Actually going to temples or even outside is not recommended. The sraardham itself actually concludes the next day with tharpanam only so until then visits may have to be reduced. But if everything is completed the same day, don't see an issue. When in doubt I would recommend asking your vaadhiyar than internet feedback. With changing times, he may give a good answer

The arpanam / thila udkam comes from youngest brother to next to jyesta bratah (eldest) who finally releases it. He says that parents wants to see their children UNITED AT LEAST on shradhdham day. Would be obliged if some one provides authentic dharma sastram reference to this. Any way SASTRA by itself means Samyak thraayathehi iti - one which leads is in good path. and SASTRAs can never be a burden to follow because it will then defeat the definition. I have listened to Sarma sastrigal on many issues but some of them seems to be modified versions than original. The daughter's can do by giving pillu to a brahmin (or their husbands) and asking him to do it. If the parents don't have sons homam is not possible from what I gather. In the past the brother's sons can also do sraartham but don't see that feasibility these days

We have 4 nathanars..every year all 3 brothers perform srartham together. Next we have our mamaiyars pondugal.saree is given in turn to all the four daughters.if sons perform srartham separately how to perform pondugal.each is in a different city

I am appalled to add many vadyars don't follow the vedic instructions karmas, proper rituals, mantras, prayogam,...they drink alcohol, eat mutton biryani...bring shame to Brahmin community. Acoording to my vadyar ( ganapadigal) only the first son ( jeshta putra or equivalent) has the right, power to do srardam....only his offerings will go to our pitrus. Rest are jujubis.
