Hey there, I love the vlogs as they provide an insight into policing in New Zealand. I might not live there but these vlogs just keep pulling me in. Keep up the good work and I can't wait for future vlogs.
Hi Danielle, So Community Patrols are a cool option, they run in lots of areas and are a great way to get involved. In terms of your other questions, Recruitment would be the people to talk to they know the process the best. - Constable Hurn.
Question, besides your issued vest and attached items. Do you personally have to wash and maintain your shirt, pants, socks and boots/ shoes aswell as pack them with you at home? And what other items are you allowed to purchase and utilise when on duty e.g flashlights, watches, gloves and eye protection etc?
I store my stuff at the base but yep, we wash it and maintain it, if things need adjusting or fixing there is a place we take them. My boots aren't standard issue I bought them, additionally the flashlight some gloves and the G-shock are mine. Police do provide boots torches and some gloves but I've got my preferences. - Constable Hurn.
@@newzealandpolice thanks Constable Hurn, another question sorry but where or which websites, stores and brands do you then look at for buying your preferred gear?

It’s great to see you again Constable Hurn! Also it’s kinda fun seeing you in an FTO position! Keep those boys in shape and give them a few good lessons, all in good humor and management of course 😜. Haha have a good day 👍🏻
I take me hat off to you; the way you consistently remain calm and respectful when dealing with abusive people. I start having palpitations just watching/ hearing you have to deal with it. Well done.
Feel like I've been waiting for this forever!! Love seeing what you guys do even if you can't show everything, helps people like me who are wanting to be a police officer in the next few years.
The three main sirens used are: Wail - That's the long sounding one you always hear, designed to throw the sound in front of you and at a distance Yelp - That siren is the shorter sounding one you here used mostly at intersections, it's purpose is to throw sound in a wider direction to hopefully catch attention from all directions And the final one is what you heard in this vlog... Hi-Low - This siren is meant for when 2 Emergency vehicles are traveling together so hopefully people hear two different sirens and know it isn't just one vehicle to look out for... Something that is probably one of the more risky things when travelling under lights with another emergency vehicle. Hope that kinda explains it! Hi-Low is my favourite as well.... Kinda like a 'get the fuck outta my way siren' 😂
America and all other parts of the world can learn a lot from our cops. NZ Police are the best example of what police should be. They're very down to earth and have very good communication skills that can solve many issues without even escalating. They prevent a lot of incidents just by the way they handle it.
