I've seen Donnie & The Cruisers at least a dozen times over the years, and I've never seen him do this live either. I always thought it was one of their best songs, and am surprised it never was a single.
I saw Donnie before a show wants and I got to just walk up and talk to him and he was super super nice and I asked him why he didn't do this song and he said it was a hard song to do live. I've seen him at least 15 times and I always wished he would do this song.
I met Donnie after a show 3 or 4 years ago. I told him this was one of my favorites. He laughed and said " man, we haven't done that one in years." What a truly personable and gracious individual. I have seen him since and he keeps getting better! If you have the opportunity to see him, do it. You won't be disappointed.
Yes he is a great guy-I interviewed Donnie for a magazine I was working for and he was so Down-to-Earth,you wouldn't have guessed he was a star!! Does an outstanding live show, too!!
I saw him at a show once myself and he was all by himself looking around and I asked him why he didn't play it. ..forget what he said. .something about it being hard to pull off live. ..
Watch the movie "Private School" starring Phoebe Cates and in one scene when she is on the phone with her boyfriend, you can see this poster on her wall!!
He always played in the WDVE charity jam in the 80s and 90s they had once a year near Christmas at Nicks Fat City. I never missed any, and in my opinion it was the best rock and roll deal I could get, because they had him, Clark's, BE Taylor, and a whole bunch of other well known ones, for a fairly decent price. Although I don't think he ever did this song there.
Groundbreaking stuff. I was really flashed after finding this record in a bargain bin in good ol' germany some decades ago. Man, would you believe this smart guy can hit it that hard. Simply wonderful!
DarwinNebraska-thank you so very much for this and not only featuring the hits, but the lesser-known Donnie Iris gems as well! You wouldn't believe how happy I was to find this page!!
Sweet guitar licks baby; lick it up. "KISS😍👍🎶🤛😘
I was at the old Stanley theater in Pittsburgh in January of 1983 when the gateway drumline played this song with him
I've had to have this album recorded onto a CD specifically so I could rock out in my car.Had it for 17 years.

Legend!
Remember the band members all with drums coming to the front of the stage playing an extended version of the intro. Definitely, the best of times.
YES! He opened the show at Pitt with the extended version around 1984. I still talk about how awesome it was...
Donnie for President in 2020 ! Ooh yeah
