Ive got a stannah 400 lift ive iv noticed you got a gretaer gap to take the panels out the gap in mine in about 5 mm

Can anyone help me. I've got a Stannah 600 (siena) stairlift. It will go all the way up and down the straight stairs with no load but under load it does one step at at time beeping constantly. The error code says code 1 which means the batteries are knackered.
Stannah UK want (are you ready for a shock....) ..... TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY POUNDS just to come and look at it. I told the guy on the phone that I wasn't in a position to just throw 260 quid away on a whim and he basically told me tough shit pay it or don't go upstairs any more.!!!
I would also like to know where I get the batteries from as a search online didn't really come up with any exact matches, and I don't know what ampage I need etc etc etc, and i cant check as i don't know how to get it apart.

I have a chair lift with two 6v Ah batteries,Could i use one 12v,ah to do the same job,

can anyone tell me or put a picture up what wires go to which spades on the main power switch ,ive got 1xorange 1xgrey 1xviolet 2xblack the switch is located on the rear of the motor housing

I have a Shannan stair lift 420 my arm cable to the foot plate has gone slack so arm or foot plate working could any one help with out paying hundreds
