Pat is one of the kindest humans ever. At my daughter's first baseball game we saw the Red Sox play the Rays at the Trop in 16. After the game we were about to leave when she noticed him standing there, still in uniform, talking to a few fans. He was so kind and cool; signed a ball for her and talked to her for a few minutes. She still has it and has never forgotten that day!
I love listening to the game on the radio on a nice summer evening. These past few years have been just painful! Face it, we as RS fans were love bombed from 2002-2018. Now, we are being ghosted!
Would love if this podcast had chapters🙏🏼hugeeeee fan of the pod but sometimes I’m so busy and don’t have time to listen to a 3 hour pod and just want to know where the baseball talk is. All love🤟🏼
One thing you may want to include in the conversation is the fact that the team isn't very good and while having a good farm, the lack of any legit pitching prospects coupled with the in-and-out mentality of ownership has agents telling players not to sign if they cared about winning. Their projections likely say they don't see them competing for anything in the near future.
The only boycott I'm doing is buy cheap Red Sox tickets on the secondary market the day of the game and seeing them on the road. I'm not paying those ridiculous ticket prices on the Red Sox website. Another boycott I'm doing is support the outside vendors by buying their food since food inside Fenway Park is very mid. As for merchandise I really don't buy any. By doing this boycott I am not giving any money to ownership.
The movie Jared is referencing is Society in the Snow. It’s an updated version of the 1993 film Alive. Based on the true events of a Rugby team surviving in the Andes mountain after a plane crash.
Jared saying that this is the least exciting team means he has forgotten most teams before 2004. Growing up in the 90s, I never expected the Red Sox to be good... the last 20 years have amazing. There have been some down years but the team overall has been pretty positive. Minus September, 2023 was not a bad year, just mediocre. I can't help that feel that the lack of movement is the Sox thinking they have the talent, they just need the coaching to fix it as well as ownership not fully trusting Breslow and making him work within a strict budget to start his career here to see how he works and adjusts. I don't think I could boycott the Sox fully. I love baseball, and I love the Sox. Its probably copium, but I still have faith that this team can compete this year. They just can't fall off in August and September.
This team is by far less exciting than any 90s team. The 90s may have featured some bad Sox teams but look at the lineups. Mo Vaughn, Nomar, Mike Greenwell. Late 90s we had Pedro. Early 90s we had Boggs. They would even sign a veteran free agent like Dawson and Canseco. There were always exciting players to watch. Now? Nothing exciting to watch.
the red sox are the third most valuable team in baseball and they have like the 20th most expensive payroll. that is not acceptable. we can be thankful for what Henry has done in the past, but if he is done spending money on the baseball team, it's time to thank him for the rings and demand he sell the team. I resent the dishonesty and the gas lighting and phony P.R. that swirls around this dysfunctional organization. cut the BS and give fans the truth, not the endless phony spin. Henry clearly hates us, we hate him, time to change the name of FSG and sell the team to someone who was as hungry as Henry was 22 years ago.
Henry hires people for particular skills. Bloom was hired to trade Betts, begin the farm rebuild, now Breslow is here to build up a top notch pitching program, the next person, implementing all of that, and adding to it, but not depleting the farm and going way over threshold.
Had no idea Slippy was a lady 👀 I'm a 31 year old man and it took Pats Picks for me to finally not misgender a fictional frog. Doing the lords work boys
Spending money doesnt equal wins. Red Sox have some great players, Marcelo Mayer soon this who narrative is ridiculous otherwise how do the Rays go to playoffs 5 straight years
I’ve been to Fenway enough times that I can take a couple years off. If the ownership won’t open their wallets to bring in desperately need help, why should I open my wallet to help fund interests outside of Boston.
Redsox Nation is BOYCOTTING EVERYTHING REDSOX until they spend accordingly on ACEs. Games or concessions at Fenway NO Games or consessions at Fenway South No Games or concessions at Salem Redsox No Games on NESN No Subscription to Boston Globe No MLB Ticket streaming services No Merchandise Definitely Not as at this point it's embarrassing for Redsox Nation to wear them in competitive MLB. When you spend your time & money on a team Redsox Nation Built John Henry we will resume spending our time & money as well. Until then reap what you've sewn. Taking top dollars from us for little in return demonstrates your complete lack of respect for those fans & families who built this Redsox Nation & Team over 124 years and many generations. Good Day Sir
It doesnt matter what the fans do. They are going to make a shit ton of money in the end. When you see the Cardinals vs the giants and its soldout, the red sox make money. We're all fucked as fans. it doesnt matter what you do.
So let me get this straight management want fans to pay some of the highest ticket prices major-league baseball handful of AAA promotions and has been players. Honestly, I don’t even know 3/4 of this roster, not to mention the food at Fenway park is absolutely disgusting I say boycott Fenway force John Henry to sell this team, and go sit in his penguin owners box, you cheap bleep, bleep
There's a reason why the booing at events like the Winter Meetings make a difference. Because you're completely downplaying the impact that fans have on the bottom line. You're completely wrong here. There is no Red Sox Nation without the fans, and that hurts the bottom line, period. I get it. It's your job to cover the Red Sox. So things like boycotts threaten your living, and you're shying away from that. I don't think any reasonable person would expect a commentator to participate in a boycott. But don't BS about it and downplay it's affects. You don't really have credibility here, because it's a conflict of interest.

I could care less about Taylor swift

This will be worst then last year. Great video guys
I got the Red Sox at less than 78 wins this year. This is the first year I have no hope they will make the playoffs. Last place again.
Might have to subtract another 15 from that total.

Preeeeeeetty sure it’s called Snow Island
This is the perfect example of the difference between classes .. Couldn't be more out of touch with the working man ❤❤
Did not think we'd get the Taylor Swift / Travis Kelce breakdown on this episode, but I enjoyed every second of it.
I respect Tyler for taking shit so well

I can absolutely confirm that Ireland is big Pat Light country.

My 3 take aways
1. Screw the boycott GO SOX
2. Slippy toad is a dude not a chick (still useless though)
3. Diddy Kong Racing is better than Mario Kart
Had no idea Slippy was a lady 👀 I'm a 31 year old man and it took Pats Picks for me to finally not misgender a fictional frog. Doing the lords work boys
Make the Minority the Majority.
Tyler flaps his wings like big bird when he speaks
That Kowloon crew is undefeated.
Ken Griffey Jr Presents Major League Baseball being left off Pats Picks is just blasphemous
Spending money doesnt equal wins. Red Sox have some great players, Marcelo Mayer soon this who narrative is ridiculous otherwise how do the Rays go to playoffs 5 straight years
And there's still a ton of ability on the mound left in free agency.
Pat doesn't know Slippy is a guy

I will not go to or watch any redsox games this year ...and no one should...make a stand and show you won't pay for sub par teams...

No one should go to a game this year
All most 3 hrs. Of silence....😮
When do they actually talk about the Red Sox. I've been bored for 20 minutes
Boycott? Nothin but 🐂 💩... Go Sox!

Sell the team 😢
This opening sucking up to Pat Light is insufferable.
