Aaaw! Sharon M. I am 36 years Young and have recently decided to go back to school and study and will be looking to start a new career at 40! I wake up at night in panic wondering if I have gone mad, questioning if I have made the right decision. I believe that life is a journey and you discover and grow yourself along the way. You will be great and you deserve to be in those rooms because you are Enough.

Sharon 💓 just reminded me, it's okay to be vulnerable. It's okay to not be completely okay. It's okay to have doubts about certain things. It's okay to feel conflicted sometimes.
It's just sad that the society doesn't make it easy. People expect you to be right all the time, to know what you want, to keep promises you made years ago.
You can, but we are allowed to change our minds about things, we are allowed to make decisions, then course correct along the way depending on how things turn out - its the definition of being human.

I just want to speak on, having the right to do something or be in a room and speak to certain people. I have realised, after turning 40, you do what you want with your life, it's not a matter of having the right to do something- your life is is life, you do what you want, walk into any room you want, and sell yourself and your product to whomever you want. Nobody has any authority to say you don't have a right to be in a room, other people in the room, girl they are just like you, same insecurities. And those insecurities, they are not real- it's just culture, putting things in our heads to make us afraid of appearing different or strange in society. Trust in who you are, be led by your goals and what you want to build, and forget those negative emotions that try to limit you from your goals, like insecurity, and fear of what people will say and fear of success and what that means. I think Sharon, you are wise beyond your years, far wiser than what I was at your age. You deserve a great beautiful successful life, and work for it like anything else, don't worry about other people, look inward, work on yourself and your goals and you will look up and have everything you prayed for-if you work on it everyday. A good life is earned- that's what they don't tell you. Everything, good friendships, careers, marriages, good relationships with kids or siblings as an adult, 18+ you work for everything you want. If you can accept that full heartedly, then life becomes very simple. You'll be ok, everything will work out, because it's obvious you are open minded, and seek solutions from professionals like therapists- find others like successful business people, lawyers, accountants, people with awesome relationships, successful mom's, just the best advice you can get based on experience and with your gut, and mind, and goals- you will find contentment and authenticity in your life and brand- if that is what you want. Best wishes. Don't ask for permission girl. Don't do that, nobody will give it you, they don't know your goals! You have to step up and say, I am going for this, and I need to be in this room, to get to the next step in this journey. So I am going to make this connection because they can help me get to this place I want to get to, and while I am here, I am going to find out how so can help them so we are helping each other out- that way you give value and they get value. Adult relationships are only great when you exchange value. Sorry to go on and on....hope it illuminates something for you.

    Sharon is bae.
She presents as tough and focussed which she probably is but to recognise the doubt and uncertainty she's shown here is what truly touched my heart. For us millenial African women, it's almost as if we're bred by society to never show even a whisper of imperfection. Look at us smiling, happy and getting shit done but our true authentic selves remain locked up and stifled somewhere demanding to be acknowledged and respected. Sharon, if you're reading this, the time will come that you will present exactly as you've envisioned and on your terms. I pray for you that you have a solid hyper-intelligent emotionally alert support system that will be there when you need.
I also get overwhelmed by it all and often feel like no one truly understands my mechanisms. I immediately felt connected to you and I saw myself through you in this interview. Thank you for that. It's a blessing to us for someone as powerful as you to show your vulnerability like this.
    Sharon is bae.

Wow!!! This is such a beautiful comment. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
You know I do think that our culture often implies that’s it’s much better sweep things under the rug and not show that we may have faults and cracks in our systems, but I know social media has also done a lot to fuel the need for perfection. And honestly it’s exhausting. 😕
But I’m SO happy and grateful for platforms like these that allow for us to start to break free of that mould. ❤️

Also, your response has absolutely made my day!! 💃🏾 All the best to you. May you continue to be graceful and poise through it all. May you continue to lead and slay. May you continue to be authentic. ✊🏾

We never tell our kids to hide their drawings.. we clap and celebrate them for exploring their creativity.. so let’s celebrate everyone who shares their work! No one needs to be perfect we just need to keep exploring our creativity! It’s a crazy battle for everyone who is loves to share! But let’s just put out our gifts .. the world may not always applaud us when we try new stuff but we will be happy and free and it’ll be fun! Cheers to more light than darkness. Sharon, you're amazing. Thank you for being open with us. And oh honey, be 100% authentically you, at every stage of your life. We are so tired of these influencers and social media people, and speakers who pretend to always have their life together, to always know what they're doing, making the rest of us feel like crap for needing moments of pausing and re-evaluation. Thank you for being human enough to make us feel okay about those times in our lives when we're just living each day as it comes, not really sure of what we're doing, it's just a human thing. Anyone that won't accept you as you are is a hypocrite, and those are not the people you need in your life to grow, but those honest enough to admit it's human, and the rest of us who admire you for that, are still in your tribe.

The problem is there's just alot of pretence in this world. We idolize a certain lifestyle or a celebrity or "role model" instead of searching for what's really worth. Before you know it, you're in this pit hole of trying to please everyone and not really living your best life. Years go by and you slowly sink in and no one really cares about the "damaged you". Vulnerability is necessary, but only to the right people.

You are real. So many times in the streets of Nairobi people come off like they've got all their ducks in a row and woe be unto you if you are feeling confused, you are not sure about everything, you are self doubting, and you are vulnerable and open about it. People behave as if they've paid off their mortgage, they have savings for going to Mombasa over Christmas, they've signed up for their phds, opened a company and woe be unto you if you are still confused and have not jumped on the same bandwagon. You are apparently weak. Thanks for being real.

You know for the longest time, I used to look at people on social media who seemed to have perfect lives. Then I started meeting some of them, and their realities are far from what we see on social media. That's the day I stopped taking it very seriously and I told myself that I am enough with my imperfections. I am a work in progress but am learning that having flaws is part of my journey.

The struggle to be okay is real even when we are having challenges in life. You should be okay not being okay and we are all figuring ourselves out and are human. Sharon just be you people want to see you as being human and going through every struggles, it is in how you get over them that matter, that will inspire people. Do you and you do have a right to be in any room you are enough and very good believe that

Cut yourself some slack Sharon! Even though it is 'what you signed up for' it does not mean that you have to know it all and be ready for it all. A lawyer or an accountant who's been thaught everything faces curveballs. Don't let the world stress you, it's hard and I get it 100% but every time you are down tell yourself 'Sharon nobody expects you to know it all, now what!' and #live. Nobody has it easy or has it all figured out, whether a celebrity or not! We are not figuring it out and it's okay to have other dreams. In life you must evolve if another dream is growth for you... fly away baby girl.

Hey Phonsi my thoughts exactly. At the end of the day , we are all human and man is to error! A mistake we make as publics is to place people in the media in a pedestal expecting perfection from them !

I am so irritated that we think people expect us to be perfect in everyway. Truth is, people who are busy with their lives don't care that much, they are worried about their lives. Don't live your lives for people- live for yourself- people don't care about your life that much- not a priority- but you should care about yours- because you can only design, plan and work on yours, sure we will have some difficulties- that's part of the journey. But you decide what you want your life to look like and you work every day for what you want- every day- and step by step you will have successes. SO- pray for strength and endurance to work the plan, and to have the attitude of gratefulness that you are working for what you want.
