I've Actually seen the Atlas Moth when I was at a Place Called "Picnic Point" and that GLORIOUS Creature was Amazing to Look at! That Experience was Fantastic!
Thank you for both metric and imperial. It was about time. Let's keep it that way, thank you /Edit - Well, almost... what happened with the last ones on the list?
The Pokémon Heracross is based on Japanese rhinoceros beetle. Mega Heracross is based on Hercules beetle. And Pokémon like Pinsir and Vikavolt are based on stag beetles. (Source: Bulbapedia)
6:55 The Japanese wasp always scared me during our BBQs on the Tokyo Bay. I can still hear my Nippon friends laughing as I run away (multiple times!). 😅😅
The Hercules Beetle is one of my personal favourite species of beetles plus I’m surprised that Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle or the Caucasus Beetle isn’t on this list.
Yes, yes. I was thinking the same thing. When I saw one from that game, I chuckled a little for some reason. I was kind of hoping to see a Giant Petaltail Dragonfly since I've heard that they're among the biggest of the dragonflies. I guess they're not big enough to be featured here though.
It's a shame that some really cool insects have such short lifespans in their final stage, some of them are really cool, and some just plain creepy/scary 😂
It is not a wheat-a. Its Weta. Wet-a. How can you get that wrong not only is it spelled exactly like that, but two of the worlds most famous FX companies are names after it. Weta FX and Weta Workshop.
I never wanted to use a flamethrower more in my entire life. I will literally cry if any of these things are bigger than my hand and my house will cease to exist. That is their house now and I am moving
Megalara garuda and Megachile pluto deserve mention here, both are the largest wasp and largest bee species in the world respectively, and both have large beetle like mandibles. Also whatever the currently largest ant species (Dinoponera I think?) should get mentioned as well.
If you think these bugs are big, you should see the bugs back in the prehistoric time. They had giant spiders, centipedes, even giant scorpions that could breath and live underwater. P.S. How can spiders, centipedes, and scorpions not be part of the insect family?
I watched this just to find the tarantula hawk. I came across a few of these while living in New Mexico it was insane I had never seen anything like it. I was terrified to go outside
The Hercules Beetle "fact" of lifting 850x their body weight is an urban legend. Think about it-that would mean that half a dozen of them can lift any human!
In the Patriot with Mel Gibson. When his youngest daughter who wont speak to him at all finally cries out for him not to leave for a battle. Father of a Daughter and a Veteran. This always slays me
well then this fells like a check list to me, I've seen the giant Chinese mantis live and in person a few times and came across the toe biter dried out in a parking lot, I've seen the QAB, atlas moth and giant Asian hornet in a museum collection but the 15 are still out of reach for me, oh and 4 out of the five largest known spiders in the world are available in the pet trade here in Canada, the cheapest one is 15 $ before tax and shipping cost are added.
Yeah, I was just waiting for something like Theraposa Blondi or Pandinus Imperator. Seen the first, have the other. Those sizes can only be described as stupid-size :D Whereas the Blondi I can come with, but Heteropoda Maxima would even get me running at super sonic speeds. I really love animals especially more exotic ones ... but some are definitely even for me in the 'hell no' category :)
Toe Biters, ugh. The first time I really saw one I had the sprinkler going in my garden. Sun had gone down and I went to go bring it in, and I see something moving around in a puddle. Damn thing made me jump. Turns out some species actually fly from body of water to body of water. Add that to the nightmare!
As if my Orthopterophobia wasn't bad enough, Tropidacris Grasshoppers would probably be among my worst nightmares. Not really in the "traumatizing" sort of way. They're just so... unpredictable!
i understand why youre saying this, but if you learn more about spiders you probably wont fear them as much, tarantulas are basically harmless even though theyre big
Holy! All these insects are big! I've interacted with a female praying mantis before. I already knew that a female eats a male. I like all the insects on this list. These are some amazing facts about them. I didn't know some cockroaches could burrow. Also, they've been around for millions of years. A cockroach is an amazing survivor. I've read an article about giant hornets. They have been found in the nick of time. There are some insects on this list I have never heard of.

Hi everyone 👋My name is Mike
@@Joethehorrorfan Good one!
Stick bugs
I so glad you started to include centimeters when discussing size ! Thanks 🙏🏻
Something something Australia
They can't include the Huntsman spider because it's not an insect.
@@IWantToPetYourDog As an Australian myself, I can Confirm.
And I've Actually seen that Spider Years ago at School when I was a Teen!
Thumbs up if you read this in ZeFranks voice 😂 🤌 😂
why do people always say australia when most of the shit in this video isnt even from here
@@EvilNecroid EXACTLY!
The beetles are so majestic! They look like little transformers. 😅
Now I can't get the thought of beetles transforming into cars out of my head.
@@ShosuCeladonWell, Bumblebee transformed into a Volkswagen Beetle in the original cartoon!
This video won't stop bugging me! 😅
💀
I get it!
Dad joke!
Moths are so beautiful. My favorite insect.
Some of these inspired cool Pokemon like Heracross and Pinsir
I've Actually seen the Atlas Moth when I was at a Place Called "Picnic Point" and that GLORIOUS Creature was Amazing to Look at! That Experience was Fantastic!
This is horrifying...why am I watching this?
Because it’s fascinating
@starvoltnexus3139 my name is Mike 😉

I said THAT! 😮😁
Curiosity...personnally...
dang, these insects are so scary....
Thank you for both metric and imperial. It was about time. Let's keep it that way, thank you /Edit - Well, almost... what happened with the last ones on the list?

Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! Scary insects..!! 🥶
This video has made me believe Skull Island is real Lol
Very interesting video. Love all the animals featured in it
6:55 The Japanese wasp always scared me during our BBQs on the Tokyo Bay. I can still hear my Nippon friends laughing as I run away (multiple times!). 😅😅
i lost all focus at 8:35 at the Drake Meme.. tooo epic
The Hercules Beetle is one of my personal favourite species of beetles plus I’m surprised that Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle or the Caucasus Beetle isn’t on this list.
why am I watching this....
But we watched it
We call them june bugs , not sure same thing but we had something like that in Massachusetts.
Awesome video! I absolutely adore bugs. Especially the atlas moth 😍
I already knew quite a few of these because of Animal Crossing.
Yes, yes. I was thinking the same thing. When I saw one from that game, I chuckled a little for some reason. I was kind of hoping to see a Giant Petaltail Dragonfly since I've heard that they're among the biggest of the dragonflies. I guess they're not big enough to be featured here though.
More entomology! Please ✨
Fun fact: The Atlas Moth was discovered when a bird hunter shot it my accident, thinking it was a bird.

Don't look now but there's something crawling on your leg just now lol
The Acteon Beetle and its larva make me think of the Armored Cannon Beetle and Larva from Pikmin.
I never wanted to use a flamethrower more in my entire life. I will literally cry if any of these things are bigger than my hand and my house will cease to exist. That is their house now and I am moving
Lol, relax
What do spiders and baseball players have in common?
Both catch flies
I would only freak out if I found an Asian giant hornet or a tarantula hawk wasp in my house. The other bugs I would even consider pets
Well...Flamehrower, a Fire-type move, is super-effective against Bug-type Pokémon. Just saying...😏😏😏
😂😂😂😆🤣🤣🤣🤣
Don't show Misty this. She'd freak out!
Exactly
But show Kinger this
But show Kinger this
Thanks for existing Canada

People think these bugs are scary. The bugs find us humans to be waaay more scary, which is why they try so hard to avoid us.
If you think these bugs are big, you should see the bugs back in the prehistoric time. They had giant spiders, centipedes, even giant scorpions that could breath and live underwater.
P.S. How can spiders, centipedes, and scorpions not be part of the insect family?
They are relatives. If WatchMojo wanted to be inclusive, they should’ve had this for all arthropods in general
Because, technically, spiders and scorpions are arachnids, not insects.
@elizabethalvarado8698 I'm Mike btw 😊
Insects have six legs and have three body sections: head, thorax, and abdomen. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
@@janel.8921 No, no, you're correct.
Was missing things like Theraposa Blondi, Pandinus Imperator or Heteropoda Maxima. Those would have given some sweet dreams :D
Pokemon's next list of pokemon candidates
I am convinced to never visit tropical rain forests.
I saw an Imperial moth perched on a co-worker's car back around 1994. Nobody could believe it when I told them what it was.
Interesting!
I watched this just to find the tarantula hawk. I came across a few of these while living in New Mexico it was insane I had never seen anything like it. I was terrified to go outside

I've heard of the Saber Tooth Tiger, but not a Saber Tooth Beetle. The Saber Tooth Tiger is long extinct
In the Patriot with Mel Gibson. When his youngest daughter who wont speak to him at all finally cries out for him not to leave for a battle. Father of a Daughter and a Veteran. This always slays me
New fear unlocked
I have no one to blame but myself for being too curious.
Why are people holding & playing with some of them?! AHHHHHHHH!!!
Also, I can totally imagine people having wrestling matches between male Hercules beetles, can’t you?
Imagine a titan beetle flying towards you. I'd leave the planet
It’s bugging me out bugs bunny
Let us remember the giants insects and other arthropods in prehistoric times.
You never know what lurks within the forest. 🎉
I don’t care if it’s interesting that is nightmare fuel.
Wow I never heard a BIGGEST Insects before.
Those are some big-assed bugs.
#19 Mothra

I don't do Grasshoppers/Crickets/Locusts or Katydids, I hate them all and despised them as a child.
No children for me then. I don’t fancy losing the use of my mouth 😅crazy bug world
@8:41 you can see a bug getting high
Dang you’d need a cast iron skillet to take out that cockroach 😅
I’m so happy there are no spiders!
i understand why youre saying this, but if you learn more about spiders you probably wont fear them as much, tarantulas are basically harmless even though theyre big
I would love a walking stick as a pet, but only if it sounded like David Hyde Pierce. ☺️
Just like Insecticons
Giant We-Ta lol
I actually found, saw and took a picture of an imperial moth that was green but it got lost when my original laptop died😭😓
Sad that arthropleura died.
All I can think is how loud the crunch would be if you stepped on some of these 😖
giant hawker (Tetracanthagyna plagiata. This watchmojo has not listed

Imma save you a bit. Avoid central asia, humid parts of africa and the entirety of australia
Most of the footage in the "toe-biter" section isn't of a Giant Water Bug.
Our cats would of had a feast on that giant grasshopper they ate the little ones in the yard and crickets.
At least we aren't in dinosaur times, because with how large they were then, _they_ would be stepping on _us_ .
I love tarantulas and would defend them against their blood-thirsty foes! 🗡️ And then faint.
Am I the only one noticing a severe lack of insects from Australia?
Ngl, my lepidopterophobia went into overdrive when I saw the 4th and 3rd entries lol 😅
*Mothra is not Godzilla's foe...
Ok really afraid what a those Moths.
I actually found, saw and took a picture of an imperial moth that was green but it got lost when my original laptop died
They dont stand a chance against my timbs
This might sound ridiculous but I thought of cicadas while watching this even though they're nowhere close to anything on this list.
i hate bugs....why am i still watching this lol
the titan beetle once killed 3 guys in a bar with a pencil
Dude you ever read Jungle Juice in Webtoons.
We have little stick bugs they move so slow i was lucky to see the one. And im 67.
I saw one once and thought what the hell is that and who sent that here. The first one.
An insect collection?
Bugs life
Yep. I literally watched that yesterday on Disney plus. It's been will over 10 years for me.

So impressive and beautiful. And I would pee myself if I saw some of these live
