The direct recording is very clear and free of ambient background noise. What this means is you will produce hours and hours of show reels. This should get you more indoor gigs. I am interested in your ability to embrace technology so quickly and, more important, use it so effectively. Top radness, Dude.
Thank you Patch, I appreciate it! I’m really intrigued where the better audio might take me 🙌🏻 feels very exciting and I’m just so stoked that it’s upgraded the audio on the videos! 😃 as for embracing tech, I’m a use it until I’ve figured it out kinda dude 🤣 sometimes it takes a minute, sometimes it just works… this Mackie felt kinda overwhelming with all its features but actually once I got going, there wasn’t too much to figure out… although I’m sure there’s more I can do with it that I’ll grasp along the way!
I've literally 10 minutes ago gone and bought what Thought what I a good choice, I've had a day battling between acoustic amps and battery powered PAs. after buying it, your channel suddenly pops up TH-cam, I've binged watched all your amp reviews, without a doubt this gift, transcends you above any performance version of you former busking self. That Mackie is a performing musicians dream, a PA with the clarity of well polished acoustic amp, the tekkie stuff, is what ,as you said, is setting the standard. This is not only set for PAs tho, acoustic amp makers are now guna have to step up to the plate. The Mackie ShowBox Kicks ass!! Its beyond my price point, but really appreciate your comments regarding those of us are not blessed enough to be gifted one for free. I cant wait to see you thoroughly explore the full potential of the "Rig", and witness your creativity and craft grow far beyond what you may have imagined, when you first started your channel. Really enjoy your presentation too, fresh, grounded, laced with real enthusiasm for life. keep up the great work. Here is one more sub on your way to 2.5k. Salute!
This is such a rad comment - I’m so stoked you’ve found the videos! I’m really happy with the Mackie, just need to sort the battery out 😎 but it really is a game changer and level up for this journey. I’m glad my message came across, I started off with a entry level busking amp it got me through 2 years of full-time busking and I’d say to anyone start with what you can because that way you’ll grow into more 😊 thank you again for the kind words!
I am super intrigued and want to get more info. Battery life is important of course. Also issues of area coverage but I'm guessing that isn't a problem. Further updates would be much appreciated. @@AugustRadioProject
hi just found you today first of im an Irish man living mot part of my 69 years in Germany like yourself on the road mostly in Irish pubs etc,hey you are so cool love your wibe, and wau the amp is realy top thanks see you all the best john
Thanks for sharing! Have spent the last few years busking around Europe and now that I'm thinking about recording audio and video it's nice to see that there are options becoming available that will open some doors for us as musicians and creators. Love the unfiltered insight of the chaotic interactions that come out of street performances at the end as well. Keep making your stuff man!
That’s so cool! 😃 I do love how Mackie have recognised the need for efficient and good quality audio for us musicians! It’s rad! Thank you for your kind words, maybe see you out in the wild one day! 🙌🏻
Nice video man, the genuine enthusiasm shines through, I am very tempted on purchasing one. One question, do you think this would be good enough for solo gigs in streetfairs, pubs etc?
100% - it rivals any PA of a similar size 😃 I’ve used it to play a few pub/similar sized events and it’s held up no problem! I even played a show last week where I used the in house PA and realised how much better the Mackie would’ve sounded 🤣 thank you for the kind words btw and I highly recommend the SB 🙌🏻
I really enjoyed your video review of the ShowBox (and your performing). I'm in the states and have been looking for a shop where I can test drive one of these myself and no one seems to have one in stock. Your review was so positive I may just take the expensive gamble and order one. All the best!
Thankyou for showing this , I have an Amp makes my vocal sound tinny has mixers on it still not happy . Got me sold on this looks like to be the buskers dream 🙌
Sounds great and I like the mixer section; really cool! I busk 3-4 days/week and have been lusting for the AER Compact Mobile but that Mackie has great sound/features and it's less than half the price.. Hmmm....
It's a rad piece of gear... I can't talk for the AER as I've never used one but I can only say good things about the Mackie - it's freakin' incredible!! 😀 🙌
Mate, firstly, can I say I’ve been busking full time since June thanks to you so thank you brother 🙌🏻also you’ve changed my mind on my upgrade. Was gonna get the Bose S1 pro plus but you’ve sold me on this one haha
At $800 this still seems like it would be more than worth it. Loved this vid. Can't wait to see the vid you make with it when you really get to know it! Thanks! Probably be saving up for this one!
100%! You’ll never need another rig, that’s for sure! Still getting to grips with it but I’d say I’ve got all the basics down now! I’ll give it a few months before a in-depth analysis 😃🙌🏻
That amp looks amazing! I've been using an acoustic amp/golf trolley battery/inverter setup for years that sounds great, but wanted to decrease setup time and condense the amount of stuff I carry around. I recently got the new Yamaha Stagepas 100BTR, it's small and only weighs 5kg. It's super well built, typical Yamaha speaker quality and sound. I think it sounds better than the Bose S1 Pro for less money and also seems more durable. The only downside is that the mixer on Yamaha is very basic. Not a problem for me because I use a vocal preamp anyway. I saw this video and my heart sank - should I return the Yamaha? Well, no. I was after something really small and light that still sounds great, something I can carry easily on the bus, etc. The Yamaha is perfect for me. I hope you're enjoying Wales!
It sounds like you’ve found the right amp for you 😃 I do think that there’s something in having a lighter, more condensed set up! 5kg is almost half the Mackie 🤣 my Samson is 8kg and I can’t feel a noticeable difference between it and the Mackie 🙌🏻 thank you for the comment, appreciate the support! ✌🏻
Through City Department Ordinance for street vendor rights to public performance ; there is potential to get on a busking outside of independence and even agree to insurance requirements . What I mean is I’m setting up and breaking down most of the season . This is a 400Watt Amp and I could use one . Thank you , good review and cool insights . Good day .
New amp sounds great. Happy for you. Please let us know what happens when you get the replacement battery up and going. Curious if the life of the battery is based on continuous use or specific volume level or things like that. The amp I have now is good for around five hours but if I am pushing it to ten and using effects I get a bit less. Looking forward to seeing you use it for a live stream. Btw, I received the notebooks I ordered. Really liking them. Already putting one to use working on some new stuff.
Definitely will do dude! I’m also intrigued what the actual battery life is like… when I spoke to the tech support they assured me this isn’t a regular thing and that it should handle longer even with multiple inputs, FX, Bluetooth etc on… but only one way to really find these things out 🙌🏻😃 I think I’ll make a proper review video once I’ve been using it a few months and figured it all out ✌🏻 thank you for the support, I appreciate it!
Crazy video, great vocals. I do have a basic question, can we connect this to our mobile phone and sing on a backing track ? I have used the Cube Street 2 Bluetooth version for a while and want a new busking amp. This sounds amazing and the sd card recording and streaming just changes the game
I can’t get a straight answer yet. These amps and those like them EV8, S1, etc are said not to sound good if you use an electric guitar especially wireless. Other channels tell me you have to get a pre-amp, few hundred dollars more, any thoughts?
I wish I could give you a straight answer but I'm afraid I've yet to test the Mackie out with an electric guitar. Sound-wise I can definitely vouch for it being top notch. It's like any pro PA and I guess when it comes to Electric, its best to treat it in the same way. I don't think a pre-amp is necessary, but maybe using pedals instead of the in-built FX is the best way to achieve a specific sound! I hope this helps at least a bit! 🙌 😀
I only have good words about it! It's an incredible piece of kit. I don't have any first hand experience with the Everse but I also hear good things! 😀🙌
That's exactly what you've got on this video. I left the camera audio on at about -20db, so there's a tiny blend of street ambience... could probably allow for more! I'll keep experimenting 😃🙌
What's your thoughts on using this as a main pa for a pub gig say if you daisy chain it to a second 1000w PA speaker for volume and a stereo spread. Would you say it's a "pro" enough live sound? seriously considering it for a slimmed down travel PA
100% I use it to play pub gigs all the time - I've also played several large pub gardens and a big event in a Marquee too and it held up like any other PA would! 🙌 in fact, at the event I was playing, there was the option to use a PA but for sake of ease I used the ShowBox and had an arguable better sound than what was coming from the PA! 😀 As you say, you could also line out to a second PA or speaker too!
@@AugustRadioProject awesome, thanks for the response dude. Sounds great on here but it's always tricky to tell over a TH-cam video you know. Seriously considering getting one. Great playing by the way! Love your voice
Want one . I went down the Bose S1 pro + route and I’m very disappointed I was sold on the wireless capabilities but it just doesn’t work I get drop out and interference till I just gave up and went back to cables also it doesn’t have the push at my gigs and I have to supplement it with one of my old S1pros which gives me transportation problems x
Dang! That’s so annoying. I know a few folks with Bose S1’s who speak highly of them but I’m certain they’ll all be wired up and perhaps not playing gigs with them 🙌🏻 it’s good to know! I hope you’re able to sort something out too 😃
Before I had the Showbox, I used to just use the camera microphone's audio. The quality isn't as great but it does capture the street ambience nicely. Another method I experimented with for a bit was plugging a Zoom Handheld recorder into the line out of my other busking amp (Samson Explor) which actually made for a pretty decent audio quality - you just have to make sure you get the gain settings right on the Zoom 🙌 I see other buskers who take audio interfaces and their laptops with them - great if you want to record into separate tracks and do some post-production. Not so great to be carrying around that kind of equipment! There's a few videos about it on YT, maybe I'll do one on the subject soon! 😀
@@AugustRadioProject thanks a lot for that answer, The showbox didn’t record the channels separately? The showbox will record a backing track from a Bluetooth paired device btw? And two more questions please… Do you thing the showbox gonna sounds good with distortions and electric guitar generally ? And wanna know also if you think the showbox is strong enough for the streets? And I don’t mean loud enough…I’m talking more about is built quality and his materials…. Thanks a lot❤️
ITs kinda unique like it takes out the audience to a degree like having your own mixer man lol, can you download tones? What do you use to record your events for the video?
It charges at the mains, takes about 3 hours to get back to full from flat. Battery life is approximately 12 hours but I usually charge mine after around 7/8 hours of use (every other day!) 😊 street cube is always a mighty fine rig, Showbox does have the features so if you think you’ll use them then I’d say go for it! 🙌🏻
will this amp be adequate for a space of 65 people? I have a coolmusic bp60d which is very similar 2 - 8" speakers and 4 channels 120 watts . sorta like a knockoff of a roland street cube . I have used it live in smaller spaces and was adequate but not quite great. thinking about the showbox ......also can an additional powered speaker be connected for motoring purposes?
I played a big 150+ people marquee with it and it held up like any other PA. 400w goes a long way 😂🙌 It's SUPER versatile and I've still yet to crank it all the way up! You could plug an additional speaker or monitor into the mix out!
Hey Bro, great video, representation and performance as well! I got a good feel for the Mackie by around 18:00 in your vid IDE like to hear an electric guitar through it. You mentioned some onboard plugin/effects, modeling options. If you have an electric guitar at your crib please plug it and share with me and the rest of your audience those features. (Or maybe you have a Freind who shreds that you could invite over to demo 🤘😀). I don’t need to wish you luck. You’re working hard at what you love to do, your success is inevitable. 👍
Hey! Thank you for the words on the video - I appreciate it. I can certainly do an electric guitar demonstration! It's a really good idea actually 😀 Video incoming! 🙌
But how does it sound without the SD card out in the open do you have any recordings of that?. So you're showing us recordings of the best possible sound which is through the SD card not through the speakers itself.
I know I don't demonstrate it much in this video but I can definitely vouch for it sounding great! If you're okay taking my word. The SD recording has absolutely no post-production added to it so it's exactly what's coming through the speaker! There's a small sample of the sound on this video from 20:00 - th-cam.com/video/VYrvUwvlfxA/w-d-xo.html Maybe that'll help! 😀🙌
Now we're hearing ALL the detail of your guitar playing. Those endings are getting very sophisticated and are becoming your own trademark I think. That's the one disadvantage with a built-in battery. I like devices that run off AA batteries, then if you carry spare (rechargeable) ones, you never run out of power. How long does it take to recharge from empty?
So cool! I’m so stoked that it’s such an up in quality - I’ve been trying to figure out a way to improve the audio and this has just come to me 😃 the battery takes 4 hours to charge from flat I think 🙌🏻
As far as I understand you can only get audio from the SD card. That means when you're editing the video, you add the audio from SD card and align it with the sound from your camera, then mute the audio of camera channel to get rid of ambient noise. Is that all correct?
I’m considering this particular speaker as well. Seems to address a wide variety of needs, especially busking. The direct audio sounds high quality. However, at the same time I somewhat miss the ambient sounds. Those sounds really add to the quality of the busking experience and immerses us, your audience into your experience as well. I’m torn. Kind of like I want my cake and eat it too. 😊. Thanks for your review.
It’s such a rad piece of gear - as you say, it kinda covers everything 😃🙌🏻 highly recommend it!! I’ve had a few people say they miss the ambience so I’m gonna try my best to add it in 😃 you’ll have to let me know on the next few videos if it’s any better! 🙌🏻
Nice, a guitar and now an amp for free. Crazy how much quicker your channel has been growing, took ages to get to 1k subs but already well over double that. How long does it take you to learn to play a new song (not one you wrote, just if you decide to add one to your set list)?
I know, I’m honestly so stoked and it’s so affirming- feels like I’m truly on the right path 😃🙌🏻 As for your question… it’s a good idea for a video topic. I can usually learn a song within a week or so if I listen to it a lot and then play it at least twice in every set. It just gets daunting sometimes to put in something new and unfamiliar - something I’m working on 😃🙌🏻
Hey Ben, great sound. I’m into keeping things as simple as possible when I’m out busking. I use my iPhone to film myself (a bit further away from me than you tend to do). Can you stream the Mackie sound to your camera/phone wirelessly so the sound on the phone is the sound from the rig? I know I could import sound from an SD card, but it’s an extra pfaff. Keep up the good work mate 👍
Hey Mark! Simple is definitely the way to go… I completely hear you there 😃 as far as I’m aware you can only stream the sound via the usb c port meaning a cable between your phone and the Mackie. I’ll look into a bit deeper because if they haven’t thought of doing it via Bluetooth yet then that would be a cracking feature 🙌🏻
@@AugustRadioProject cheers mate. I’ve just checked on Amazon, and there appear to be quite a few USB-C to iPhone Bluetooth transmitter>receivers available, so I reckon that could work. If you get chance to test one (you may not use an iPhone as your camera) then please let us all know how well it works!
I’m not 100% sure why but I was in a music shop when I was 10 years old and I was looking at the electric guitars, something about it just mesmerised me…! I got one for my 11th birthday and from then on it’s been my life and blood 😃🙌🏻
The camera is a Canon M50 with a 11-22mm lens on it 😃 honestly, the audio is mainly down to the Mackie Showbox but I use the direct audio from that and blend in a small amount of the camera audio too 🙌🏻
I'm learning that 6 hours is actually a pretty good amount of battery life. I've met several buskers recently who have old busking amps that can only handle 1/2 hours... Mackie did send me a new battery and so far this seems to hold the charge with no problems! 😃 🙌
This might be a silly question / but having all this expensive equipment what do you do or all Buskers do when you need to use a restroom ? Who watches your equipments .
Some buskers just risk it, leave it unattended. Or you can ask some nearby friendly folk to watch over it (this is easier when you get to know places and therefore the people). But by far the most effective is to get really good at holding it 🤣 I don’t drink much whilst I play and I try to limit water intake before a day of busking… crazy what the human body can do!
@@AugustRadioProject Thats what I thought . I guess I play close enough to restrooms ! LOL!! Thanks to u I already been thinking of a few places to start out that are somewhat isolated just folks jagging ect... It will be my first time !!! I have a list made of the things I will be needing like the card reader and a few signs ect.. I will also be selling my memoir Abandoned in A hammock hv u known of other buskers that have ? I really I appreciate you and your videos they have help me so much , I didn't even know about busking or that it was a thing until I ran into ur TH-cam page . I am 62 somewhat retired hv 3 dogs and there up keep its so expensive ! plus personal stuff .. U know of any buskers my age ? or hv seen? anyway thank UUU! for being U!
@@hmanuelpanflutesecrets This is so awesome - I'm so stoked for you!! 😃 It's rad you'll be selling your memoir too. I don't know of any buskers who sell their memoir but there's a great book by the busker David Fisher called 'Busking Beyond Boarders'. Definitely a great read for any busking adventurers! Also I know of buskers who are many different ages, lot's of folks in their 60's and some even older! 🙌 good luck out there!!
Most cost effective is staying with friends/family 😃 hostels are very cheap but I usually opt for a private room so I can store my gear with peace of mind 🙌🏻 the good news with a busking adventure is you can usually use the busking to pay for the expense 😊
@@AugustRadioProject fair play, best of luck on the road. The SD record feature on the Speaker is an excellent feature, maybe mix it in post with a bit the camera mic for a bit of street life 👍🏻
For all you folks that say _"ohh.. it sounds so crisp"_: You fell into the trap that Mackie set for you. You are listening to the direct recording, not the actual box, that you would hear in the audience. And sadly the Showbox falls really short when it comes to live sound. I bought it and sent it back after three days because the Box sounds muddy and boxy. It was the first acoustic-amp/small PA that made my masterbuilt acoustic guitars sound bad. And it delivers less headroom than a Fishman mini or a JBL EON one compact. And BTW the effects sound tinny and cheap too compared to other products. Mackie really dropped the ball on this one.
Nice review, bro. I'm a musician too. Me and my wife are performing here in China. Do you think this is worth it to buy or there's better busking amp that you can recommend?
Honestly, it's so incredible! It comes highly recommended from me and anyone I know who also has one only says similar! It's the sort of rig where you'll never need anything else and it covers all basis: busking, gigs, events, etc... Rad you're performing in China! 😀 🙌
I've never used the Everse so I'm definitely Mackie bias. Spec-wise they seem pretty similar, perhaps Mackie has a few more features? The Mackie is spectacular in almost every way so I'm sure you won't be disappointed either way! 😀 🙌
Looks rad. Love the vibe of your videos. Question….I have a 60w laneu loudpedal amp with an xlr out. Do you think that would connect to either the xlr in or guitar input? If so would you put it on PA mode?
Thank you for the kind words! 😃 🙌 I'm not familiar with the Laney but it seems as though it would be fine for guitar. If it has an XLR out on it then I'd say it's fine too. Tbh both guitar and mics that don't require additional power are passive signals so they should be absolutely fine to pass through the pedal! Hope you figure it out!
At the moment, it just records onto a single wav file. So the mix needs to be nailed pre-recording. It's a top quality recording that you get but if it doesn't record each channel separately (yet!) and therefore you can't do any post-production or editing... 😀 🙌
I've been thinking about upgrading my busking amp because of nasty feedback coming from the amp. I've been using Fender 40W Champion. Was considering the Boss/Roland Street Cube but this looks amazing with the option to stream good quality audio as I currently livestream! One question, do you reckon this would work on a violin with pick up or an electric violin? Thanks!
This is awesome! I would imagine it would sound great with the violin! I can't talk from experience but it's like any high quality PA in terms of sound so I'm pretty confident on it! 😃 🙌
Im excited for you im about to start a youtube channel but im using loopy pro now anyhow and thinking a tiny jbl for portability i had a bose s1 but sold it well done!
This is awesome! I highly recommend making a TH-cam channel… much like busking, it’s so rewarding. 😃 those JBL’s are great for their portability eh! 🙌🏻
@@AugustRadioProject yeah youre energy is infectious, happy to share any info about loopy pro if you want, i once had a mackie go but the battery was bung
Lo que me preocupa de este parlante es que no tiene desfogue osea que a todo volumen suene con distorsión y los bajos no salgan que me cuentas sobre eso hermnano.
I'm not sure what happens at full volume but I can tell you that there's absolutely no sign of distortion at low to mid volumes. It's really quality sound! I'll let ya know how it fairs at louder volumes once I've used it for a gig or two 😃 🙌
Thank you, I appreciate it! As for your question… that’s up to you but I’d say so! If you’re playing music in the street is definitely going to happen - see it as free promotion, you never know who might be filming you and who they might know 👀😃🙌🏻
wow, i can't believe someone finally managed to pack everything into a single unit a busker needs. battery powered (with a battery life of more than enough hours, if it really does work), i'm guessing 400 watts is the peak perfomance, but even then the RMS should probably be somewhere around 200 watts, that's still all the power you ever need. the mix console for the price point is batshit crazy, dear every other manufacturer: COMPRESSOR! i guess there's no guitarist who doesn't have a problem with the volume difference between finger picking and strumming. the console is even mobile, oh my god, that's something i didn't even know i would have wanted, to not have to step back to the amp if i wanted a slightly different setting for different songs, and all of this coming with a built in looper is just the cherry on top (in case you can control it with a pedal through the footswitch channel i saw on the back, otherwise this feature is just a simple "not bad"). i have one single con against this, namely the lack of a retractable handle and a pair of wheels, i mean that one should be included in every battery powered rig, since that's the whole point of it, mobility. still it's a 5/5
It’s such a rad piece of kit! The sound quality is kinda unbelievable! And yes, the compressor is a game changer - it super charges my vocals 😃 also this comment is epic, it would have made an incredible script for this video 🤣😊✌🏻
Wow, you can REALLY hear the difference between the cam mic and the SD card, ahhh man, I want now though, ha ha which means more expense...Add it to my list
🤣🤣🤣 it’s such an incredible feature. I can’t believe the quality too. What you’re hearing here is literally the raw files from the SD card, I do no mixing to them 😊
You almost had me! Maybe I should try a move away from my eco-acoustic aesthetic … I have a lovely sounding amp that cost twice the price, has tons of spl, separate four-band eq on both channels, with an amazing fraction of the footprint, but also unfortunately a fraction of the feature set of the Mackie. I’m happy to use it for gigs, but it is mains-powered only. I’ve definitely no wish to get into 12v batteries and inverters or power banks for street performances. I have enough dealings with both in my van and when at home on my boat. So, I make acoustic playing a virtue and I’m happy to do so. Besides my existing rig - guitar/Footdrum kit/harps - needs a trolley that already I can’t easily take on public transport, much as I’d love to - though, to be honest, most of my regular busking towns aren’t on a rail line or when they do have stations it takes a thirty to fifty mile detour to reach them. My nearest station is ten miles away to start with and the one train an hour has often been cancelled over the many years I’ve travelled from there. Back to the amp though, the option for live streaming and sd card recording, though, very cool! That would be a game changer for me and a whole new direction to consider. Then you got to the kicker … six-hour battery life? Faulty battery or not that’s just too stressful for an old geezer like me. Can’t do it, man 😂 Look forward to seeing how you resolve the situation. x
Haha! I hear you Marshalander! I think you gotta go with what suits you best and that goes for every busker 🙌🏻 it seems like you’ve got your set up dialled in for what you need it for and that’s rad 😃 for me, the amp makes sense for what I do but should I head out to Europe to where amps are not allowed I’m sure I’ll have to experiment 😊 thank you as always for the support and wisdom ✌🏻
I've not had any experience with the Bose S1 Pro Plus but I do know a busker or two who use one and they swear by them. From a look online, it seems like the Mackie and the Bose have a fair amount in common... I'd say the main differences that are perhaps in the Mackie's favour is that is has 6 channels, a physical mixer that can be detached and places on a mic stand and the in-built SD card recording function. 😃🙌
I'm glad you've upgraded. It's a never ending road with gear. Your guitar playing deserves this, compared to the Samson. It may, or may not be the best, but as long as it serves it's purpose and makes you happy that's the main thing....(For now...😊) I've got the Bose S1 Pro, JBL EON ONE COMPACT, and more and It's ........interesting. Enjoy anyway dude P.S_The live recording from SD card was pretty clean, I didn't expect that TBF. I wonder if it's 32 bit.
I’ve heard a few S1 Pros in the wild and manny buskers say good things about them - it seems like a solid rig 😃🙌🏻 thank you for the comment and support, I appreciate it!
@@AugustRadioProject ...Yes, the S1 Pro is very small , versatile and crisp solid quality, as you'd expect from Bose. A little off topic , I loved the story about you running a half marathon in the USA . As a runner it bought a big chuckle to my face, and I knew you would win for some reason. I just wondered what your time was? Thanks
@@bennyhill3505 haha! It’s still one of the top 3 moments of my life… every time I think about it I can’t believe it happened! 🤣 My time for that particular race was 91 minutes or so… ✌🏻 always take my trainers with me wherever I go 🏃🏼♂️ always adds to the experience and story…!
Give Mackie a message. I had an issue with the battery when I got the showbox, messaged the technical team and they sent me a replacement battery straight away! 😃 there's been no issues since! 🙌
Thank you for this I have emailed mackie customer support twice and had no response even tried calling them in Canada do you know we’re I could purchase a replacement battery
It's so great to see you growing and getting free stuff and all that. Love your video's cause you are great at telling a comprehensive story so keep up the good work. That being said, i really think it would be a great idea to think a bit more about the lighting in your video's. Especialy the parts at your home. That light in the back does annoy me and i think it's way better when you just remove it. Check out some video's about this, i honestly think it would improve the video quality by a lot.
I appreciate this so much - it’s all stuff I’m forever trying to improve. 😃🙌🏻 I’m stoked it’s coming across! I agree with you too… need to purchase some proper lighting I think 🤔 I’ve noticed the camera sometimes goes a little fuzzy with my current set up so all things I’ll work on 😊😃🙌🏻

Ben I should not of watched this video🤣🤣 The Mackie Showbox is something else. I want one🤣🤣. I must confess I am a gear nerd. I've been using the Roland Cube Street ex for 3/4 years now It's an awesome amp and loads of busker's swear by it but i think the Mackie Showbox might just change all that. It's got some awesome features and it sounds cool. I always get anxious when drunks, homeless people, thuggish type people come talking to me i always think there up to something you handled it well. 🎤🎸🎼🎼🎶🎵🎶🎵
The Cube is definitely the OG of busking amps… I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about them 😃 but I’m so stoked on the Mackie, especially due to the SD card recording - just need to sort this battery issue out 🙌🏻 that’s one thing that isn’t a problem for Roland’s eh 😊

The recorded sound is very good! Maybe mix in a little of the ambient sound so it sounds more live😃👏🏼👏🏼
What joy young man , to hear fresh gifted singing . Thanks . Clapping hands I join with the audience . Excellente.
Thank you! 😀 🙌
Wow! The vocals are so much crisper. It's a big level up.
It’s so cool eh! Excited to use it for future videos once the batteries sorted 😃🙌🏻
I am super intrigued and want to get more info. Battery life is important of course. Also issues of area coverage but I'm guessing that isn't a problem. Further updates would be much appreciated. @@AugustRadioProject
@@boogiesnookie7111 I’ll do a big proper review video of it once I’ve been using it for a few months, that way I’ll have figured it out 🙌🏻😃
hi just found you today first of im an Irish man living mot part of my 69 years in Germany like yourself on the road mostly in Irish pubs etc,hey you are so cool love your wibe, and wau the amp is realy top thanks see you all the best john
CONGRATS ON THE MACKIE SWAG! YOUR JOY IS FUN. WHAT ABSOLUTELY SOLD ME ON THE SHOWBOX WAS HOW GREAT YOUR SD CARD RECORDING SOUNDED. BRAVO!
It’s so cool eh! Thank you so much 😃 the recording feature is a game changer! 😍🙌🏻
You have such a lovely energy ~
The amp sounds soooo good 🫠
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. And I know… the Mackie is something else! 🙌🏻😃
Brilliant video - I love your easy to watch enthusiasm and your personality is a joy to witness...
Thank you! 😀🙌
Great upgrade Ben ✊🏻🎉❤️ the quality is MUCH better❤️ you deserve all the success my friend 👍🏻bravissimo 🎉
Thank you my dude! I appreciate it 😃🙌🏻
Mate you've actually sold me
It's honestly incredible. No bad words to say about it 10 months on! 🙌 😀
Everything sounds crisp! I'm happy for you man, keep on rocking!
It’s so cool eh! Thank you, I appreciate it! 😃🙌🏻
I really enjoyed your video review of the ShowBox (and your performing). I'm in the states and have been looking for a shop where I can test drive one of these myself and no one seems to have one in stock. Your review was so positive I may just take the expensive gamble and order one. All the best!
I appreciate it so much! Thank you!! I hope you're able to find one to have a go with soon! 😀 🙌
Thankyou for showing this , I have an Amp makes my vocal sound tinny has mixers on it still not happy . Got me sold on this looks like to be the buskers dream 🙌
Honestly, I don't have a bad word to say about it! It's an incredible piece of gear! 😀 🙌
More than I need right now, but you sound great dude. I wish busking was more of a thing in my town.
Hey man love how you speak your mind like honestly everytime. You gonna get there Im sure😎 cheers from the the Philippines🇵🇭

@@AugustRadioProject welcome👌👌
I came here for the review and demo and ended up subscribing! New fan of this awesome musician!!! You sound amazing! Guitar and vocals! 🎸🤘
Thank you so much! So stoked to hear it! 😀 🙌
Agree, better than the S1, which is not loud enough in my opinion. Also, check the Mackie Thumb Pro. It's slightly smaller and not so heavy.
It is a rad piece of gear. It literally does everything you could ever need it too (I think anyway!) 😃🙌🏻
Thanks for sharing this! The audio on the SD card sounds fantastic! I’m definitely getting a showbox!
It's an absolute game changer. Whoever came up with the idea to put it on here made such a legendary move! 😀 🙌
Good day .
Stoked to hear it! 😀 🙌
It’s so super clean. I am using headphones 💥🔥
That’s epic! 🎧😃🙌🏻
Congrats! Sounds absolutely killer!
(Hope you get the battery thing worked out!)
Me too my dude! There’s a new one on it’s way 😃🙌🏻
I already own a Bose S1. Since I'm a singer, I was wondering if this speaker is any louder, and if it's better for vocals?? Thank you.
Hey! Yes, you can connect the phone via bluetooth or aux input on the Mackie and use backing tracks! 😀 it is an absolute game changer! 🙌
Damn. I was going to get a Electro-Voice Everse-8. This is making me reconsider. This will end up being my 4th Mackie in a row.
I only have good words about it! It's an incredible piece of kit. I don't have any first hand experience with the Everse but I also hear good things! 😀🙌
Great feature for your channel. What's it sound like when there's a mix of both? Mostly the amp recording and a little bit of the street?
I hope you’re able to sort something out too 😃
You're so amazing. I'm a busker here in the Philippines 🙂
Thank you! I appreciate it! 😀🙌
Great video, what is the best way to record audio when busking if you didn’t have showbox?
@@AugustRadioProject thanks a lot for that answer,
The showbox didn’t record the channels separately?
The showbox will record a backing track from a Bluetooth paired device btw?
And two more questions please…
Do you thing the showbox gonna sounds good with distortions and electric guitar generally ?
And wanna know also if you think the showbox is strong enough for the streets?
And I don’t mean loud enough…I’m talking more about is built quality and his materials….
Thanks a lot❤️
ITs kinda unique like it takes out the audience to a degree like having your own mixer man lol, can you download tones? What do you use to record your events for the video?
It's such a rad piece of kit! 🙌 the audio on the video comes direct from the Mackie (the inbuilt SD card slot!) 😀
I was going to buy the street cube 2 now i dont know that has harmoniser and looper ....but your seems better what powers it usb? how long it go for ?
It charges at the mains, takes about 3 hours to get back to full from flat. Battery life is approximately 12 hours but I usually charge mine after around 7/8 hours of use (every other day!) 😊 street cube is always a mighty fine rig, Showbox does have the features so if you think you’ll use them then I’d say go for it! 🙌🏻
great amp mate.. love the sd record..
It’s so rad! Such a game changer for the audio of these videos 😍🙌🏻😃
will this amp be adequate for a space of 65 people? I have a coolmusic bp60d which is very similar 2 - 8" speakers and 4 channels 120 watts . sorta like a knockoff of a roland street cube . I have used it live in smaller spaces and was adequate but not quite great. thinking about the showbox ......also can an additional powered speaker be connected for motoring purposes?
I played a big 150+ people marquee with it and it held up like any other PA. 400w goes a long way 😂🙌 It's SUPER versatile and I've still yet to crank it all the way up! You could plug an additional speaker or monitor into the mix out!
@@AugustRadioProject thank you for the info!
Pretty much spot on although I don’t completely mute the camera audio, there’s a some left in the mix as to give a little street ambiance 😃🙌🏻
@@AugustRadioProjectMan, that's quite an effort to align all the audio from the SD card with the videos for each song. Thanks for confirming!
Love mackie speakers
Nice, a guitar and now an amp for free. Crazy how much quicker your channel has been growing, took ages to get to 1k subs but already well over double that.
How long does it take you to learn to play a new song (not one you wrote, just if you decide to add one to your set list)?
I know, I’m honestly so stoked and it’s so affirming- feels like I’m truly on the right path 😃🙌🏻
As for your question… it’s a good idea for a video topic. I can usually learn a song within a week or so if I listen to it a lot and then play it at least twice in every set. It just gets daunting sometimes to put in something new and unfamiliar - something I’m working on 😃🙌🏻
happy to see you happy man! ❤ keep it up
I appreciate this so much! Thank you 😃🙌🏻
Hey Ben, great sound.
It only takes 3 to 4 hours to recharge the battery
The higher, the volume you play at decreases the time of the battery
Would also be interested to hear about your choice of instrument. Why this guitar in particular and such!
I’m not 100% sure why but I was in a music shop when I was 10 years old and I was looking at the electric guitars, something about it just mesmerised me…! I got one for my 11th birthday and from then on it’s been my life and blood 😃🙌🏻
I'm looking at a cube ex street atm pre owned for 300 quid
May I know what camera you use? And how did you sync the sd card recording together with the video? Your video is amazing!! 🙏
The camera is a Canon M50 with a 11-22mm lens on it 😃 honestly, the audio is mainly down to the Mackie Showbox but I use the direct audio from that and blend in a small amount of the camera audio too 🙌🏻
The showbox battery recording time depends on the volume that you’re playing at more volume less time but six hours is still great
I'm learning that 6 hours is actually a pretty good amount of battery life. I've met several buskers recently who have old busking amps that can only handle 1/2 hours... Mackie did send me a new battery and so far this seems to hold the charge with no problems! 😃 🙌
Man this absolutely cool like your demo
😀 🙌
Great video, wish you well. Where do you usually sleep when you stay over in a city, I mean cost effectively? Thanks
I'm in doubt between Everse 8 and Mackie??
I've never used the Everse so I'm definitely Mackie bias. Spec-wise they seem pretty similar, perhaps Mackie has a few more features? The Mackie is spectacular in almost every way so I'm sure you won't be disappointed either way! 😀 🙌
Will this sound good with an effects processor like a line 6 helix,line6 pod go or boss gtx 100 etc?
I can’t speak from experience of using one but I would imagine it’ll sound great. It’s just like running through any good quality PA system 😃🙌🏻
$800? Yikes, that is so out of my range. Great sounding amp.
It's definitely at the upper end of things price wise but 100% worth it if you can make it work! You'll never need another one! 😃🙌
Is the recording multitrack and pre-fader and fx/processing?
At the moment, it just records onto a single wav file. So the mix needs to be nailed pre-recording. It's a top quality recording that you get but if it doesn't record each channel separately (yet!) and therefore you can't do any post-production or editing... 😀 🙌
@@AugustRadioProject Oh. Any idea of a setup that does this?
@@UndertheMangoTree not at the moment! It’s definitely something they’ll come out with eventually, seems inevitable 😃🙌🏻

I'll let ya know how it fairs at louder volumes once I've used it for a gig or two 😃 🙌
You have earned all yr subs.Is it ok if people film me on their phones if I go busking.thanx

Get AER compact 60-4
I know a fair few buskers who love their AER’s! 😃🙌🏻
wow, i can't believe someone finally managed to pack everything into a single unit a busker needs. battery powered (with a battery life of more than enough hours, if it really does work), i'm guessing 400 watts is the peak perfomance, but even then the RMS should probably be somewhere around 200 watts, that's still all the power you ever need. the mix console for the price point is batshit crazy, dear every other manufacturer: COMPRESSOR! i guess there's no guitarist who doesn't have a problem with the volume difference between finger picking and strumming. the console is even mobile, oh my god, that's something i didn't even know i would have wanted, to not have to step back to the amp if i wanted a slightly different setting for different songs, and all of this coming with a built in looper is just the cherry on top (in case you can control it with a pedal through the footswitch channel i saw on the back, otherwise this feature is just a simple "not bad"). i have one single con against this, namely the lack of a retractable handle and a pair of wheels, i mean that one should be included in every battery powered rig, since that's the whole point of it, mobility. still it's a 5/5
It’s such a rad piece of kit! The sound quality is kinda unbelievable! And yes, the compressor is a game changer - it super charges my vocals 😃 also this comment is epic, it would have made an incredible script for this video 🤣😊✌🏻
Sounds great I use a Roland ba330 but this sounds nice.
did my first busk today, using a laptop speak with 3.5m direct to my guitar
Congratulations 🎉

Can’t do it, man 😂 Look forward to seeing how you resolve the situation. x
Too big and too heavy
Recording sounds amazing - next level!
This has given me severe GAS!
It's awesome that gear manufacturers are supporting the grass roots
mine is on its way!
Stoked for you! 😀🙌
Better than Bose S1 pro plus????
I've not had any experience with the Bose S1 Pro Plus but I do know a busker or two who use one and they swear by them. From a look online, it seems like the Mackie and the Bose have a fair amount in common... I'd say the main differences that are perhaps in the Mackie's favour is that is has 6 channels, a physical mixer that can be detached and places on a mic stand and the in-built SD card recording function. 😃🙌
I'm glad you've upgraded. It's a never ending road with gear. Your guitar playing deserves this, compared to the Samson.
It may, or may not be the best, but as long as it serves it's purpose and makes you happy that's the main thing....(For now...😊)
I've got the Bose S1 Pro, JBL EON ONE COMPACT, and more and It's ........interesting.
Enjoy anyway dude
P.S_The live recording from SD card was pretty clean, I didn't expect that TBF.
My time for that particular race was 91 minutes or so… ✌🏻 always take my trainers with me wherever I go 🏃🏼♂️ always adds to the experience and story…!
This is a Sing Along , yea !
😀 🙌
You remind me of ed Sheeran you have a awesome voice you should be making big money❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love the amp but my battery is dying after 5 hours twice it’s happend not happy about this
Give Mackie a message.
@@pokerface1959 dang, I’ll try and find out for you! 🙌🏻
TH-cam won,t let me post PRS details phone them they answer
It's so great to see you growing and getting free stuff and all that. Love your video's cause you are great at telling a comprehensive story so keep up the good work.
That being said, i really think it would be a great idea to think a bit more about the lighting in your video's. Especialy the parts at your home. That light in the back does annoy me and i think it's way better when you just remove it. Check out some video's about this, i honestly think it would improve the video quality by a lot.
I appreciate this so much - it’s all stuff I’m forever trying to improve. 😃🙌🏻 I’m stoked it’s coming across!
I agree with you too… need to purchase some proper lighting I think 🤔 I’ve noticed the camera sometimes goes a little fuzzy with my current set up so all things I’ll work on 😊😃🙌🏻
Awesome. Bring the guitar up a bit next time, and you're golden.
Thank you! Yes, definitely need to dial in my mixing skills for this one 😃🙌🏻 give me some time with it and I’m sure I’ll start getting it right!
Great video
Thank you so much! 😃 🙌
why it recorded ?? not sense ...i Think bad sound at live
The recorded sound is direct from the box so it sounds exactly as it does live (just without the street ambience) 😃🙌🏻
That looks super cheap, how much did they pay you to do this?
Zero! It's freakin' rad and I wouldn't say otherwise! 🙌 😊
wow ...
🙌 😀
if they add 6 recording wav files it will be amazing
This is definitely the next move I think! 😀🙌
I always make sure my amp is fully charged every time I get home.....
I use jbl eon one compact to busk
Super efficient! 😃🙌🏻
Yes . I do too . I like the Sound Engineer backup as well . The Product Guide is Loaded with their tech. I personally updated the Firmware and use the latest JBL Professional Compact app available from both Apple and Google Play essentially . Thanks for such a single sentence thread .
Praise God dude!
SO happy for you!!! God’s bless in’ you hard homie. HE’s blessed me through you:)
God bless you, your work, your family n’ the rest of your day/night!

Do you record your songs in the studio?
Have you never used an EV Everse 8 ?
I haven’t no? If I’m honest I’m not that familiar with a lot of gear! Something I should maybe read up on a little more? 😃🙌🏻
Stop... Stop... Or I will need to sell my 2 beautiful cats to buy this amazing AMP !!!!! 😁🎶🎙️
🤣🤣🤣 the music gear conundrum eh!!
hey August, wanna come on m podcast?
Hey! Maybe shoot me an email at info@augustradioproject.com and we can figure something out 😃🙌🏻

Best? Certainly most expensive, based on the current Amazon price of $1,079 CAD. (as of June 28, 2024)
For busking? I don't think so.
It’s definitely on the higher end eh! 🙌🏻 what I will say is it’s incredible and goes beyond busking! I played a big Marquee at an event a few weekends ago and it held up as well as any full blown PA system! 😃
