Cheers Daniel. Absolutely. All the bells and whistles of lights and mics are great but without a doubt anything the helps to stabilise the shot is super important. Thanks for dropping by
I have a smallrig phone cage for my iphone 12 and I have two side handles, top handle, microphone, and adapter for attaching an external monitor. I just leave the cage on when I'm not using it and it protects my phone well. I may order a Ulanzi just for the hell of it.
Hi Vic, I don't know if you've seen the Moment Mobile Filmmaker cage. If not I'd recommend taking a look because it's a nicely made but of kit, I picked one up in the Black Friday sale just for fun. It's bigger than this snug fitting rig, aside from a phone it allows me to fit my Atomos Ninja V inside and put a phone/camera on the top. No side grips but that's what 3D printers are for!
This was a great review. I used this review to look closely and it appeared that a iPhone 12 Pro Max would fit (case on) in the rig. Concern one squashed…the phone fits with the case on. My bigger concern was whether or not there was sufficient clearance to mount my lenses. I have the Sandmarc pro case and…YES…there is ample clearance to mount all my lenses…YAY!!! This would have been a deal breaker for me. Bottom line I didn’t want to have to buy one of those huge rigs. I liked the compact nature of this rig. **Note: The slim case that comes with each Sandmarc lens purchase WILL NOT offer the needed clearance to mount lenses.
Hi Vic I like this cage as well but i could not get my 13 Pro Max into it with a moment case on it . I did love that I could get the Pixel 6 Pro in it without a case. The other Issue for me was not being able to push my phones control buttons. Great Video
Just short of one more attachment option for me. I have a Google Pixel 6 - Rode Filmakers reciever - Rode AI-Micro. I can't see where I'd put the Rode AI-MICRO (perhaps velcro on to the rear plate).
What an Awesome Review. It helped me make my decision over the Small Rig for the iPhone 13 Pro. It’s quick and versatile with two handles that swivel etc. I can keep my iPhone inside my mag safe case and use the accessories including the snap on external battery pack 🙌🏼 . Plus I got a $10 off coupon on Amazon. Apologies, Wished I would have watched you review before I made my purchase so I could have accessed your affiliate link etc. Next time , Big Thanks ✌🏼
Hey Alex, shoot everything in ultra wide 😃 that aside nothing springs to mind to be honest unless you had the ability to out together some weird hybrid hand held mirror system
I order it, as well as Rode video micro ii to go with it, and I put the blame solely on you, stop making me spend money, lol.... Yes, the way you showed how it handles sure gave me some ideas how to film with my phone again, cheers Vic Bazza
@@VicBarry Vic? How are you and family ? Actually very well. I had to figure a way to support long old lenses.. As the D5100 on Tripod with a 1kg lens attached.... Well you can imagine... I might get to send a pic one day.. Or When I actually post a vid I can show it. I do hope all Ok for you and fanily.. It's great to have a home grow video channel on my list..
Great review! I just ordered one from your link. It's a good cheap way to get additional footage for a second angle, etc. And a whole lot easier to lug around than my Sony VG20 camcorder. Exactly what I needed while I get the money together for the zv-e10. Thanks!
@@VicBarry Hi Vic, I just recieved the cage and you are right about everything...except one thing. Did you try to plug the mic in? None of my smart phone mic cords will go through the cage and into the phone. I went back and re-watched your video and I can see you that you had not plugged it in (not intentionally, I'm sure!) so you must have missed this small detail. It really puts a damper on it as audio is the most important upgrade for a smart phone. Could I drill the cage out to get the cord through? Yes, easily. But that kinda misses the point of the cage as it should be plug and play. It's really frustrating. Should I send it back? Can I send it back? Btw, my Pixel XL does fit in it but without the case.
I have two smartphone rigs and I love them
Great review! First time I’ve heard any review mention about stability which I think is the main point of getting a rig in the first place !

Can I plug the Dji wireless mic receiver into the cage set up?

Hi Vic.. thanks for that thing.. I’ve searched for my 13PM.. i think it’s gonna fit 6.7” screen..
No probs Pak :) How do you find the 13PM for video?

Hi, can you still access the charging port of the phone once it's inside the cage?
Great review man. Thank you.

No problem Cedric. Thank you for the kind words :) Really appreciated
Hi Vic. Is there any way to solve the issue of not being able to monitor yourself while using the front cam?

hahahaha! Thanks mate :) Let me know how it works out :)
I will have to make that with wood and rods... like I did for DSLR ! :)
How’d that work out?

QUCK FACT! LOL. I had to stop the video just to read what you said. Too funny. Love the content Vic.
I appreciate that Mike!!! Good to know somebody paused!
I like it... $60 not bad price...
Hey Sarge, yeah. Feels a lot more expensive than 60 bucks to be fair
