If we are able to install and configure generator, solar and UPS backup in our company, I don't see why an international airport if failing. In our system, the Generator takes 29 seconds to come on line. In those 29 seconds the UPS is in use. That means only the technician will notice the power outrage.

I liked the professionalization of cabinet, because most politicians wouldn't make it in private sector without any collusion with govt, unless they somehow managed to pull of politics within a private company (which would be a bad sign for the prospects of that company). The current govt itself has communicated implicitly on the effectiveness of non-politicians: the housing agenda overly-relied on the PS Charles Hinga, who was a carryover from the previous govt. When the president traveled to the US, he hid then Trade CS Moses Kuria like _bangi_ and traveled with former CS Adan Mohamed. Just a couple examples my tired mind can pull off at the moment, but I know there are many such examples.

Along the Kenya highways; Nairobi to the Mombasa coast, to western Kenya to Homa Bay wherever telephone communication had reached, standby generators were installed with Japanese financing. The Telecommunication Assistant Engineer then resigned before the power plants were commissioned and i was employed to take over from him from Kenya Power and Lighting where I had been a Plant maintenance technician to take over from the previous Engineer. I was only under 30 years old and was able to supervise and synchronize over 25 generators for Kenya posts and Telecommunication and were no cases of failures. What is this issue of you establishing a whole ministry of Engineers to manage standby Generators which are within less than 5 miles distance, spending so much public money funds? I do not fail to know there are very advance electronic sensing systems today as compared to my time 48 years ago, Hon. Murkoman that can manage those generators Mombasa.

Ensure, service, fuel is full and that is it. The rest is stories. Let his share panel logs. You don't need DCI. Finally, Load shedding is design failure.

Many people may not know it, but one reason why Kibaki did so well with the economy is the cabinet he had. He had Kivutha Kibwana, Anyang Nyongo, Mukhisa Kituyi, Raila Odinga, Amos Kimunya, John Michuki and many other Matiang'is in his cabinet. But the current cabinet is irreparably weak. You can't run an engineering docket with the highest bar qualification. They will never sync.

Just used the domestic flight terminal and it was chaotic. Screens showing wrong boarding gate, wrong printed boarding gate, delay of flight with no announcement, inconsistent and wrong announcement of changed gates and no one in charge to curb confusion. They can't even run the domestic terminal with just about 5 destinations. All I hear is excuses and scapegoating. You can feel the decline and lack of leadership. The country is going to the dogs.

How does a competent person look like? What qualifications one should have to be competent? Which tribe should you be born to be competent? Or what political party should you align to so as to be competent? I don't understand Kenyans.

Cherargei was very right... Kipchumba is complicating a small problem.. You don't need Kengen or kplc to sort out this problem.

The airport is not the only place that needs electricity - what about the hospitals' ICU and HDU? Businesses anchored on refrigeration services, domestic perishable items in fridges...lets stop pleasing a few visitors at the expense of the majority of Kenyans.

we have a failed engineering department at the airport,i think being the son of the soil we don't need audits,task-force on a routine maintenance issue.kindly have a good predictive maintenance instead of reactive maintenance.
