Great Video, Ray. Thank you for the work put into create it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Happy New Year Ray. Great to see you out in nature shooting. 👍🏻
I hope this year is a good one for you. 🎉
Thanks Joseph. All the best to you and yours living in the future! 😀
I chose the L-10 for the Arca-Compatible Quick-Release Base. Sirui makes very nice products. Thank you very much for your videos. Wishing you a very happy New year 👍 👋
Cheers, Tony! Good choice. All the best for 2023!🎉
I'm using a Leofoto VH-30R head since a couple of years now. I did look at the Sirui but it is only suited for long lenses due to the orientation of clamp. The VH-30R does not have that limitation. I'm very happy with the Leofoto and wouldn't want to use a ballhead anymore. The Leofoto allows for separate horizontal and vertical adjustments which is imperative for landscape photography. I use it on a Leofoto tripod with a built in leveling base. This setup is superb for panorama's too.
Hi Pascal. Yes, the Leofoto VH-30R is a beauty, but costs well over $300 in Canada. I couldn't rationalize that and keep my big Jobu gimbal.
Maybe, at some point, I'll consolidate everything (i.e. sell some stuff) and get something like that.
happy new year to you. Enjoy your vids.
Happy new year! Glad you like them, Anne.
I have the same head and agree with everything you said. Sirui makes great products for the money.
Definitely happy with the cost/value.
Happy New Year Ray, stay dry and thanks for sharing. - Jeff
Happy New Year, Jeff!
Happy New Year! Ray. Survived the Christmas period quite nicely. Getting ready to build a new desktop and do some serious learning about making videos. By the time my nearby Conservatory becomes friendly again here in Mississauga, I should have all in readiness. I’m looking forward to a fine year for myself and family and wish nothing less for you and yours.
Thanks and same top you and yours, Edward!
Thanks. Very informative. Stefano
Glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting. Great shot of the American Dipper. The bears must have been camera shy. 👋
Thanks Alex. Sleepy bears, I think ... though there have been a couple of insomniacs sighted.😀
I have just bought this head. It really is a quality piece of kit. As the man said, silky smooth. I much prefer it to my ball head.
Just for interest, I have 2 Sirui monopods, two heads, and a ST-124 tripod, which I just love. Excellent products, and the prices really are keen.
Yes, as I mentioned in the video, their lenses seem to be excellent. I'm also looking for another (lightweight) video tripod (for location shoots like this), so might give Sirui a try.
@@RaymondParkerPhoto I know everyone recommends their own choice of tripod. I will explain why, for me, I chose the Sirui ST-124. It is very light, but amazingly rigid. I am getting on in years, so weight is a problem. This tripod is no problem to carry around. It also folds up really small. The centre column is triangular, and compact. It also is very tall even without the centre column extended. No crouching to see through the viewfinder. Price wise it it was very reasonable. I think I paid about £200 for it. It is seriously a great buy.
And with the L 20 head makes it a perfect piece of kit. A joy to use.
I gave up on my Sirui Monopod head after getting my fingers pinched a few times while using longer glass. Moved to the Wimberley MonoGimbal and have not looked back.
Agree, the Whimberly MH-100 is a far better experience for long lenses.
Yup. I don't anticipate using anything much bigger and heavier than the 400 with teleconverters. But I have my beastly Jobu for heavy loads.
Очень интересная головка. Спасибо за обзор.
Это здорово. Пожалуйста
Could this, with L bracket and nodal slide, function for stitched panoramic work?!
Thanks
And thank you Tony! Much appreciated.
Been looking for a new monopod as of late. I don't think Gitzo makes that GM3860C anymore. At least not under that model number. Definately will go Gitzo though. My Mountaineer tripod has lasted for years and taken some abuse
Hi Daren. Yes, the model I have is discontinued. I think the equivalent today is the Traveler, series 2, 6 sect (GM2562T)
Looks like a nice monopod head, does the clamp rotate to accommodate a L bracket ? I would be switching between camera and lens. Thanks
If I understand you correctly, no, the pivot is unidirectional. However, I often use it with an L-bracket.
Enjoyed your video. I just bought the Sirui monopod and want to buy the L 20 S to use with my 200-600 Lens. I noticed that you are using a longer clamp on the foot of your lens and I was wondering, what clamp is this?
Hi annscott! It's covered in this video, under "Some accessories:" th-cam.com/video/VFA_coMzOTY/w-d-xo.html I use the L-20S often, for photos and video.
Thank you. I should have written "plate" not "clamp". I will look at the video.@@RaymondParkerPhoto
A good monopod is so crucial for outdoor photography if you have a heavy rig. I'm partial to the Manfrotto grip action ball head which I've used for decades. I didn't know that you could do a vertical pan with your type. I wonder if the Sirui works on Canon lenses or only Nikon. 🤔🤣🤣🤣
Happy New year, Christian. I think you have to get a special adapter for those weird Canon lenses (just kidding, folks)😀
@@RaymondParkerPhoto 😂😂😂😂😂
I've seen reviews from other brands that have the panning as well and with some of them, the panning lock "slips" meaning even though it's locked it can still pan with some pressure. Can you confirm if your panning lock does the same? Thanks!
When the pan knob is locked down, panning is immobilized. As I say in the video, all the controls are nicely made.
I only like mono0pods if they have two more legs ... 🦘
A monopod stand would give you 4 legs 😀
