There are 2 main advice I can give you. First, try creating better work samples that you can include with your proposal to potential clients, and target clients who are looking for a beginner. Second, learn about cold outreach and start putting some effort into that. Clients on Upwork will first look at your proposal that you send to them, then they will look at your Upwork profile, so try to improve them every day. You can also request a testimonial from external clients and when they give you the testimonial Upwork will verify the testimonial by checking the person's LinkedIn profile, if they approve it you will have past clients testimonial on your Upwork profile even if you never worked on Upwork.
