      the degradation of our martial art is the fault of spanish colonizers, who knows really what filipino martial artists knew then when the spanish did everything to even tried to assimilate our semi Srivijayan & pacific islander culture because the spanish knew then that even only with a baranggay of our ancestors we can defeat the conquistadors w/ guns & armor who conquered the Mayans & other empires of america. in w/c they need to force pigaffeta thier historian to state that the spanish refuse the help of raja humabon & fought lapu-lapu's tribe with only 50 men in w/c the way the conquistadors conquer empires is by recruiting smaller tribes to join them to even the numbers & then use their more advance weapons... after watching a documentary about the conquistadors it became clear of how much more of an excuse pigaffeta's journal is, that they were outnumbered unable to use their canons & of why Magellan died for the spaniards feared anything at all that could make us stand tall...

    Panantukan is the Filipino Art of Boxing…Sometimes referred to as dirty boxing. Panantukan is the boxing component of Filipino martial arts, and is known in the Visayas as Pangamot. It consists of upper-body striking techniques such as punches, elbows, Headbutts and shoulder strikes. It also includes low-line kicks and knee strikes to the legs, shins, and groin, but some schools group this kicking aspect into the art of Pananjakman, which relies on kicking and only uses the arms defensively. Some Western instructors teach panantukan as a separate martial art, but in the Philippines it is accepted as a part of Eskrima.
    Panantukan is not a sport, but rather a street-oriented fighting system. The techniques have not been adapted for safety or conformance to a set of rules for competition, thus it has a reputation as “dirty street fighting”. Common targets include the biceps, triceps, eyes, nose, jaws, temples, groin, ribs, spine, and the back of the neck. In the 1800’s boxers like John Sullivan were boxing with arms extended and wide stances, when the Americans went over to the Philippines they witnessed a whole new way of boxing, which came from knife fighting. You cannot stand with arms extended with a knife; everything was close in, small movements, lots of footwork and body mechanic’s. Silat is from Indonesia, and part of the Philippines. It is a fast, brutal and off balances the opponent for devastating take downs.

    I have done many years of western boxing I know from my own experience it takes many years to muster blocking jab and cross it is so basic yet hard to block to block first you need to see the punch by the time you figured out the angle it is coming it is too late so teach us something that works.

      Pencak Silat and Kali are two different styles from two different countries Indonesia and the Philippines respectively. They're kinda similar though, and the style from the video is pretty similar to Kali but it's more of its own thing panuntukan is like dirty boxing.

      but from my point of view those are the same martial art but have diffrent name and style....since filiphine is so close to malaysia brunei and indonesia,they share the same culture and art. specially guro dan inosato also learned pencak silat sera at bukti negara and I heard that he ever learn pencak silat from herman suwanda and some guru from malaysia as well. but yes filiphinos have their own style of martial arts and those are great. btw very nice video and put alot of respect. salam

    I think panatukan is overrated ,you have to pull this moves off on a resistend oppenent who is fighting back now thats difficult,but fma is an interesting art with good and solid techniques,thanks for the vid and nice demo.

      if you crosstrain in western boxing, which you should because panantukan has alot of it, you would be able to be hold your own in a fight because you could rely on your boxing. but you would rarely have time to pull off all this trapping stuff

      It's true but this king of art , boxing is the foundation so it's not that bad. it's applicable street wise since this is only a small percentage of people that are boxer as profession.

    • @ЕвгенийКрылов-и1п
      @ЕвгенийКрылов-и1п 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are talking nonsense. On the street, athletes fight athletes more often than not. But a good sport is much more effective than that. It's a bad sport and the Filipinos themselves have turned martial arts into this bad sport. They want money above all, not the development of their martial arts. In the end we have this kind of circus.

    The problem with this is how is an older man going to do this? How is a woman going to pull this off on a man twice her size? How is this self defense? I call B.S. because this REQUIRES the practitioner to be YOUNG, ATHLETIC, and a MALE. Sorry ladies this is discrimination at its best. Show a demo with a woman 120 pound using these techniques on a man 230 pounds and see what we get. Hell a body guard type of dude 6 foot 6 height and 280 pounds will likely smile and look you dead in your eye after you hit him. Why are only small dudes doing this? You demoed that this works on guys around YOUR weight class! Go four weight classes up and this is useless.

    • @baldieman64
      @baldieman64 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Time for a reality check:
      Regardless of skills, someone who is "YOUNG, ATHLETIC, and a MALE" is more likely to win a fight than someone who isn't, just as , someone who is big and strong is more likely to win a fight than someone who isn't.
      Martial arts training can significantly increase your chances in a confrontation - physically, in terms of overcoming your fears and by changing the way that you carry yourself so that you don't trigger predatory behaviours but its not magic.
      If you want something that will let you overcome someone bigger, stronger, younger and fitter, get a gun.
