Making Muck and Adding Moss to a Wall

  • Curator Aarin Packard and volunteer Anne are making a muck with fine akadama, fine potting soil, and ground sphagnum moss that they will apply to a bonsai pot and top dress with shredded, dry mosses.
    They are working on the Pacific Douglas Fir bonsai created in 2020 as a part of our LAB Project. Bonsai styling by Ryan Neil, ceramic container by Ron Lang, and bonsai stand (not shown in this video) by Austin Heitzman.

    Around my parts id probably go out into the bush and find some swampy muck in the bogs
