@@GoneFeralWithSquidly I live close to the Sipsey and my cousin from KY came down and a group of us used it as our base camp and went to various falls, shelters, and canyons from there. We parked on Cranal to access it. The KY group loved the area! A real gem that’s so close.
Our feet weren’t in too bad shape by the end of that day but when your feet are wet all day in winter, you stay chilled. Even when it warmed (sort of) during midday, we were often cold. Wait until you see our gear the next morning 😂🤣. Thanks for always commenting! 🦑
Thank you!! We are certainly lucky to have the Sipsey here in Alabama. This area is relatively clean and well taken care of. Now, if we can just keep it that way.

Thanks!! 1. In the Sipsey, the trails are almost completely unmarked. The only markings are at most trail junctions. 2. The trails are usually in decent condition for a Wilderness Area but there are always going to be blowdowns that haven’t been cleared and after heavy rains, the trail can get washed out when it dips down close to the water level. @@MrAviator2006 after about mid November when the rain starts back, you will definitely run the risk of getting wet. My suggestion is to wear wool socks (your feet will stay reasonably warm even when wet) and take a designated pair of socks to sleep in.

While we were on this trip, we talked about floating Thompson Creek and Sipsey Fork. There are a lot of obstacles to portage around. 🦑
