I think the best counter to Rufflet would be Clamperl. All of Rufflet's attacks are physical, so Clamperl's defense should take care of them while also dealing super effective damage via Aurora beam, especially now that you have thief to get the never melt ice. Guaranteed 2HKO
TRU i forgot that Clamperl puts Rufflet in the bin like that. I just always take Marill

Hoothoot can sweep Brendan, Gary and the bug trainer by itself with echoed voice it and Kricketune are big help in the early game

@@Whacko2 I did manage to win the fight(it was my 2nd attempt), but my marill, combusken, and furret were all dead so I took the hint and just reset. Currently I’m on a god tier run though, I got Galatians meowth, mightyena, keicketune, and phanpy as my encounters before Brock. And luckily, I didn’t get the 30% to reset and got the Psyduck, so I’m on a pretty good track with this one

@@Whacko2 Thanks! I would say my only bad encounter was my wonder egg, being slakoth(I’m allowed to hatch it in pewter museum and count it separately), but despite that I’m still utterly terrified of Faulkner lol
slakoth is actually VERY good if u make it to slaking. U can Slack Off on Truant turns for huge recovery
I literally love farming items like using caterpie’s ability to get items from wild encounters
Also increase my Pokemon’s Effect
Effort Values and searching for good Pokemon with neat IV’s
playing without perfect IVs can be so rewarding

I would never even attempt to nuzlocke this game because the AI just literally cheats lol I’m not going to try to outsmart a game that knows all of my stats and moves and items and what move I’m clicking and also has a built in calculator. Absolutely no way.
I’ve been in situations where if I click an attacking move and they protect, I lose. But if I don’t click an attacking move and they dont protect, I also lose. The thing about these situations is that they are literally impossible to win. Because the AI always picks their best moves based on the move you picked. So if I attack, they protect. If I don’t attack, they don’t protect. For this same reason, you can never predict a protect and set up on that turn. Because they just always know what move you click and they know the best move for them to click in response. It’s just ridiculous and why would I subject myself to that kind of torture. I already hate those scenarios when I’m not in a nuzlocke. No way am I going to force myself to endure them in a higher stakes game

Kricketune can fully sweep the first gym with neutrual natrue and miracle seed
TRU Krick is WILD early game. I just hate getting it because it has no use after Mt. Moon :(
@@Whacko2 u Can use it for brendan ss Anne it Can kill crawdawunt and you have a sack if you get mega unlucky
Plus it Can kill alakazam in surge gym, Think he’s called gentalman tucker. Not really needed in those cases but its Can Come as a sack. And you might be able to bait dugtrio with the right moveset
Have you tried greedent btw. I know its instead of psyduck, but rad red made me Fall in Love with that mon. Recycle, stuff cheeks counter toxic or what ever you want. Completely counters and physical hitters if you can set up
@@McJohanDK Dude there are so many Pokemon like Greedent that Rad Red Hardcore mode makes impossible to use because they ban set up. I wish i could grab a swords dance Greedie😭

My level cap is 15 in 3.1 but I said “No” to custom gameplay options wanting to play through as it was intended. Did I need to customize settings to get a lvl16 Pewter cap?
I play on custom settings i think, specifically the restricted mode settings! You're not the only person experiencing this, but my cap has always been 16!
@@Whacko2 Dang. It's extra challenging be stuck 1 level below many evolution thresholds each phase of early game. I can't figure out how to adjust it, but after 25 years of periodically playing different versions I suppose It's an interesting challenge.
In normal mode the cap is 15, hard mode is 16.
