"Empathy, not jealousy"... Much respect man. I'm glad at least some of us paid attention to the moral of the story at the end of the cartoon back in the 80's.
I picked up Battle Cat the other day. It felt...emotional. On the next aisle over you had Star Wars and Ghostbusters on retro cards, and a bunch of classic Transformers in retro packaging. Buying that Battle Cat made me feel like a kid again. It was really something. I'll keep my eye out for this new series. The new Battle Cat is fantastic and convinced me to collect the Origins figures.
Thanks for the video Michael. I picked up Battlecat, He-Man and Skeletor this afternoon at a Target location near me. I am so very happy that this line has been released. I grew up with MOTU and literally had every single figure and playset...no exaggeration. I really did have every single one. Years went on and my interests changed. Who knows what happened to them. But, I never forgot how much I loved these toys. There would be no way (at least for me) to obtain the original characters due to the hefty vintage toy prices nowadays. But to be able to buy new MOTU toys that to my eyes look like what I used to have (and even better without those rubber band legs and better articulation) is a dream come true. These are more than good enough for me! So here I go again. I will rebuild my collection again with this Origins line. And I will be opening every single one of them....because life is just too short!
Nice review Michael! One thing I wasn't sure if you knew on these, but the origins line is just like Masters Of The WWE. Not only is the head removable, but the arms and hands are as well. So you can really customize and interchange parts there between all the characters in MOTU Origins and WWE. Also, the characters split at the torso, like vintage King Hsss. Just wanted to share that in case you weren't aware. Look forward to the next reviews for Origins! :) Jeff
I ordered this on Amazon, as 25 year old who wants to get into MOTU but have it a bit modernized yet Classic I’m more than happy to get these! Also one thing I’d love to see Mattel do is original characters for both today’s kids and older fans! Here’s hoping Rio Blast is in the next wave!
Oh and let me add Mr Michael your reviews are the best your voice is so calming and welcoming even if I don’t know the toy line I still listen because you do such a great job! 👍🏾
Adam Harris Still stupid. That’s 6 months. And in 2021 will all the figures be online or just the new ones? Mattel is so far in the red this year and this decision shows why.
Popperteen Boi I’ve been to two of them twice and nothing. I’ll wait until they shop up online or just skip this line. I have so many lines I do collect that are easier to get anyhow but I love MOTU so it stinks.
@@jamievaughn1485 yeah I hear ya. My local Walmart's never even got these in stock. You can sign up for email alerts for when they get new online stock. Glad to hear these are getting wider distribution in the future. I'll wait if I have to. Not paying over retail for these figures. Id rather pay 800 bucks for an orginal still in package
Mattel please keep sending Michael more toys. I was hesitant to get this version of He-Man, but 17:34 sold me! Amazing I want them all!! Hopefully Canada gets these...
I have been collecting toys since the 70's but never brought any He-Man toys. I wonder if this Origins line is the one i should get into. Also been looking at the Zolo World figures which look really good.
Keep up the good work, man. I'm a fan of the videos you've been putting out the last few years I've been watching. I had checked out the inventory for my local Wal-Mart and the Battle Cat and Skysled were in stock. In realty, there was tumbleweed rolling down the aisle.
Michael we love you you're great don't stop doing what you're doing but I just want to say one thing, you do know that the figure is completely interchangeable the boots can come off the hands can come off the arms can come off the head can come off he can separate at the waist he's completely interchangeable with the rest of the origins line, I was watching the video just waiting for you to figure out that he can come apart but it just never happened so I wanted to let you know that he can and in all of those places I previously mentioned, so I just wanted to let you know and have a nice rest of your day
I have a huge collection of the original He-man with original instructions, comics, and all the castles. This was my personal collection as a kid. Do you know where I can sell it other than eBay?
Got He-Man, Skeletor, and Battle Cat earlier this weekend. They are great, hoping they do weapons packs or some offering with alternate parts. 100% agree with the mentality of "bills come first", any of my or my wife's collecting purchases come after. Can't wait to see what Mattel has in store for this line if it continues beyond wave 2, and loved the video as always, man.
Picked up mine at my local Walmart. Love it! Definitely going to pick up the rest of MOTU Origins Wave 1 eventually. It's nice to see new versions of the big three 80's toy lines (Transformers, He-Man, and GI Joe) on toy shelves again for new generations (including myself) to enjoy.
I can't wait to collect these but apparently won't see them until next year in the UK. That's awesome that Mattel contacted you! How cool is that! Awesome review!
I'm looking forward to these being released in my part of the world. My understanding these are aimed for kids not collectors as they were announced as a retail line. I brought a few of the Super7 vintage figures for my kids. Feel bad though as I opened them cause I wanted to get that feeling of opening a MOTU package as I hadn't done it since the mid 80's. Can let the kids have the joy with these ones.
Wow congratulations on the MATTEL nod! Well deserved! Michael thank you for all you intense work you put into your videos. See you in the next one buddy 😀😀
Great review man. I like how you said you were being more choosy with what you collect these days. Lol. I wish I could learn that. I love MOTU classics and Super 7 filmation run but something about this series is so so much fun. Which is what kicks the nostalgia into overdrive for me. I love the thoroughness of the review. Skeletor is the standout of the wave thus far. Battle Cat is on the way. Very impressed with these. My big gripe is the half sword bs. I know it's vintage but ugh how I hate it. At least I can use the sword that came with the SDCC 2 pack set. Looking forward to the rest of the reviews. Hope you pick up the rest of the line.
Michael, Mattel could have not giving this kind gift to a better person my friend! 👍 Love your videos and I got excited just watching you be excited about these new Heman toys! Awesome😁👍
There's a whole bunch of these at my local Walmart. I might pick up He-Man and Skeletor, I didn't grow up in the 80's so I obviously never had the original figures.
Awesome review, Michael. I've got a Skeletor, a Scare Glow Skeletor and two He-Mans (one to keep carded) on pre-order. Looks like Mattel have done a good job with these.
The original He-Man's facial expression always looked to me like he had recently witnessed a particularly painful oral surgery. That or he had just seen Ram-man suffering a devastating groin pull. By the power of Greyskull, that looked like it hurt he seemed to be thinking.
I couldn't place the face of the Origins He-Man up until now. It looks like that early prototype of He-Man with the helmet, battle ax, and fur clothing.
I picked up He-Man and Skeletor at Walmart just a couple days back. I didn't even know Mattel was making these. They look great and I can't complain about the price point.
The idea of He-Man receiving one half of the Power Sword while Skeletor receiving the other half of the sword reminds me of Darkstar cartoon concept where the protagonist has one half of the sword while antagonist has the other half of the sword, that can be combined.
Cool stuff. He looks like the original which were pretty neat. I was never really into the toys, but loved the cartoon series. If I can find these in wild, I may decide to pick some up..just wish they didn't have to be exclusives.. Outstanding review Mr Mercy!!!! By the Power of NERDMASTE'!!!!!

Good luck to anyone trying to get these figures. Not a single Wal Mart in my area had them. Empty pegs all around. Reminds of the fiasco of the re release of Real Ghostbusters recently.
Wow what an amazing job I will be getting them all I do have them all out af the bubble BUT do want them what a nice gesture from Mattel I like they send you the series you are very lucky
Don’t know if anyone mentioned it already but you can take his torso part off from his waist (In which lets his chest piece come off easy)...these Origins figures are extremely customizable!!!!❤️

Looking forward to when these figures show up in the UK - and I'm really looking forward to your Battle Cat review, yes? Also, if anyone is looking for an extra He-Man fix, I can highly recommend the comics that DC have been doing recently, especially their latest He-Man and the Masters of the Multi-Verse mini-series, as well as the two He-Man/Thundercats and He-Man/Injustice crossover series to boot - man, imagine if He-Man and Skeletor and/or Lion-O and Mumm-Ra showed up in the next iteration of the Injustice games...the TMNT are already there, after all, so why not, yes...?!
Yeah really like the look of this figure 👌Would of preferred a full power sword but that's just a small niggle in an otherwise nice homage to the vintage figure. Looking forward to the Battle Cat review Michael! Have a good day and an even better one tomorrow good brother 👍
Part of me wants to buy two of these. One to be He-Man, and another to customize into Conan the Barbarian. Remove the harness, paint the hair black, and it would be an awesome Conan.

Just got back from searching through 6 Walmart's in the Hudson County area of New Jersey, and struck out. So this video was a terrific pick me up!
Yep. Sane here in northern Utah. Not a single store has them right now. I swear the employees are hoarding them to sell on Ebay.

They're a great affordable alternative to the vintage ones. Look a lot like the originals but have more articulation and are in mint condition. 😊
As far as I'm aware, these figures pop apart at several points including the neck, waist, shoulders, boots etc.

Chris Bailey yeah, haven’t had a he man since 85, tempted to get one
My favorite line is the MOTU Club Grayskull figures because they look identical to the Filmation cartoon. Would be awesome to see a video on those.

One of the other neat features is that you can mix and match parts from other Origins and WWE figures.
At 17:20 the original He-man looks on in envy. At 17:50 he breathes a sigh of relief at having limited articulation.
