Thank you so much for this Natalie! I have a lot of trouble with the height of my jumps especially in assemble but this definitely helped with understanding the move.

Assemble does not move. It should be done on the spot. It only moves in grand assemble (excuse the lack of accents).

I haven't heard that it needs to be referred to as 'grand', for example I think you can have an 'assemblé en avant' without it having to be 'grand'. That's what I've understood from my training, but with everything in ballet, there are small differences between different schools/ countries etc :)

You should improve arm coordination in your glissade. Usually you have your arms in 1st position at the high point of the glissade. Also, glissade should not be referred to as a jump but as a linking step preceding a jump. For this reason i do believe that you should not jump in the glissade. Instead your feet should not leave the floor, but they still show the fully stretched toes in 2nd position (as if you were en pointe) in a sliding and lilting movement. This is what i was thought.

From my understanding there are two types of glissade. The one you are referring to is commonly used in adage, port de bras etc and I know that the RAD uses that type of glissade a lot. The toes should literally skim the floor and its not a jump. This glissade I am talking about in this video, however, is specifically used in petit allegro and sometimes as a linking step in grand allegro and is a jump where both feet should be off the ground at the same time and the arms I teach here are exactly as I was taught in the Spanish conservatoire. Each school has their own way of defining the steps so I'm sharing the ways I have been taught :)

@@NatalieDanzaBallet yeah i definitely agree with you that different schools teach how to do certain steps differently :) and that is totally okay! I respect your way ♡ thank you for sharing!
