- The "Cut & Restored Maps" project for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets PC game allows you to play two deleted maps with a new coat of paint: Adv4GreenhouseOld and Adv10Hermione.
This video showcases the revisited Adv10Hermione.
The goal of this restoration project is to provide a better gameplay experience while taking into consideration the small amount of information left by the original developers. As such, this shouldn't be interpreted as an accurate representation of the original devs' vision, but as an imagining of what might have been like according to the modders' personal judgement.

This explains why there was a line in Harry's voice "I better not let madam Pomfrey see me" before the cutscene when Harry and Ron entered the Infirmary in the released version, because there supposed to be a level before the cutscene. :O
Yeah. I thought the same. This also explains why there's a full 3D model of her with bump lines and even her own study despite not playing any role in the final product.
It’s a well designed level with intricate puzzle-solving details. However, the sequence doesn’t fit the game storyline logically as harry has to tackle a series of magical challenges just to sneak through madam pomfrey, while Hermione is lying on a bed in the infirmary a stone’s throw from Harry and Ron.
It's amazing how much got cut from this game. It's even more amazing that enough people remembered it fondly enough to not only restore that content, but get the game running on modern hardware. I love the internet.
I believe somewhere there is a universe where Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets game was released with this level finished in base game. It looks good and polished. Great mod!
The red and blue dragons' puzzle is so cool! Love how the switch on the floor unblocks the path!
Once again, kudos to Warrington for coming up with the idea :) it was supposed to be more difficult, but the softlocks forced me to simplify it.

Having seen what this level looks like without any restoration, I must say that your modding skills and creativity are exquisite! I'm sure the devs would be most impressed as well.

I have to agree that the section should be cut. It is a lot of busywork just to see Hermione's message. When in the movie Harry and Ron were free to visit.
I love the level design tho.
This looks fantastic - really beefs the story up. This and the Greenhouse level definitely should have been part of the game.

0:30 that'd be cool if you show him entering the locked door opposite to the girl's bathroom. every locked door at Hogwarts ended up opening except this one. and many believe that this was the way to the cut level with Hermione
Everyone has their own theory on this and, as I've replied to another comment, there's no evidence on where the entrance was supposed to be.

@@MrWonderland48 I've never denied the possibility. I'm just saying there's no mention anywhere. The map was scrapped mid-way through development. According to Gregory McMartin, lead designer, the map was originally a Chamber level that EA didn't like.
@@divingdeep39 For me the door on the second floor are very likely entry for 2 reasons:
1. The placement seems right
2. This scrapped one and another one are the only 2 cut levels we know about that went further in develkopement than any other cut maps, which means entry points for them should have been considered and placed in hub area.
@@Ajzan1 Back in 2018, lead designer Gregory McMartin confirmed the door on the second floor was supposed to lead to the boys bathroom (which was never made for obvious reasons). Whether his memory serves him right or not, there's no substantial evidence to suggest that door was once the entrance to the cut Adv10 quest. And in any case, the "door" you see in the base game is just a wall with the door texture (it cannot move even if you wanted to).
Dude what you are doing is great and just art. Keep doing. Looking forward to many new changes to this great game. This game is so magical and it is great to see if someone adds more magical things. Would love to see the tower where harry handed over hagrids dragon to the weaslys, especially the forbidden library.
God I miss playing the Harry Potter games. I know there were people who hated it but I really loved that 1-3 were so different depending on what system you bought them on, I could get them for all the different consoles + PC and have a similar yet different experience with each one. Really need to get a USB disk reader for my laptop so I can get the PC games again, and to get my old systems and games out of storage cause god I really wanna play them all again.

I'd personally want both to be in the main mod instead of separately. I prefer both to the original versions. The Hermione cut content at its place in the story and the alternate version of the greenhouse instead of the one we got.
cuz in the final game harry says: i hope i dont let madaem pomfry sees me. cuz it felt like something wasnt finished, there was gonna be some stealth section that was cut

Beside the fact of completing first three games more than once a year in the past 20 years and making memories I always opened map in different custom map makers from different developers wishing I could make it even more cool, but I always ended up screwing it 😁

There are a lot of mods that make grounds snowy, but have you ever thought about make it and add it in extended mod, for example, before Goyle adventure and Slytherin room as it was winter if to believe a storyteller's voice?
No reason to feel like a fool :) anyway, we have considered this idea but I don't know if and when will be implemented. I'll share the news when the time comes.

it's very good, but it would be better in the extended version. the only question is where it is placed; many say that it belongs where the library is in the extended.
There is no information on where the entrance was supposed to be, nor in the map nor among the leaked documents in the prototype build. The unused second floor door is surely a good guess, though the bars blocking the door read the tag name "boys bathroom". Might have been just a joke. Anyway, that's one of the reasons why we decided to keep this map out of the Extended mod. After all, this map could be appreciated even by those who don't like the mod.
@@divingdeep39 Well, if it's on the opposite side of "girls bathroom" it makes sense.
Although nothing in Hogwarts makes sense, it seems it's the only bathroom in the castle

@@MsSirAndy Eventually, yes, once I know the mod is 100% complete (I don't have a date for it yet). I'd rather support it myself rather than letting other people attempting on their own. It will be a separate add-on to apply after pasting the General files, since I personally don't consider this additional level quality-worthy.

Thanks! We have considered implementing this map into the Extended mod but we ultimately decided it was better as part of a standalone project for several reasons. Among which, the Extended mod is a multilanguage project and the new lines only exist in English: having a mix of English and localized lines isn't something I'm personally a fan of.

This reminds me of Amnesia: The Dark Descent for some reason. And it's really cool. Awesome level. A shame it was cut.
How to download? I always have an issue when I start the launcher (because of M212 Editor).
Link in the description. The folder contains a txt file with instructions.
@@sleepwalkers_guide make sure you installed the M212 engine in the same folder as the game. If that's the case, then join the HP Modding Discord server so that the engine's author can help you.
@DivingDeep39 , yes, I did the same exact action. After this the game launcher crashes, but before that (without the M212 Editor) this launcher works fine.
@@sleepwalkers_guide might be an installation problem or even a hardware incompatibility. Windows 7 and 8/8.1 are not supported out of the box and I know there's some problem with some AMD FX CPUs. Again, there's not a lot I can do here. Join the Discord server to receive support, as that is the appropriate channel.

Very nice indeed, looks way too much just to get to Hermione. More like a boss map.
According to game designer Gregory McMartin, parts of this map (the maze in particular) might have been designed for a third Chamber of Secrets level but ended up being scrapped very early on. Hard to say whether that's actually the case or not, as nothing of this level remotely reminds me of the CoS.
@@divingdeep39 It may have some resemblance with 1-2 other levels at the end but yeah dont remember me neither.

Having worked on this restoration, I totally agree with you. The only appeal of the level is the fact it's new, otherwise it adds absolutely nothing to the game and plot

Do you have a AMD FX series CPU or something similar? If so, there are problems with that type of CPUs. You'll have to wait for the next engine update for a fix. Should come out in a few days. Hold on :)

Hello, I have the same problem but my CPU is an Intel i7. I use the latest version of this mode (May 26th 2023). There are also bugs with the dialogs in the french version.
