very good - ive noticed that some people dont seem to like the fact that Alesssandro makes melodic atmospherics with a buchla and a synthi, just because it doesnt align with what you think these instruments should be used for doesnt mean its not good or he is not talented! I actually think the gear on show is doing the performer a disservice because people seem to be focused on all the nobs and buttons rather than just listening to what is being produced (which is beautiful by the way) Fair enough if you dont like it but just because it sounds simplistic doesnt mean that its easy - he is more about tones, drones and progressions than bleeps and squeaks and madness.
does not mind what simple people think, allesandro is a touched by gods with talent, that´s why he is so rich (not maybe with money as much as Sorros or Eleon Musk but his life is a dream for the most of us)
If you can only do what everyone else does with gear then whats even the point of them making more than one of each lmao that perspective makes no sense especially when it comes to modular
The criticism for Alessandro for not being a technical guy who understands every nook and cranny of modular synths might be right to an extend, but often sounds just like a saying of no life purists that doesn't like that he's popular and charismatic. For me though, it all comes down to his simplistic and melodic approach that has proven to interests and influences many newcomers including me to the world of modular. So sad that gatekeeping behaviors will always exists in every kind of music, especially one as niche and complex as modular synthesizers.
@@ezzong Sometimes I think people just mad because he earned the respect, place in band, and even song credits from trent reznor, meanwhile trent reznor has never even heard their shitty solo bedroom noodling.
Beautiful! Some people would say this sounds weird and you must lost your mind if you listen ding-dong for whole 8 minutes but it is just pure sound to me. And I'm sober now... :D
Watching this made me have the idea of running my Keystep and 0-Ctrl through the maths attenuator section of my 0-Coast, using the added violated to tracked the sequence on my keyboard. Tanks!
love this guy - only heard the 2 tracks from this set but he's right up my street, moody and hypnotic Can anybody tell me if these tracks have a name are they available to buy?
The Festa Look him up just as Alessandro Cortini. That's what this piece comes under off Forse 3 (the purple album) which was released this year (2015). He was BlindOldFreak way back, Sonoio is his solo work where he sings too and Modwheelmood was the band he was in with Pelle Hillstrom.
This guy is just ok, ive heard waaay better guys preform on that same system on matrixsynth. I kind of agree with the, "is that all guy". An electron a4 could do that and more. Throw in an octa track and then your cookin. Buchlas are my favorite modulars though, I love them.
It's a nice, beautiful, simple melody that was well played?. Though, Modular stuff is not that great for live performance stuff, it's way better for studio work. Electron gear and a MPC 2500, maybe a spectrallis 2 hooked all together...that's a show. Example: Autechre, enough said. I know this dude plays with nine inch nails...I'm not a big fan of theirs.
WOW! Did you see how skillfully he turned that knob? It's not even the slightest repetitive! 8 minutes of pure skill and brilliance!!! Seriously, though... get off drugs and depression and you'll get it.
this is in an area of interest involving synthesis and modular enthusiasts. there are different ways to compose music and methods of performance. it doesn't have anything to do with drugs. get an education and you'll get it.

Alessandro I admire you so very much.. Your music and especially your passion is very inspiring. Thank-you for such an amazing performance.
haha that poor guys John Cage '4,33' joke was met with more '4,33'
May 12th 2019 - still cringy. Think of it as a time capsule of cringe.
I am glad to read the comments and finding that I am not the only one that cringed
I've lost count the number of times I've watched this. Can't wait for Moogfest 2016
+Philip Pendleton fuuuck yes.
+Philip Pendleton Same! I've watch parts 1 and 2 SO many times.
@@roaringforties and here I am, still watching
Still here in 2024 ;)
@@JureJerebic Yep!
I'll bet the guy who made the John Cage joke is regretting it now.
It /was/ a little self-indulgent.
You can even hear him say 'I feel like an idiot for saying that' 5 seconds after the fact. He should.
***** I feel like I could have easily been "that guy" O_o glad I stayed home that day, capturing that stuff on recordings is the worst
Wait, I don't get it. Who's John Cage, and why did he say that?

I'm ashamed that I only discovered Alessandro Cortini in 2021. I haven't heard one bland tune. They are melodically brilliant

This is "Senza / Aria" from his album "Forse 3"
And to think this song was going to be released as "Sanza" on Forse 3 a year and half later is pretty fucking mind blowing! Great artist, great song!
I believe the green pedal in front of the buchla is a sleeper drone pedal that kicks out 4 oscillators. Could be wrong though.
feelmytool Wrong, it's a Strymon Big Sky Reverb.
RIP Don Buchla
très belle session _ bravo
i feel so peaceful after listening to this...
Alessandro Ripped it up bro c’mon. Love this Guy

Sonoio is the name of his project if I remember correctly
Check out sonoio, Modwheelmood, and BlindOldFreak

sounds like something that could have come out of The Social Network score, with a few touches on Dragon Tattoo, too.
the neverending stream of influences :D
anyone know what pedal he is going into there? just curious
The pedal is a Strymon Big Sky reverb.
So accomplished.
