I am now the proud owner of this beautiful piece of automobile history. She is just as beautiful and runs as smooth as ever. She keeps company with the matching 1979 Collector Series Continental and Mark V. Luxury unlike any other era.
Hi .I have a 79 mark v . Is pretty long I got it 4 year ago .Am trying to buy a 77 continental limousine. Does the limousine fit in your garage? According to Google limousine is only 3 inches bigger than mark V .But doesn't sound right, those limousine looks way bigger on pictures or videos.please and thanks BTW your limousine looks amazing
This was the ultimate for arriving in style 40 years ago. Limousines were not too common then. Everyone’s head turned when these cars appeared on the street. It was always the best way to arrive at the airport, an event, or for a special evening out. Back then, they were fairly affordable and always impressed your date. It was a sure way to avoid a DUI. Once in the mid 80’s I was placed in charge of rounding up 9 limousines for a family wedding. The service I usually used did a wonderful job since cars from different services needed to be used. The scene in front of the church looked like the red carpet at the Oscars or Emmys. Unfortunately, now when you need to rent a “limousine”, you end up with an oversized truck. Nothing elegant about it at all. I miss the days when Ford and Cadillac built beautiful luxury cars. Perhaps someday they will again.
I was a chauffeur back when this car was new. This is creampuff of a car. Most stretches were built on the base model. That this is a Collector's Series meant it was probably built for a private or corporate owner, not a livery fleet. The rear moonroof was a rarity and highly desirable. The Lincolns of the day were not made to exacting standards, though I preferred their integrity and approach to luxury over Cadillac, especially the downsized Cadillacs that appeared in '77. Unfortunately, most of these didn't survive long before getting scrapped. It's amazing to see this particular behemoth in such fantastic condition. Town Cars had amazing road presence even in the age of large sedans - though I felt it looked a bit stubby and only really came into its own as a stretch. They were wonderful to drive, big floaty ride with over-boosted power steering and brakes. Seeing this time capsule today is unbelievable. It's totally correct - the Collector's Series blue and the correct wheels and those sumptuous pillowed seats. What a ride! Thanks for posting.
Yes he did, although I'm not sure if it was a 79 collector series? But his was fire- engine red in the pics I saw of his personal limo. You can bet he had a bar in his , after all he was the incomparable " Jackie Gleason"
This 1978 Lincoln Continental Limo, which once belonged to Jackie Gleason. It was featured on an episode of 'Pawn Stars.' th-cam.com/video/fG3qvYu-JCo/w-d-xo.html
My dreamcar. We have had a private limousine before. Plan on having one again. Wish it could be now when I see this. Recently there was a similar and really nice car for sale in this country at a reasonable price, but it was white. I want it black or blue. Importing this one with all the taxes we have will be VERY expensive - unfortunately. It deserves to be treated with respect in a good home and not a fun factory.
I love this Automobile, I had two 1979 Lincoln Town Cars and a 1988 Lincoln Town Car and I loved the '79 much better. and to have it as a Limousine would be so much better
@M.E.McCarnishJR, we do not have access to the final numbers, if you wish to email the showroom directly, they may be able to assist further. Their email is dallas@gatewayclassiccars.com. Good luck!
The limousine you’re thinking of was the car that was used the day Hinckley tried to assassinate Reagan. The limousine was built on an early 1970’s Town Car frame. After the shooting, the car was sent back to Dearborn to be completely refurbished. Since it was the early 80’s, Ford used sheet metal, the grill, and other details from the last full size Lincoln, the 1979 Town Car. That limousine is now on display at The Henry Ford museum. It is part of a “motorcade” of presidential vehicles that includes the Continental president Kennedy was riding in Dallas.

Why does it have import tires from Korea?
Because that's what the owner chose.

Don’t offend the queers now
I drove stretch limousines for over 30 years …Lincolns were better smoother riding cars than Cadillacs
All that weight and gutless 400 pos engine the 460 was best option i would
Repower with a 460 or 7.3 godzilla gas engine
