  • Londonderry on the Twelfth by the Walls and St Columb's Cathedral.
The Bands and Orangemen have left London Street within and have entered without into Hawkin Street by going underneath Newgate on the Walls of Derry. In the background is St Columb's Cathedral Church which is in the Church of Ireland Diocese of Derry and Raphoe. It is the first Reformation era Cathedral in the British Isles.
Here is the Twelfth of July in Derry/Londonderry. The Commemoration of the Victory of King William III, Prince of Orange, and Stadtholder of the Netherlands over King James II at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. These Battles as well as the Siege of Derry were part of the Glorious Revolution which brought Civil and Religious Liberty to all.
In more recent peaceful historic times in 2013 Derry ~ Londonderry was the UK City of Culture with the Maiden City holding the County Londonderry Annual Orange Parade as well during that year the Fleadh Cheoil. It being the first time that the Fleadh with traditional Irish Music was held in Northern Ireland. Ulster has various music traditions as seen here.
Pride of the Orange and Blue Flute Band which is from Newbuildings in the city. Glendermott Valley Flute Band from the city. Burntollet Sons of Ulster Flute Band. East Bank Protestant Boys Flute Band, Irish Street, Londonderry. Kildoag Pipe Band, Co. Londonderry. Tullintrain Pipe Band.
The Annual Orange Celebrations in the Maiden City are organised by the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland.
My video was made on Friday 12th of July in the year of our Lord 2024.
