Dear Mr Salvo. I have been away from your channel a bit too long, but my excuse is the best ever one aka female effect... the most powerful force in known universe:)
@@timothysassanella272 Unforgettabe Fire was for me too agreat one especially the title song as it is powerful as f... Achtung Baby kinda was off to me but and I almost fofget the whole band untill 1993, I think or 1994, my friend played Zooropa album for me and one song just jumped to ears and that was 'Lemon'. It was a bit weird album in sense, but I thought this song 'Lemon' was a masterpiece and it hit me 'cos the lyrics were exactly what I was experiencing at the time.
U2 at Live Aid - Bad, in particular, is astonishing. They were 24, full of blood, and they nailed it. A hugely touching performance. Bono was incredible.
U2 has consistently the biggest rock band in the world for 37 years. Others have had their moments of being bigger and for a short period of time, but U2 keeps going. Just sold out 750,000 for 40 shows in Vegas
The "Edge" on guitar, is famous for his use of the "delay" pedal. (Strumming once, and it echoes the strum 3-4 times at a tempo you dial in) . By adding a little reverb it becomes very ethereal, and majestic. The effect coming into it's age, just as U2 were getting their feet on the world stage, it revolutionized their sound and took them from a popularity level of 2.5 to 9 (out of ten) in just the span of one or two singles released from this album.
🎉🎉🎉You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! Chris Martin lead singer/frontman of Coldplay says the band is heavily influenced by U2 and the Beatles. You are absolutely correct. Great reaction. 🎉🎉🎉
😂Even people without radios in Third World 🌎 know this song......welcome to the club. You will get so much amazing music as you discover U2 and we get to watch😊
Haha! That smile, as each new element slotted perfectly into place in the mix....I know that smile. When you open the dictionary to Masterpiece this song starts playing.
Thank you for your reaction to the Joshua Tree album on Patreon this week. U2 was one of the groups I followed hard, from Joshua Tree through to the How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb album. I loved watching them make this perfect album, then explore all kinds of music, then come back... I haven't listened to them much in the last 10-15 years. Your reaction woke up my interest, and I've been playing their catalog, and loving it again. Thank you!
I recently listened to Achtung Baby kindergarten version. It is like discovering a whole new album. You should check it out if you haven’t yet. Brought back a flood of great memories for me.
One of the BEST Songs on the Joshua Tree album that is grossly underrated is ONE TREE HILL - if you want to hear Bono at his most Gut Wrenching, THAT is the Song!
He, Bono came out with a book in the last couple of years or so and in it he talks about a lot of the songs and what they mean... heard it's good. Like the slow start to the song and then how it picks up later 👍 Like that more in songs then movies. But have watch a few movies with slow beginnings all the way through.
U2 in there prime were lethal they were unbelievable from the 1980s to the earlys 2010s they were untouchable. obviously there way older now but can still hold there own which is crazy considering there all in there 60s Now .
Phonetically, t's 'BAHN-oh'@@SalvoG Bon Voyage can be pronounced as either 'bahn' or almost 'bone' (the second is more correct) so not sure that's the best explanation. It means bonaox which is Latin for 'good voice'.
I was in no way trying to shame or anything. He seemed confused about how to pronounce, and that's the easiest way I could explain. If you're not raised in the generation of U2, you wouldn't be sure. That's all.
I know you were trying to help. I was too. The 'bon' in 'bon voyage' is pronounced almost like 'bone' which would be wrong for Bono. Some Americans may say 'bawn voy-awj' but most people I've ever heard say it say it like 'bone voy-awj' so I think it's a confusing way to explain how Bono is pronounce. The best way to explain how something is pronounced is phonetically. In this case, that would be 'BAWN-oh' :)@@michellestewart-1
A song is not a mathemathical sceme, you know. Have you loved someone, truly, deeply, someone dark, someone who hurt you? I think not. If you had, then you would've truly understood this song.
wonderful song, n album, joshua tree 87, first 3 tracks wre all nmbr ones. album of v yr, band of v decade. my 2nd fav band after v beatles- vers reasons 4 that!, thats how gd u2 r.
Your followers are leading you to the best music that exists. Enjoy! We sure do! This is my third favorite U2 song, after One and Pride (In The Name Of Love), and just before The Unforgettable Fire.
My first taste of U2 was when I saw them at Live Aid in London. I had never heard of them until then but I became an immediate fan of theirs. Joshua Tree is my favorite album of all time.
U2 was/is pretty much Chris Martin’s heroes. Not sure if you’re going to continue on through The Joshua Tree, which is incredible. Second only to Achtung Baby. Great reaction.
The Unforgettable Fire introduced me to U2. So that will always be my No.1 album from them. The Joshua Tree and Actung Baby are brilliant albums. But there is always one that has sentimental value to you.
Used to be a big fan, their album “War” was fantastic, but recent years I’ve got pissed off at bono with his lecturing, but when this dropped,I repeat played loads of times.
Bon-o. Try A Sort of Homecoming, Pride (In the Name of Love), and the eponymous The Unforgettable Fire. They're breathtaking, and Pride (view the Red Rocks live version) is one of the best songs in history. All of history. The Joshua Fire album is stunning - it was the very, VERY Irish U2 discovering the US and California for the first time.
Such a GREAT build! Cold Play is a good analogy.....for some reason, I thought of Genesis, though the sound is quite different. Maybe it's the dramatic build.
I remember hearing this for the first time in 1987, it didn't sound like anything else... It was groundbreaking, the video was good too; mostly just Bono singing and all in black and white. I went and saw their show in Oakland that year, it was spectacular. They played for more than three hours, they sounded better live than on the album... My friends and I had seats, but the concert was in the stadium where the Raiders played; we went down to the field after the concert, and the grass over the entire football field had been mashed into a green paste by the crowd being so excited and moving so much, you couldn't see a single blade of grass left.
We love early U2. This album, “Joshua Tree” especially. And this is the best song on the album. This has that alluring, provocative desert (It was filmed in the desert) feel. If that makes sense.
It's a bit funny how often people try to cover this when it's one of those songs that can't really be covered without either sounding like a two-penny copycat -- or doing something completely different with it. IMHO only Amy Lee and Scala & the Kolacny Brothers have truly succeeded in covering this well. And both went for a very different arrangement.
Eerie. Ethereal. Healing. Mysterious. Seductive. These are all thoughts and themes that came into my head the first time I heard this. And it was all the above. What is the definition of a perfect song? One that puts it stamp on you and lingers, like this one
Can't stand the groups politics. but I do like and remember well their early music and this one is my favourite. When I had noisy neighbours playing loud music above me [flat/appartment], I would play this [especially the bass part] at max [had a better system than them] and they soon got the message. lol

But as a youtube reactor or commentator :)... You are so calm and respectful that it is mind bogling.
The Joshua Tree was one of the greatest end to end albums ever. Every aspect.
The Unforgettable Fire is close or slightly better in some ways. They're so young, and the passion is stunning.
I think it was a great album and particularily this song but I also loved it as whole.
@@timothysassanella272 Unforgettabe Fire was for me too agreat one especially the title song as it is powerful as f... They reached the top of the mountain with this album and song. And from 1987 to 1993 were the biggest group in the world. Rock's Hottest Ticket.
And at Bonaroo my daughter was just waiting for them to finish and get off the stage so she could see who she really wanted to see.
The whole Joshua Tree album is a masterpiece! It has a unique vibe like no other album I’ve ever heard. Pure magic!
Everything U2 did was special. Extreme talents there.
The 'Iconic' Joshua Tree album. By far their best.
Do the official video of where the streets have no name. They shot it on a rooftop in LA defying orders from the police to shut it down
That was so cool.
My favorite U2 song! It.never.gets.old!
Beautiful melody from the edge
U2 at Live Aid - Bad, in particular, is astonishing. They were 24, full of blood, and they nailed it. A hugely touching performance. Bono was incredible.
U2! Always phenomenal!

those would be like 18,750 per show. smaller than they used to, but I never liked those mega-venues.
Their sound was so unique and mesmerizing when they hit the scene, I couldn't get enough of them.

I call him “The”
I always found the build on this one to be so sensual. Their Zoo Tour was phenomenal.
My absolute favorite!! U2 is awesome, fav !!
Do a deep dive on U2!
Yes, like Achtung Baby!
Yes, please do a deep dive on U2. Start with "Bad" from Live Aid.
🎉🎉🎉You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! Chris Martin lead singer/frontman of Coldplay says the band is heavily influenced by U2 and the Beatles. You are absolutely correct. Great reaction. 🎉🎉🎉
Oh no kidding I had a sneaky suspicion
Pride (In The Name of Love) will always be my fav from U2.
I love that one too so emotional esp when he sings a shot rings out etc
U2 "THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE" (original video) is my favvvvorite song from them. Oh my gosh it's so good!!! It takes me wayy back.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Masterpiece
When this came out my cousin had a C90 tape (yes that long ago 😂) & both sides had this recoreded on it . He played it on endless loop

Have you heard their reimagined songs? They're really interesting to say the least. Edge sings an entire song in falsetto.
I recently listened to Achtung Baby kindergarten version. It is like discovering a whole new album. You should check it out if you haven’t yet. Brought back a flood of great memories for me.
awesome! try 'red hill mining town' from the same joshua tree album. (and 'bullet the blue sky' if you are in the mood)
The Best Album of the 80's, imo.
One of the BEST Songs on the Joshua Tree album that is grossly underrated is ONE TREE HILL - if you want to hear Bono at his most Gut Wrenching, THAT is the Song!
My favorite of this tremendous band!
YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!
This is in my top 5 all time fav songs. Funny you mentioned Coldplay, they're one of my top five fav bands lol
It builds slowly and it feels mesmerizing. It is so romantic and you can feel the heart ache he is going through. ❤
Bass player is underrated
U2, definitely an awesome group, many great songs!!❤
The Joshua Tree, most probably the best album of 80's decade
This album just blew my mind. Loved every single song and played it to death!
Just saw them in Las Vegas. They are still amazing live.

This might be my favorite song by them
You want to hear a beautiful haunting masterpiece? Bono at his best in “Red Hill Mining Town”
Yes! I really wish more people would react to this gem❤️🔥
As mentioned in the description, he has.
This one deserves a live version 💯
Love, love that song
This song at one of their live concerts and Bono pulls a girl on stage and lays down next to her and sings to her. Um amazing ❤
If U2 were Superheroes, Coldplay would be their sidekick! Love your reaction.

The Joshua Tree is widely considered U2’s magnum opus. My favourite off this album is Bullet The Blue Sky. You need to react to that.
Not by hardcore fans or theirs. That honor goes to Achtung Baby. :)
As mentioned in the description he has done the entire album
My first taste of U2 was when I saw them at Live Aid in London. I had never heard of them until then but I became an immediate fan of theirs. Joshua Tree is my favorite album of all time.
This entire album is FIRE!!
One of my alllll time favourite songs ❤
Watch the official live video from rattle and him
My favourite band!
Just a perfect song. All I can say.
Great reaction! ! My all time favorite band! You should listen to the live version. Zootv Washington DC. Freaking fire !!
Yes!
U2 was/is pretty much Chris Martin’s heroes.
Not sure if you’re going to continue on through The Joshua Tree, which is incredible. Second only to Achtung Baby. Great reaction.
He put in the description that he's done the whole album on Patreon.
I wouldn't put JT second to AB, but I love it as I do most all U2!
u2 forever greetings from argentina
Great Salvo!
Appreciate! It means a lot to me!
This song is so good!👍👏👏👏💙
Best U2 album hands down
Some, like me would say Achtung Baby is their best album hands down, no contest. :)
The Unforgettable Fire introduced me to U2. So that will always be my No.1 album from them. The Joshua Tree and Actung Baby are brilliant albums. But there is always one that has sentimental value to you.
I love this song, the whole album was great
Try Pride n The Name Of Love or Sunday Bloody Sunday
The greatest rock band ever proud to be Irish.❤
Used to be a big fan, their album “War” was fantastic, but recent years I’ve got pissed off at bono with his lecturing, but when this dropped,I repeat played loads of times.

This is my favorite U2 song.😊
I was fortunate to see them in '87 for this tour in Toronto

I got this one in vinil record, the best album from U2

Take a look at Where the streets have no name. A wall of sound👌
❤❤
Can’t wait for you to check out songs from Achtung Baby which I consider their masterpiece.
❤
Still my favourite U2 album.
Wanna know if you can sing? Belt this one out in the shower ❤
It's been too long since I've heard them.
Could you do a reaction to another U2 song? When Love Comes To Town? It's a fabulous song done with the legendary B.B.King with a blues sound to it.❤❤
