There have been non elite goalies that have their name on the cup, it comes down to team play, not relying on a few players & power plays. A great goalie is a difference maker, but they can be beaten as well(jist ask the Rags).

Also, I would take Carolina, better system and again better team defense. I think a series between Boston and Edmonton would be a lot of fun and a very close series, but I'd still give the edge to Boston. So three teams there. I'm a Pennsylvania boy though, so I'll admit that I always think the East is tougher, but this year I think that it is actually very true. Edmonton is so soft defensively, average goalie who might end up being a career back-up, their main stars have completely disappeared against Florida, Draisaitl especially has been horrendous...Not impressed with this Edmonton side, sorry.

Rangers were lucky to get past the Canes, so I think there's a good chance that Carolina takes Edmonton, but I also think Carolina likely takes the Panthers to 6 or 7 as well. Although they were the best regular season team, the Rangers were lucky to even be in the conference finals, and even though they managed to win 2 games, it was entirely thanks to Shesterkin. Not a fan of hypotheticals, but the Oilers with Shesterkin would be a scary team. Bob has been basically lights out against Edmonton, and has the highest sv% in SCF history right now. It's not much of a question of offense, the goaltending has just been incredible for the Panthers.
I know the 3-0 makes the Oilers look pretty bad, but they're a good team that can compete with anyone, and I'd say they deserved more favourable results in games 1 and 3. Florida just seems unstoppable right now, this is their year.

@jimbosmith6327 In a 7 game series vs. this Edmonton team: I would take the Rangers, they have Shesterkin and play better team defense. Also, I would take Carolina, better system and again better team defense. I think a series between Boston and Edmonton would be a lot of fun and a very close series, but I'd still give the edge to Boston. So three teams there. I'm a Pennsylvania boy though, so I'll admit that I always think the East is tougher, but this year I think that it is actually very true. Edmonton is so soft defensively, average goalie who might end up being a career back-up, their main stars have completely disappeared against Florida, Draisaitl especially has been horrendous...Not impressed with this Edmonton side, sorry.
@@japcar84 I think that Edmonton beats Rangers and Boston in these playoffs. Rangers were lucky to get past the Canes, so I think there's a good chance that Carolina takes Edmonton, but I also think Carolina likely takes the Panthers to 6 or 7 as well. Although they were the best regular season team, the Rangers were lucky to even be in the conference finals, and even though they managed to win 2 games, it was entirely thanks to Shesterkin. Not a fan of hypotheticals, but the Oilers with Shesterkin would be a scary team. Bob has been basically lights out against Edmonton, and has the highest sv% in SCF history right now. It's not much of a question of offense, the goaltending has just been incredible for the Panthers.
I know the 3-0 makes the Oilers look pretty bad, but they're a good team that can compete with anyone, and I'd say they deserved more favourable results in games 1 and 3. Florida just seems unstoppable right now, this is their year.
I think we forget that this team was the 2nd worst in the league a couple weeks into the season and weren't even supposed to make the playoffs. Yet here we are, stanley cup finals.

You could see how painful this one was though. Losing one at home is so significant. The messaging around home arena advantage puts a lot of pressure to recover those initial two games from SoFlo. The split can feel like the first nail in the coffin. He's so talented, but I think this is our year, really built on the embers of last season's pounding we took.

yes, it has to be Pickard next game. We all like Skinner, but he is no where near the same level as Bobrovsky. But Oilers didn't get a top goalie, so we have no choice. I thought it would be Pickard this game, but they believe in Skinner. Which is baffling as they sit there watching one of the best goalies of all time making save after save. What the f*ck else do they need to know? Get a top stanley cup goalie. It is painful watching this team be the best they have ever been and only missing that goalie.....
