinder is misfiring would it be the spark plug or the coil plug that goes on top of spark plug thanks.

    • @nick6703
      @nick6703 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Rivas could be either. start with doing plugs and if it does the work, do the coil packs, if that doesn't work do the wiring harness a and worst case ontario you do the computer

    Very help. Seems the 2004 XC90 take more work to remove other stuff. Have you seen the 2005 T5, it seems I only need to remove the top cover only with a few screws to get to the spark plugs , as there is no pipe to go across the engine block.

    • @therealflamelit
      @therealflamelit 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      that is the non turbo model..turbo model has the intercooler pipe

    Wouldn't there be some benefit to starting the car before reassembling the timing and valve covers, just to make sure everything's working as it should?

      SHELL G sounds like your transmission is stuffed.
      Your model is well known for its transmission failures.
      I have the Volvo xc90 2.5T that has a better matching engine and transmission match.

    • @blackhawk9272
      @blackhawk9272 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 6T is common for problems, you only have to read people review on Internet.
      You're better off selling your car and purchase a model that have better service history
