50% of the jobs advertised are not real so what difference does it make if you have a degree or not. Companies are just looking to see what’s available in the candidate pool and then decide if they want to look overseas for their talent. Overseas candidates will work for lower salaries and often are highly educated. It’s a scam. Just look at who’s bringing you this information. Do you think Bloomberg would hire someone without a degree to report on this supposed trend? I don’t!
From Canada, uni is just a cash cow and designed to make you a debt slave. Most Americans think Canadian uni's tuition is cheap. The reality is it is more expensive than US college if you factor in the wage you will get (after tax too).
I worked for an automotive parts company for 6.5 years and hr told me straight up it doesn’t matter what type of associates or bachelors degree you have. They just want a piece of paper stating you attending school and that you were able to show up and commit to it. They hire literally anyone to fill all leadership positions and up, yes the turn over rate was over 70% within 90 days. Now the new company I work for not only pays more but doesn’t require a degree until you enter management or engineering.
A mean two faced nurse I use to work out complaining about her college debt, I never talked to her only work related with patients and she tell me off like I knew everything she did I would tell her off saying well I wouldn’t ask you these questions if I didn’t know them already, anyways glad I’m not with her, funny thing we had the same last name, she tell people NO RELATION so bluntly, I giggle cause that irritated her, I had a massive panic attack at work , she was trying to calm me down I was in a different zone, I was taken to the hospital, when I came back she was like whatever, she wanted the government to pay off her debt thinking it’s not fair, I rolled my eyes not in front of her, I’m glad I’m not working with a person like her, and that she’s not alone miserable in her career very two faced, and the end of the day we all are accountable if we owe money great if you pay it and get government assistance, but I don’t have a degree or extra schooling other than a diploma and so many people are upset about having a degree and not getting the pay they think they are worth.
The devaluing of degrees is going to make every job impossible to get. That’s the reason they had degree requirements in the first place. It is the easiest indicator to sort out applicants. That’s all it’s ever been used for. There are no corporations that will trust a high school graduate without immense experience and credibility first.
@ @LaborGains I don’t think they’ll become meaningless, they just won’t mean enough. I think we’re seeing a tightening in the labor market toward increasingly technical and specialized roles. Likely, people with degrees will have to focus more on their own NIL and specialization in applying for roles, or score an apprentice/internship as proving grounds. I also think we’ll see a preference toward social sciences and soft skills. Too many devs and engineers lack those soft skills and if we’re talking about tech specifically, I agree that a degree is not enough and you must be a systems thinker and a good presenter and propagandizer. Currently a UX Research Manager. This is what I think about when hiring people. Lots of engineers think their tech stack is more impressive than their ability to talk about the bottom line and product KPIs and strategy, but it’s not.
America works In cycles. They do this all the time. I remember not too long ago when thousands of people got kicked out of their jobs for roles they’ve been in for years because they didn’t have a degree. EXPERIENCE is king but let those jobs pay for your degree. That’s the best way to do it 💪🏿

Yeah that’s why almost a quarter of the doctors in this country are Indians. Cheaper just to have them delivered.
They are going to shut that down and say it's national security issue hiring people from China, Russia.
Excellent points. You're right
most college/universities in america are for profit. some of these colleges/universities need to go under!

Not only in America. Globally as well.
@@freecryptos most universities in europe are free...the ones that is state universities anyway
@@vincentnnyc The UK ones are VERY expensive
Many for profit colleges are not worth what you pay for them. Thank you for the comment
Wish there was an option to return my BA degree for a full refund. No point in even trying to get a Masters… 😢
@@P.90.603 companys wont even pay extra hours let alone a Masters these days
Or at least change it for another degree 😂
Don't blame you. No amount of schooling or certifications seem to be helpful.
Ivy League schools are starting to lose prestige.
My employers seem to like that I have an ivy league degree. You do you though.
Makes sense.
I thought this was a Vsauce video for a sec because of the thumbnail
Sorry to disappoint!
They want you to “ hit the ground running “.
they want a "motivated self-starter" for bottom level pay with managerial duties 🤡🤹🏻♀🎪
True. Even if you hit the ground face first.

That is interesting! Thanks for sharing.

Oh wow. Sorry you had go to through that. Thanks for sharing. Good luck out there.
A.I killed the degree
I don’t know how the college industrial complex will survive.
It won't
😂
Will survive as long as there are a lot of idiots in this planet.
I don't either

Good point. So once degrees become completely meaningless then how do we stand out to get the jobs?

Hard to find a job that pays anything over $20/hr even for mechanical engineers. Colleges are a bloody scam. I regret it all!
Thank you for the comment.
Well this is hilarious 😂 as soon as I get my AA jobs require a BA/BS, now I'm getting my BS and jobs don't care for them!!
Sorry to hear that!
Give us a tour of your new country
Too loud! Maybe the next one
Dmn shame.
