People *love* drivel disguised as something artistic and eclectic. "V for Vendetta" is a big one, in my opinion. The story itself was exactly okay. Not terrible, not great, but just okay. The things that bugged me were the ham-fisted political messages they beat us all over the heads with; and how dumb people thought it was such a profound film. It wasn't, and you're not bright because you memorized the monologues. Pre-teen girls have all memorized encyclopedias worth of song lyrics over the years, and throughout the decades of popular entertainment. So don't rip your shoulder out of place, patting yourself on the back for something children end up doing by accident.
C.K is right. The premise is absurd; Astronaughts work in Low Earth Orbit, a few hundred miles from Earth's surface. Communication satellites are typically in geostationary orbit, which is about 22,000 miles from Earth. SO there is no way that a satellite would be anywhere near the same orbit as where astronauts are.
@@mistermatt157 Oh yeah, cause a monolith causing humanity to evolve and find another one on the moon so they can go to Jupiter to meet more monoliths and go through a time-space dissolving journey into a Space Baby, is not absurd at all.

I'm looking for an O&A clip with Louis CK where they talk about how cringy it is when people use nicknames for celebrities. I'd appreciate a link. I don't even remember who they talked about, but it was someone doing this kind of stuff: - I saw this or that movie movie with Robert Deniro, and... - Yeah that's the thing about Bobby (aka "I know him")
I agree with his take, but you will feel yourself spin, even in space. Centrifugal force is different from gravity. Though closing the eyes would help with disorientation.
Gravity was one of those movies you only need to watch once. I actually rolled my eyes at the profound “symbolism” they were going for with the astronaut and cord rotating like a fetus in the womb
That reminds me of how I felt about "V for Vendetta". If you're going to set a movie in the real world, you should make it somewhat resemble reality; rather than a bunch of talking points from a spoiled humanities major.
I dont Think its supposed to be profound, its just good symbolism, she goes from an adult to basically a childlike state and it ends with her finally able to walk again, pretty basic, not everything in a movie is trying to be 2smart4u
@@MegamaXX500 Was talking about the nonsense of the Eeeeeevile hu'white Englishmen who were oppressing the poor gays, and Muslims. Because those are two groups that have a lot in common.
Haha this is really great. The best part of the whole film was the trailer where you see what's going on with the guy in the arctic who doesn't speak a word of English, sitting there with his family and dog sleigh team, and that bit wasn't even in the movie! (You just hear it from...what's-her-name's..can't remember her name...point of view, in space, for a few seconds).
Could you imagine just spinning away from the spacecraft into nothingness? My God that would just be terrifying as you'd eventually run out of oxygen and your body would just explode I think.
A therapist I met basically had the same hilarious criticisms (maybe listened to this/a big fan too?) but her main pet peeve she couldn’t let go of was something to do with Sandra Bullock’s pupils: when humans are scared they expand or something or maybe it’s the other way around? Anyways she’s supposed to be TERRIFIED and her pupils show the opposite which ruined it for her lol. I guess she works with people with anxiety, panic attacks, etc. and this helps her assess if she’s pushing people too far and in other ways and she said even though she knows it’s acting, she felt like it was half-assed. Made me wonder if a bunch of medical staff noticed this and walked out XD

It's geek-talk, yeah. :) But I'd bet there could've been just as effective (or more effective) of a story and experience etc, if the filmmakers had been more clever with the physics & realism, y'know?
It's not suppose to be Star Wars. Those motherfuckers went all the way to nasa for research to get the suit right and some sense of the spaceship aesthetic but they couldn't pick up a 6 grader physics book?
The difference between truth and fiction is that fiction has to be believable. Sci-fi as a genre often has weak storytelling because of the fantastical bullshit required to fit the definition.

Best Gravity review ever
Gravity is was corny as fuck. And the worst of it was George Clooney playing George Clooney.
And Sandra Bullock playing Sandra Bullock
Chris he's ALWAYS George Clooney. Dudes a character actor like Sam Jackson, Morgan Freeman or Dinero.
"Lucy in space"
lol
That was amazing
Matt Gaffney there's no such thing as a reluctant astronaut.
