TIP: watch these DUTCH TV programs if you're learning Dutch!

Which DUTCH TV programs should you watch when you learn Dutch, and you want to practise listening to the Dutch language?
That depends mostly on your level of Dutch, but let's assume you can understand these 'Heb je zin?' lessons without subtitles?
Then I can recommend 3 programs:
1. Het Jeugdjournaal - the Children's news; very helpful to see the news of the day in simple language; the images will match with the text; and it's one topic after the other, so if you get lost... next minute there is a new chance with a new topic
2. Het Klokhuis - very helpful to learn vocabulary in a context; it's a children's program and every episode deals with 1 topic.
3. Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden (GTST) - if you like soap operas like 'Heb je zin?' then this is the one and only real Dutch soap opera.
If you're level of Dutch is advanced, watch:
- Zondag met Lubach
- De Wereld Draait Door! (dwdd)
Both programs are very popular, but a bit hard for beginners.

Yes, Zondag met Lubach is about politics and has lots of word jokes but that is what's great about it. Watching it with Dutch subtitles really gives a feel for the language, and when they do English subtitles it's great to watch a segment with them then watch again without to see how much you're retaining. Plus, it's really funny and I've learned so much about the Netherlands!

My favorite Dutch programs are (or were) the original Dutch version of Dancing with the Stars (NOT the horrible 2012 reboot!) -- Jan Postulart and I have been online friends for several years now -- and "Help! Papa Kookt" When I discovered that show on RTL, I thought it was one of the funniest shows I'd ever seen. And "Wie is de Mol?" also has a fairly large following here in the US.

I don't have TV cable, but you can watch Netflix for kids with Dutch subtitles. I use Reverso app to write down all the new words and I practice them regularly with Reverso. Success!

Het lijkt me handiger om ipv een informele vorm aan te leren die extra context vereist om correct te gebruiken, de gangbare universeel toepasbare vorm te gebruiken. Zeker omdat het door de ondertiteling lijkt alsof het in geschreven vorm ook acceptabel is.

Jammer dat zondag met Lubach, na het aankomende seizoen gaat stoppen. En de wereld draait door is al gestopt. Misschien nieuwe programma's introduceren.
