I’ve shot hundred of rounds through my M&P Plus. I’m way to cheap to shoot hundred or rifle rounds, hence my “rifle” is a Ruger PCC. I’ve shot hundred of rounds through it as well. What I’ve discovered is that, with the pistol, I’m going to be able to place 15 rounds into a 3”-4” grouping at 10 yards and that it. The PCC is about 2” at 10 yards. At 71, shooting freestanding and without support, that’s about as good as it’s going to get. And I’m zoo with that. Should I need to engage someone, I’m going to win cuz my shots aren’t going to go everywhere. I am absolutely confident that adrenaline is going to disable my muscle memory.
Its so hard to get familiar with your strength and weaknesses with your firearm, especially with handguns, just because of cost of ammo. I have a springfield XDM Elite chambered in 10mm, and im trying to get familiar with it, but its hard to get familiar with it because 10mm is about 50 cents per bullet.
Of you’ll get out there and send enough round down range, you discover that you just aren’t that good of a shot. Then you’ll bloom your scope, rifle and ammo cuz you just know you’re that good.
Good place to start is loading Hornady for starters . Had a bastard rifle 3 to 6 in groups at 100 yards. Hand loading and went to one inch group at 300yrds . Not all rifles and pistols like factory ammo
I would like to add/point out you have to have a way of know what is good or bad in your practice/training. I can do pulls all year and still suck at pull ups because I've been doing it wrong the whole time and no one corrected me.
I shot my rifle once at 100 yards and I'm now convinced I'm capable of extreme long range greatness!

"I am as good as I thought I was."
I actually hit the cardboard, almost hit the target. Feelin' good!
It all boils down to practice, practice, practice. No matter what you're trying to be good at.

The rule of a thousand, do it a thousand times or put a thousand hours into it
