  • Oban distillery is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, having been established in 1794. Additionally, it is especially unusual for being one of the last surviving urban distilleries. Oban distillery is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, having been established in 1794. Additionally, it is especially unusual for being one of the last surviving urban distilleries. The distillery was founded by two brothers, John and Hugh Stevenson, who were from Oban themselves. The distillery was founded on the site of an old brewery. The distillery has been incredibly influential on the town itself, as it was a major source of industry.
We were allowed to visit the Oban Distillery and got exciting insights that we don't want to withhold from you.

I visited this distillery back in April. Oban is a great whisky. I am surprised the master distiller did not sit down with Ben and go through the whiskies.

Fruity character doesn't come from long fermentation but from yeast strain and fermentation temperature.

The tour guide guy didn't seem to know jack shit about the whisky. I wonder why they released a 10 year. Must be running low on older stock.

Don't know what more you could have wanted him to say. He gave a really good talk on each whisky and the flavours and the distilling process and oban

@@alexandrad0722 I'll say this. If you know you know... clearly Ryan has also been around long enough to "know"
Watch any other distillery tour manager interview and you will know what we mean

@@marcdedecker3400 I'm sure there is a difference to what a distillery manager would be able to say about it. However, given that he's a lead guide and not a manage I don't think you could have asked for more from him
