When I first started watching your videos I thought. "Awe man an artic adventure would be awesome." But now that I'm up here working I'm still thinking "awe man an artic adventure is awesome."
Twin hull. Used in offshore waters by professional abalone divers etc here in Victoria. My stepson, fireman, natural bodybuilder, degree in sport and exercise science has done a course with the ice man here in Australia. He has a high regard for the ice man's ability to control his body and continues to use some of his techniques. At the same time, like most of us, he is not without his faults.
The video on Arguably does cover all this - the power of confirmation bias, charismatic sales, and cherry-picked science. I'm unaware if Hof has been able to 'switch off' his super powers and allow scientists to observe his body behave more normally...
Admire your continued efforts to do whatever you can yourself. Keep it up!!!! It doesn't get easier, but you learn something almost every time! Cheers!
Ah, I've been eagerly anticipating the heater installation. I'm about to install a Dickinson boat heater in a small cabin I've built. Though my requirements are far short of what's required for the arctic I've no doubt your observations on the install will give me some clues to improve my own.
This is really cool. I really like that you could have gone the easy route, but challenged yourself to make it just how you wanted it. As well as it being cheap. Nice work.
Tig welding is surprisingly easy with practice, and obviously, knowledge you can pick this up from any friendly welder. You should buy one. I did 6 years as a mechanical fitter mig welding every day. The welders at my workplace just told me to try it, showed me the basics, and then all of a sudden, their workload shrank, and mine grew. I'm already planning my purchase of a tig setup and the purchase of stainless tube to remake my exhaust. (I expect it to be as bad as Alan's) I'll know for sure my end of this week.
I've been spending the week trying to fiberglass my dad's latest bad decision- I mean truck- back to road worthiness, so I can commiserate. Anyway, I'm curious as to how you dissolved the polystyrene core without whatever you used attacking the resin as well?
The paint can handle 120degC continuous, which given environmental cooling, very little conducted heat from the steel lining, and the lagging, I think we should be ok.

Not the ones already published I'm afraid. Not unless you and fellow TH-cam members of Alan's army combine to give sales a giant boost! Then a publisher might invest in covering audiobook costs retrospectively...
A backup diesel heater seems a great idea, however surely an internal heat exchanger to which you can divert engine coolant is the most efficient heat you’ll get?
It'll be the primary heater as Alan will be stationary with engine off for prolonged periods. There will also be a selection of smaller portable 2kW diesel burners. Lots of people are keen on an exhaust heater exchanger. I'm considering a detachable system to wrap around the upper part of the exhaust.
@@AlexHibbertOriginals while sitting for long periods, yes absolutely! Although when the boat is under power it seems crazy to dump heat from coolant (90 degrees ish) overboard. In my experience of an old vw beetle exhaust heat exchangers are a risk not worth taking. A simple system comprising of an aluminium radiator and a few valves/pipe work could easily divert coolant from the primary system to vent heat to the cabin and provide redundancy if the primary system was compromised! While I’ve got your attention I’ve recently fitted a recoheat system to my wood stove with such incredible results I cannot put into words. I can only recommend a bit of research into compatibility with your diesel stove. It’s incredible. Good luck Alex, your endeavours are thoroughly entertaining and appreciated
Thanks for the tip on the Recoheat things - I actually had a similar DIY plan but dry, without a pump. Recovering some heat from the exhaust - an idea certainly in my mind, swirling around.
Amazing intro but i'm not so sure you were fully qualified, i see a lack in PPE too. 🤣 The H is looking fine, i can imagine the gargantuan amount of work put into it. I was expecting it painted black but one uses the paint at disposal
“All the spare time I do not have, I’ll make my own” sounds familiar. Keep up the great work
The intro is top notch. Once again! This will be a great episode

Arguably one of the best Blue Peter standard sawn-off Tridents that I have ever seen 👍
The finished H looks hot

The brevity was devastating...I can't tell a lie. Making that pipe was enough for me to make this comment and a like for the you tube god's thought...
Impressive result
Commenting for the algo of rhythm. That is looks very well done but I'll be 'biting my nails' when you stat drilling into Alan's hull.
ALAN!!
I hope you show how you dissolve the foam score of it.
I certainly will
Alan!!!
AMAZINGNES!!!

Will gasoline affect the resin? I know it eats up styrofoam but hadn't thought about what it might do to the fiberglass laminate.
That chimney looks great, is that orange paint going to last though? With all the heat from the exhaust and stuff

Do you know how Wim Hof got that belly scar? It's hilarious.
Most likely less hilarious for the surgeons desperately trying to sew up his intestines and save his life.

No more will your green sea
Go turn a deeper blue.
... and can make a YT-video about it . . .
Stick to the DIY , please !
👍🏽😉🖖🏼
Well, it was cheap if nothing else. 🤷♂ Well worth the days and days toiling over a hot stove... sorry cold stove. 👍👍
Alan is a man, now. Lol.
When do you shove-off for America?
Norway early next summer
