Can confirm that any license owner SHOULD love that 390 engine. I have a Z1000 and sometimes rue the fact I can't use that engine anywhere on the roads (legally and/ or safely). I love it, I do. But my friend has a 390 Duke and it is so much fun to ride. You can literally kick its head in everywhere and it will not care, and just comply. Such an easy going bike
Matt Bennett 100 % agree I have a Z1000 2016 model it's a Fantastic bike ..but for blasting about and not giving a damn my Suzuki DRZ 400 sm is so much fun
I have a Rsv4 ... bought this week the 401 sv. Much more fun, cause legal and safty. Fast enough. Perfekt Daily The Rsv4 is dir the Track . everything about 100ps is too fast in my opionion.
RJ is the most graceful ride I’ve ever seen tbh been watching Moto vloggers for years and idk what it is but RJ is just actually enjoyable to watch ride
Agreed. Its obviously because he's been riding for years but his anticipation of the movement of traffic and his decision making and smoothness is unreal. If anyone else tried to drive like him i think they'd crash. RJ knows when to go and when to wait. I dont have that kind of skill so i honestly dont know how he does it. More practice i suppose!
I had the pleasure as well to test ride the 401´s. Neat little bikes, nothing to really complain about. As an A2 holder I really like seeing this stuff popping up
Appreciate the content as always. Would you recommend this bike for a beginner? Seems like a good alternative to the 390 Duke whose styling is a little too aggressive imo
I used to have a hayabusa and now i have a grom.... eyeballing one of these... the short answer is yes, slowbike fast is more fun than fast bike fast, atleast on roads
Chandler Bing I had a fast bike..... trying to go as fast as it would scared the crap out of me, there was no fun in it..... .....maybe I should have been going fast where there was no traffic, 140mph where traffic was going 75 might have been a contributing factor.
I think this one is fast enough to have fun with, 0-100 km in 4,7 sec and top speed around 180, would not call this a slow bike, more like a standard easy and fun bike
@@gardini100 I was not talking about this bike, I was just asking in general. I myself ride a slow bike, a 350cc Royal Enfield and haven't ridden faster bikes for longer than 5 kms.
Dealer Support is one of the first things I looked at when purchasing a second bike. Now I basically walk in there and im treated like royalty. Its great! Honda, for anyone who's interested.
Well said RJ! You’re the first motorcycle reviewer i’ve heard stress the importance of dealer support. It has been such an important factor for me in deciding what bike to get. I initially really wanted a Yamaha and i have no doubt they make amazing motorcycles but was left far from impressed with how their dealership was run in my country. Whereas i had not even initially considered KTM here but instantly fell in love with them, their service and their motorcycles after a visit. It is such an overlooked factor!
100% agree. I was looking very closely at buying a G310R (BMW) and i had found a super steal on one. Was gonna get it delivered etc.. however, we have no BMW Motorad dealers where i live. My closest one is like 348 miles away. One dealer told me it would cost me $250 each way for pickup/delivery whenever it needed warranty work done. We have repair shops that can work on bmw but not for warranty work b/c i guess you need some kind of unlock tool in order to do it i was told. Then i found out that if you’re buying it new, you have to ride it a few thousand miles in order for all your features to be unlocked… what?! No way. Screw that. But the deciding factor for me to not go w/ bmw was mostly the dealer is too far away for warranty work. Found another dealer that was gonna charge me $150 each way but still… who wants to do that? I don’t.
Very sharp bike, I like the looks better than the larger Vitpilen. When I recently saw these in person (though I didn't sit on them) the plastic of the gauge looked cheap to me.
I'd like to see the 390/401 bikes in a comparison test with the older 400cc bikes like the CB400F. I think at this power level it's more about how the bike feels and makes you feel.
I'd love to see you have another ride on an MV. But I completely understand where you're coming from since a lot of the bikes can sometimes have reliability issues. (maybe the latest line up is better)
So did you go for it? I got mine 2 months ago, my first bike ever and it’s just perfect. I feel like I won’t ever need more power man this thing is just a toy that brings a smile on your face, and what a look
@@IssaG0ld Exactly my thoughts. I got one 3 months ago, did 5000km on it and had a blast. But I found out that it isn´t really suitable for my kind of riding. I like to do longer distance trips and it really isn´t comfortable after an hour or two so I sold it for something for comfortable. Whenever I´m in the position to afford two bikes, the Svart will be my first choice every time!
Cool. This USAmerican just by chance drove through that Plough Roundabout monstrosity in Hemel Hempstead last month. Being a non-native UK driver, it's like the worst thing POSSIBLE to come across. But, I "plough"-ed through like a CHAMP! Fortunately, all I needed to to was take "two lefts", which meant, practically deflecting off the surface of the hexagonal roundabout from hell. (trademarked ME!) :)
I agree with you about trusting a dealership near to you I’d like to buy a KTM but the nearest dealer to me is 70 miles away so it’s not going to happen.
It's a really good bike and I was thrilled of its launch in India but I still cannot change to a Husqvarna because potholes are plenty and a tourer like BMW GS is best.
performance wise looks like it's a Ton of Fun, whereas as looks go, I've yet to see one in person to be convinced. so far a Fantic caballero 500 is the number one for me in terms of styling, scrambler and street Tracker.
I feel you about MV Augusta. Their dealership network is terrible. The closest MV dealer to me is almost 60 miles away, in a "remote" area. It sucks because they have neat bikes (when they work 😉😉).
Great advice! I hear the same type of thing with guitar reviews. Expert says this, expert says that, just go down to your local store and find something that makes you feel good. Too much brand snobbery these days...
I am glad you read my comment on the Duke 390 video RJ and that you agree with my thought process as well. I would love a KTM 390 or Husqvarna vitepilen / svartpilen but the nearest KTM dealer is 2 hours away, and there are two Yamaha dealers within 20 minutes of me. Would I want the Duke 390 or Husqvarna over a Yamaha mt 03 or the new XSR300 coming this year, damn right I would.. but I can't ride 2 hours every time I need a service or something breaks. Great video as always RJ:)

Douglas Wilander what are the rules for a2 in gb? In Sweden its maximum 35kw or 0.2 kw/kg
Douglas Wilander im not English but i think its around 50 hp
McMuffinFluffin 50 hp would make it illegal for A2 license, as its 45 hp requirement.
Tinrodio well I'm Swedish too so I dont know :3 I think its the same but I can't confirm.
35 kw = 48 hp
Oh I love that one cylinder bark! It really suits the Husky 401 as well, lovely noise.
I can't wait for the 701 Svartpilen, that will be a ripper!
Thanks for the memories RJ, I used to live not far from there, loved that road
Really nice til you view directly from the rear. 70s Puch Maxi and rear number plate dragging on the floor springs to mind
very valid comments RJ regarding dealer trust and practicality of getting servicing/warranty done
It is gorgeous ! The 701 should look like this, it has an amazing design.
Hey RJ!!!! From the states here.... love your videos. Beautiful country side. One day I’ll get over there

They have the same engine, just different body work I believe
This pretty much is a Duke with a different style
I hate the dash

It turns invisible when you go over the speed limit
