It is a kick-ass culture, along with Doo-wop and Blues, Embcii Bee. Those types of hairstyles with wavy hair can easily be created, if people know how to style them.
I have a decade dance tonight, (you basically pick a decade, and dress up like it xD), and I chose to do 50's, so this video was really helpful!! Subscribed! Thanks!! (:
That doesnt stop you, tho. I'm girl and I will probably have this hairstyle. It's all about what you think would look good on you so don't let anything other stop you.
THANK YOU SO MUCH ROBIN for this tutorial! It's the most accurate one I've seen about this hairstyle. I've tried this haircut for a while and this one helped me much more than any other. Thanks :)
This style looks best with the "trunk" curling, and it helps style when your hair curls or curves. You could curl it with a curling rod or use curling shampoo. It just makes it look more dynamic. If you don't want to carry a comb with you everywhere you go. You could lock it with some hairspray.
i think its gonna work for me. my hair is think and i can style it. thanks to you robin thank you for showing me pomade because thats a god send. thank you robin
What he's doing to the back is called a duck tail. Or, in the UK I'm pretty sure it's a "DA" (duck's arse). You did pretty well Robin! I have a mate who rocks the style. His hair's damn long so it looks great. Glad you took the time for this. Looks great.
wow this was helpful thx i normally have a pomp but im going to try this with a baseball cap laying on the back on my head. im a greaser and u should really check out outlaw greasers tutorial
you're a magician! thank you so much - this is actually the only helpful video/tutorial on how to make this hairstyle. my girlfriend will love you for this! thanks again robin.
Thank you so much man! :D back, sides and front are in my hands allready, only the top isn't really working well, but I guess practice will help me with that :D
Excuse me sir, I have a question. What type of haircut is needed for this? Do my sides have to be cut with a scissor or razor? And what if the top is a bit short?
Awesome. I have to be proper 50s and 60s style for a production of Grease and Little Shop of Horrors so this will really help... just need to grow it out. What sort of length is your hair at back and sides roughly. I've got around 5 months to grow it but I will obviously need to trim it beforehand
I do the same hairstyle, except I dont do the same steps/tactic you use. You see, I use the Aussie Men Texturizing Wax and just swoop it over, creating that curve. And by the way, NICE VIDEO!!
I keep asking about this, but, how about silver fox by vilain? Do you think it's a product with good ingredients even if you've not tried it personally yet?
Nicely done. Just wondering, did you applies pomade for the curl as well? Haven't tried this but usually when I applied pomade after hair drying, its more slicked back and less curl to the side. Thanks!
Mr. James, I really appreciate your videos. I'm considering a pompadour fade. I cut my own hair and have the top very long, though I made the mistake of shaving the sides pretty close. I'm wondering if you could give some advice on combining the pompadour with a fade.
I have about as long of hair as you do, but mine is really thin. Would it still work on me, because I don't know how thick your hair is or how thick it has to be for it to be styled like that. Thanks, awesome video!
I'm gonna have a bash at this, my hair tends to have a natural curl at the front and my grandad actually has this same hairstyle back in the 50s so I figured maybe I'll finally have a hairstyle that works for me
+Robin James hey Robin, I tried it and it went PERFECTLY, I followed your video and I've been styling it this way for the past few days, your video was extremely helpful
I love it! Think it might be a little out of my skill range though :/ Oh also I know tis is a bit of an usual request but I was just wondering why you moved from Scotland down to London and any tips on moving down there as I'm thinking on doing it myself :) Not from Scotland though I think that'd be a little weird haha :P
I have my hair like exactly like this by default for some reason. I call it tsunami hair because of the little wave looking thing, this is my every day hairstyle.
Robin James I really dig this hairstyle, I'm considering trying this one out, I'm getting tired of styling the same pompadour I've been for 6 years, but I want to keep the 50s retro look, is there a way to do this style without a hair dryer?
Yeah, I am putting a like to your video, Robin James. I am also glad that I subscribed to your channel. Please do everybody the favor by posting up more TH-cam videos about how to achieve classic hairstyles please. Thanks a bunch! You have yourself a fine day, morning or night in wherever the hell you are.
Love the video! It's a godsend for a theatre person working on a historical piece! But I have to ask, where are you from in the UK? I'm trying (and failing) to place your regional accent.
Wow! What a genius Robin. Just like usual, u manage to emulate another "tricky" hairstyle. Honestly, me myself can't perfect this hairstyle, especially as u said in the video, the front part is quiet tricky to pull it off. As a greaser, I'm very appreciate ur effort to make the "Alex's trunk" version could be achived by anyone now. P/s: Actually for the back part of ur hair should form a "duck tail/ass" since that u got a suitable length. It'll look more sharp and neat, rather than let it flatten out. Hv a nive day mate!

Great video mate; I was just wondering if this kind of haircut could work for anyone or do you have to have a particular face shape or hair type?
Is my hair just too heavy? Or maybe too long? It comes just past the tip of my nose but whenever I try this style, it just falls
