@Scott T Same, i just gave it a listen for the first time in years. Its much better than I remembered. The first 6 tracks or so flow right into another perfectly and in the singing box is one of my favs from that 01-02 era

there's a certain intensity to this that reminds me of the most powerful anco songs to me - grass, reverend green, cuckoo cuckoo... quite rare that bands i love can still channel the kinds of spirits from their earlier works that make you fall in love with them in the first place
Always makes me happy to see comments about channeling regarding music. Animal Collective does it the most obviously out of every artist I've seen/heard.
@@mikeexits I think the only others that can come close to them for me. And this is a loose comparison based off their ability to channel…it would be for my mind; Amon Tobin, Tipper and Culprate. Three musicians that seem to channel some otherworldly force, and simultaneously inner truth.

Anyone hooked on holophonics know some good examples of auditory illusions used in songs (I bet they will trendily flood our music soon)? I like the idea of expanding my work into more auditory illusions like I have built recently along with the visual illusions in videos like ours. I really like that one that relocates us as an audience like forward and backward of the computer when all we have is panning controls, how are people figuring that out besides copying and pasting, what controls that man, whats that called no way it is in this auditory illusion list on wikipedia?
ok so Wiki just found Shepard tone, psychoacoustics lossy compression/Octave illusion, and McGurk/Holophonics are basically the only ones documented for us to eexperiment with i guesss:
1Deutsch's scale illusion is a good idea to battle left and right handers
2I guess clemson in clover idea is something to mess with
3psychoacoustics lossy compression is that audience being relocated thing like in that youtube vid of Waylon Jennings greatest hits
4McGurk is my experiments in creating visuals by layering sound
5Octave illusion is kinda cool to play two different sounds simultaneously but switch which ear you play each of the different sounds out of, kinda wana delete this last one (man audio illusions are seriously weakly documented in wiki whats with that when we are flooded in visual illusion documentation).
6 Shepard tone !!!!! freaking awesome one it always sounds like it is ascending/desending definately the best so far it is was is in unsolved mysteries and part of why that show scared US so much as little fellas, and why Dolby Digital surround sound ad is so awesome.
it is really annoying that almost alll sounds are percusion unless it is an animal/human noise, so going about your day loooking for thaat awesome new midi keyboard sound is really a garbage stomp man. Any ideas for good tones to turn into a midi keyboard that you hear in the world that aint an animal (all i am hearing is random voice/hollaring tones that we can garnish with percusion sounds)? Wait, maybe that confirmed the name choice of the band the Animal Collective when they were thinking about names. Now after messing with Shepards tone all night I see that is used lots in their music so thats what shepards do they collect animals (maybe Avey Tare is a reference to Holophonics aka A.V. tear where audio and/or visuals are bound to create holograms).
Right now I am thinking that Sheppards Tone is in lots/most sustained notes aka (128 beats/layers per minute or so is a solid tone), but that might have something to do with the audio illusion hitting up on my audio memory like a retina burn from an optical illusion, or maybe I'm putting the blue print of those layers on the sustained sounds.
Any ideas about strategies for setting up 3d sound with two microphones or holophonics using 4 earbuds at once?

Agree. I’ve always loved them but they are putting out a lot of great material right now as individual artists and as a group. They are continuously evolving and making sounds I’ve never heard or imagined before.
